Paul’s Letters to God’s churches, supporting text & commentary, chapter 40

God’s 7th month, Tishrei 27, 5777, 10/29/16. To followers of Jesus.

Happy Sabbath and on this day we joyfully announce our book, “Jesus’ Good News” as revealed to Peter and Paul. It includes our personal mini bible index for quick look ups. Its kindle and printed book ready from Amazon. Title # 6567842.

Chapter divides are sectioned for individual and group study. If you can afford please purchase a gift copy for another. We are at a point in history where home schooling and home bible study/home church is the way.

When speaking to Nicodemus, Jesus explained the miracle of being, “born again.” (The wind blows wherever it will, and you hear the sound it makes, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”) See John 3:5-8.

Jesus may have been born during the third holy season. His birth day is purposely camouflaged. It isn’t recorded that Jesus celebrated His or anyone else’s birthday. The holy annual Sabbath, “Trumpets” foreshadows Jesus triumphant return to rule this earth for one thousand years before New Jerusalem with God the Father comes down.

We Believers IN know that this earth and heavenly bodies are sustained by our Creator God. He sustains the sun, causing it to burn precisely according to plan. He keeps this earth moving precisely, creating the seasons. This earth’s moon at the exact distant, controlling the ocean tides etc. Our Creator is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and ending. God the Father’s plan for Jesus’ millennial reign will happen on His schedule.

Jesus’ apostles proclaimed this Creator Jesus as He manifest, Himself to be and taught these truths. (Paul teaches us to believe IN the Creator, not the Creator’s creations.) Initially Jesus’ apostles thought His return would likely be in their life time. Paul wrote; (“And I say this, brothers and sisters: The time is short. So then those who have wives should be as those who have none, those with tears like those not weeping, those who rejoice like those not rejoicing, those who buy like those without possessions, those who use the world as though they were not using it to the full. For the present shape of this world is passing away.” 1Corinthians 7:29-35)

(32 -35: “And I want you to be free from concern. An unmarried “Christian” man is concerned about the things of the Lord, how to please the Lord. But a married man is concerned about the things of the world, how to please his wife and he is divided. An unmarried “Christian” woman or a virgin is concerned about the things of the Lord, to be holy both in body and spirit. But a married woman is concerned about the things of the world, how to please her husband. I am saying this for your benefit, not to place a limitation on you, but so that without distraction you may give notable and constant service to the Lord.”)

We married Christians can see the logic in what Paul is teaching. Pleasing a mate can often divide one’s attention. Remember too, Paul is giving his opinion, from two points of view. (He thought Jesus’ prophecies recorded at Matthew 24 were at hand. It’s natural to want to please one’s mate and bad circumstances make Christians even more peculiar to the world.

(1 Cor 7:36-38; “If anyone “a father” thinks he is acting inappropriately toward his virgin, if she is past the bloom of youth (referring to engagement: “if she is past the critical point,” “if passions are too strong.” (The word, “passion” here literally means “to be past the high point.”) and it seems necessary, he should do what he wishes; he does not sin. Let them marry. But the man who is firm in his commitment, and is under no necessity but has control over his will, and has decided in his own mind to keep his own virgin, does well. So then, the one who “allows” marriage of his own virgin “daughter” does well, but the one who does not, does better.”)

The custom of fathers giving daughters for marriage goes way back. Remember Jacob worked seven years for his choice mate, only to be given the older sister; then another seven years for his choice. Paul is writing to Believers IN God’s Way. A Believers IN should not marry a nonbeliever.

(1 Cor 7:39-40; “A wife is bound as long as her husband is living. But if her husband dies, she is free to marry anyone she wishes (only someone in the Lord). But in my opinion, she will be happier if she remains as she is – and I think that I too have the Spirit of God!”)

God’s rule for His chosen people is, “they should not enter into marriage with pagans.” Should not be unevenly yoked! (See 2Corinthians 6:4)

(1 Cor 8:1-3 “With regard to food sacrificed to idols, we know that “we all have knowledge.” Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up. If someone thinks he knows something, he does not yet know to the degree that he needs to know. But if someone loves God, he is known by God.”)

We don’t know to the degree we need to. If anyone loves God it is because God loved that one first and revealed Himself. Only then can we love God and His Ways. Worldly knowledge, “education” puffs up and makes the fleshly natural person feel superior to the less educated. Such people want to lord over.

(1 Cor 8:4-6; “With regard then to eating food sacrificed to idols, we know that “an idol in this world is nothing” and that “there is no God but One.” If after all there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as there are many gods and many lords), yet for us “we Christians” there is One God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we live, and One Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we live.”)

Paul is again reinforcing his own words at Colossians 1:15-20, John’s introduction of Jesus at John 1:1-5 and Hebrews 1:.

Demonic led societies rationalize about the sun and various planets permanency and began looking to God’s creation; rather than to our loving law giver Creator who sustains all things. Allowing self devised opinions, division and confusion among themselves. An unbelieving nature that will prevail until Jesus’ return and Satan is bound. SO, we Christians know that sacrificing to an idol is nothing. Why would God NOT want us sacrificing to idols? The Israelites were and we Christians are a set aside “sanctified” people; called to be an example in the world. (As Paul concluded for himself, “All things are lawful for me” – but not everything is beneficial. “All things are lawful for me” – but I will not be controlled by anything.” 1 Cor 6:12)

We need to be mindful of our example and realize that what we practice is what we worship. We Christian should not practice things rooted in paganism.

(1Cor 8:7-10; “But this knowledge is not shared by all. And some, by being accustomed to idols in former times, eat this food as an idol sacrifice, and their conscience, because it is weak, is defiled. Now food will not bring us close to God. We are no worse if we do not eat and no better if we do. (9) But be careful that this liberty of yours does not become a hindrance to the weak. For if someone weak sees you who possess knowledge dining in an idol’s temple, will not his conscience be “strengthened” to eat food offered to idols?”)

A person known by God; “a person that loves God” isn’t affected by idols, nor food sacrificed to an idol since we know an idol is nothing, but a figment of another’s imagination. However our participation indicates a condoning that damages the conscience of a person weak in the faith.

(1 Cor 8:11-13; “So by your knowledge the weak brother or sister, for whom Christ died, is destroyed. If you sin against your brothers or sisters in this way and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ. (13) For this reason, if “sacrificed” food “meats” causes my brother or sister to sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I may not cause one of them to sin.”)

Christian practices should not mimic this demonic world’s populations. We need to remember why we are sanctified. If we suffer for the cause of Jesus, our mentality should be, “so be it.” Idols and idolatry is at every turn in every society. God’s Word identifies the visible Christian. Until God opens a person’s understanding, “most people idolize their own understanding” intellect, attitudes and ways that seem right to their inherited from Adam fleshly instinctive nature. A nature inherited by all people, that only God can change our nature.

God’s 7th month, Tishrei 26, 5777, 10/28/16. To followers of Jesus.

This age is in darkness and rejects Jesus just as He and God the Father knew. It was prophesied. (If possible even God’s Elect would be deceived.) When Satan is bound, the populations will have no excuse for not believing that Jesus was sent by His Father to do His will and that Jesus was resurrected after three nights and three days. (When Jesus returns, the deceiver bound, knowledge covering as water the sea, people resurrected as was Lazarus, many will repent for having lived the way that seemed right to their fleshly inherited nature.) People loving evil, “as Jesus describes evil” will die a second death. Jesus’ revelations to John on the subject needs to be repeated.

(Revelations 21:5-8; “And the One seated on the throne said: “Look! I am making all things new!” Then He said to me, “Write it down, because these words are reliable and true.” He also said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the one who is thirsty I will give water free of charge from the spring of the water of life. The one who conquers will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be my son. But to the cowards, unbelievers, detestable persons, murderers, the sexually immoral, and those who practice magic spells, idol worshipers, and all those who lie, their place will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur. That is the second death.”) Worldly religions can’t imagine God being this awesome. Writing to Believers, Paul explains.

(1Corinthians 15:20-34: “But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, “Adam” the resurrection of the dead also came through a man, “Jesus.” For just as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive. (23) But each in his own order: Christ, the firstfruits; then when Christ comes, those who belong to Him. Then comes the end, when He hands over the kingdom to God the Father, when He has brought to an end all rule and all authority and power. For He must reign until He has put all his enemies under His feet. The last enemy to be eliminated is death. (27) For He, “God the Father” has put everything in subjection under His, “Jesus’” feet. But when it says “everything” has been put in subjection, it is clear that this does not include the One, “God the Father” who put everything in subjection to Him. And when all things are subjected to Him, then the Son Himself will be subjected to the One, “God the Father” who subjected everything to Him, so that God may be all in all. (29) Otherwise, what will those do who are baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, then why are they baptized for them? Why too are we, “apostles” in danger every hour? Every day I am in danger of death! This is as sure as my boasting in you, which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord. If from a human point of view I fought with wild beasts at Ephesus, what did it benefit me? If the dead are not raised, let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die. Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good morals.” Sober up as you should, and stop sinning! For some have no knowledge of God – I say this to your shame!)

Jesus’ apostles died for teaching these truths. They believed in God the Father, God the Son, the resurrections, gifted eternal life through Jesus, Jesus’ return with power, His millennial rule and New Jerusalem coming down.

Heavenly Father: we Believers IN are thankful that You know our minds, attitudes and inherited characteristics. We honestly pray that You intervene in our minds, lead us to know, honor and practice Your Ways. Keep us on Your potter’s wheel and grow us as is pleasing to Yourself. We ask in the nature and name of Jesus. AMEN

With the help of, “pride in their own intellect people” Satan has denominations divided and each attempting to make Jesus fit their fleshly logic. The same Deity that came in the flesh, is the Lord God that said, “let us make man in our image and likeness.” The same communed with Adam, Eve, Abel and Cain. Called Abraham friend, promised blessings to his physical and spiritual descendents. Our Lord revealed and had Malachi write.

(3:5-6; “I will come to you in judgment. I will be quick to testify against those who practice divination, those who commit adultery, those who break promises, and those who exploit workers, widows, and orphans, who refuse to help the immigrant and in this way show they do not fear Me,” says the Lord who rules over all. (6) “Since, I, the Lord, do not go back on my promises, you, sons of Jacob, have not perished.””)

Remember, Jacob’s name was changed to Israel. Today’s spiritual Israelites are followers of Jesus. (Galatians 3:29.) Lets review John’s introduction of Jesus.

(John 1:1-5; “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was fully God. The Word was with God in the beginning. All things were created by Him, and apart from Him not one thing was created that has been created. In Him was life, and the Life was the light of mankind. (5) And the light shines on in the darkness, but the darkness has not mastered it.”) Jesus’ apostle Paul writes the same at Colossians 1:15-20 and at Hebrews 1:1-4;

“After God spoke long ago in various portions and in various ways to our ancestors through the prophets, in these last days He has spoken to us in a Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, and through whom He created the world. The Son is the radiance of His glory and the representation of His essence, and He sustains all things by His powerful word, and so when He had accomplished cleansing for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. Thus He became so far better than the angels as He has inherited a name superior to theirs.”)

We are delivered from darkness to light when Jesus is revealed and we repent for having lived the way that seemed right to our fleshly intellect. As always study the whole text.

When did Jesus accomplished cleansing of sins? From re-creation it was planned that the Son of God would be our Messiah and sacrifice Himself for the sins of the world. Blood sacrifices and holy to God times, all looked forward to our being gifted with eternal life through Jesus’ shed blood, His accomplishments by and through His first and second coming. A mystery to people in darkness, trusting their own intellect, rather than God’s Word. The mystery? His gifted spirit living in people, giving the desire to be at one with Himself. Imputed with the spirit mind of Jesus is, “the desire to be at one with Him and God the Father.” Through this gifted desire, we can enthusiastically honor things holy to Him.

Writing in the Hebrew language, Moses quotes Jesus saying, “These are MY holy times” you shall declare in their season. (Worldly religions aren’t gifted to recognize, “that the Lord speaking through Moses was in fact Jesus.” (Study John 1:1-5, Colossians 1:15-22 and Hebrews 1: again.) The world isn’t gifted to recognize that, “annual Sabbaths foreshadow Jesus’ being the Messiah and The Father’s timely plans for this earth.)

(Leviticus 23:4-8; “‘These are the Lord’s appointed times, holy assemblies, which you must proclaim at their appointed time. In the first month, “Abib - Nisan” on the fourteenth day of the month, at twilight, is a Passover offering to the Lord. Then on the fifteenth day of the same month will be the Festival of Unleavened Bread to the Lord; seven days you must eat unleavened bread. On the first day “the 15th” there will be a holy assembly for you; you must not do any regular work. You must present a gift to the Lord for seven days, and the seventh day is a holy assembly; you must not do any regular work.’”)

For You? Sabbaths are made for man, not man for the Sabbaths. Made so followers could keep focused on His Way. Putting leavening out symbolizes putting sin out of our lives. Assembling on God’s set aside holy times show respect to and worship. Recognizing the giver of all good things. There is no set aside time, for not worshiping.

The importance of Passover, “the 14th day of God’s first month, plus the 15th and 22nd annual Sabbaths, look back and forward to Jesus’ blood sacrifice for the remission of sin and our need to overcoming to the end. Israel’s deliverance was a type of our deliverance. Through Moses, Jesus delivered the Israelites from Egyptian bondage, “sin” on the exact preplanned day and gave Himself for the remission of sin on that exact day. (see Exodus 12:40) The word, “Israel” has the MEANING, “God Fights.”

Israel’s time in bondage to Egypt was exactly 430 years and told to Abraham. Jacob’s son, Joseph was made Jesus’ servant and ruler under the Egyptian Pharaoh. Through Joseph God settled the Israelites in Egypt. Jesus promised Abraham, his descendents would be in bondage and their delivery preplanned. That promise looked forward to a greater spiritual delivery of Abraham‘s spiritual descendents. (See Galatians 3:29) Moses was called to be a type of the coming Deliverer. Jesus’ becoming our Passover Lamb.

Jesus kept the Passover with humility, demonstrating love, washing His disciples feet and teaching that eternal life is through Himself. (Jesus the Vine and we followers the branches. See John 1:5) Jesus had the prophets, foretell His death, burial, resurrection, second return and is still teaching us through His apostles. Jesus’ death and burial was on the 14th day of Nisan- Abib. They hurried to put Him in the tomb before the annual, fifteenth day of Nisan Sabbath. (Not the weekly Sabbath, even if the weekly fell on the day as the annual.)

From the weekly, “wave sheaf offering Sabbath” begins the fifty day count to Pentecost. (Pentecost meaning “to count fifty.”) Pentecost is God’s third of seven annual Sabbaths. Demonstrating the importance of Pentecost to Himself, God the Father sent His holy spirit to dwell in His chosen people on that Pentecost after Jesus’ ascension. Jesus told His apostles to wait in Jerusalem for this promise. Pentecost is the second holy season for God’s people and birth of God‘s new testament church. .

The third, holy to God season. (see Exodus 23:14-19) (Deut 16:16-17) includes the last four of seven annual Sabbaths. Trumpets, Atonement, the first day of the Feast of Tabernacles and the Last Great Day. Trumpets is the first day of God’s seventh month, Atonement the tenth day, the Feast of Tabernacles the fifteenth day and seventh annual Sabbath. The 22nd and eighth day of the feast is the seventh annual Sabbath, called, “the Last Great Day.” (Lev 23:23-36)

Again lets study Jesus’ recorded spoken words as He kept this “Last Great Day.”

(John 7:37-39; “On the Last Day of the feast, the greatest day, Jesus stood up and shouted out, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me, and let the one who believes IN Me drink. Just as the scripture says, ‘From within him will flow rivers of living water.’” (Now He said this about the Spirit, whom those who believed IN Him were going to receive, for the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.)

God planned that the holy spirit be given miraculously and with power on that Pentecost after Jesus’ ascension. (Likened to the wind, His spirit was gifted.)

The world most accepted calendar is the Roman calendar. Created to appease gentile populations. Its new year attempting to coin side with the winter equinox. God’s calendar first month falls around March - April and His seventh around October. God’s months begins on each new moon. Google, “Jewish calendar” if interested in keeping up.

Paul’s Letters to God’s churches, supporting text & commentary, chapter 38

God’s 7th month, Tishrei 24, 5777, 10/26/16. To followers of Jesus.

According to God’s holy scriptures, everyone that comes to the Son of God, believing IN Him as He manifested Himself to be, will be saved. Believing IN Him is to yield to His Word, those revealed to His apostles and put them to practice. Knowing that His Word will be our judge.

(Luke 6:46-48; “Why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and don’t do what I tell you?” “Everyone who comes to Me and listens to My words and puts them into practice – I will show you what he is like: He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep, and laid the foundation on bedrock.”)

God knows each person’s deeds and it’s He that gives us the desire, “the sincerity of mind to be obedient.” He knows our attitudes, the degree of love we have for one another and this world’s system of things. He gives spiritual understanding to His chosen and allows the many to remain spiritually blind until a time of His Choosing. When, where and how is God’s prerogative. Many will be led to turn, “repent” during Jesus’ millennial reign. Populations at large don’t realize that God is purposely allowing Satan to be the god of this age. As god of this world, Satan’s objective is to deceive and manifest himself as an angel of light. Speaking of the deceived teachers and Satan; Jesus’ apostle Paul explains.

(2 Corinthians 11:13-15; “For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. Therefore it is not surprising his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, whose end will correspond to their actions.”)

When we consider the many self righteous denominational minded teachers, who are quick to offer prayer to their imagined gods; “we grasp the degree of Satan’s successes.” Our Lord’s brother, “Jude” saw these deception unfolding and reveals their reason.

(Jude 1:3-4; “Dear friends, although I have been eager to write to you about our common salvation, I now feel compelled instead to write to encourage you to contend earnestly for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the Saints. For certain men have secretly slipped in among you – men who long ago were marked out for the condemnation I am about to describe – ungodly men who have turned the grace of our God into a license for evil and who deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.”)

How do people deny Jesus? Jude isn’t talking about people verbally speaking a denial. (Jesus is denied when people don’t obey and practice living His prescribed Way.) When people condone practices honoring imaginary gods, gods the very people whose lands God gave to the Israelites honored.

We have learned that Jesus’ apostles were initially expecting His return in their life time. Jesus knew they would and that His church would be infiltrated by unbelievers attempting to change, “believing IN by grace” to a manufactured methodology. A method of works is what Paul was delivered from. That false narrative teaching that anyone could receive salvation at a time of their choosing. Plus, persecutions from Israelites, gentiles and governments warring among themselves, “made Jesus’ prophesies at Matthew 24:, seem to be coming to past soon.”

By the time of Jesus’ revelations to John, it was obvious that His message and His deity would be twisted beyond recognition to this materialistic world. Jesus revealed that false religions would deceive the whole world before His return. From the content of Paul’s letters we see, people were asking Paul about their problems in dealing with the frustrations of the times. Conditions in Greece and around Corinth were bad and false teachers were confusing and leading some from The Way.

Paul understood sexual immortality’s pulls on the flesh.

(1 Cor 7:1-6; Now with regard to the issues you wrote about: “It is good for a man not to have sexual relations with a woman.” But because of immoralities, each man should have relations with his own wife and each woman with her own husband. A husband should give to his wife her sexual rights, and likewise a wife to her husband. It is not the wife who has the rights to her own body, but the husband. In the same way, it is not the husband who has the rights to his own body, but the wife. Do not deprive each other, except by mutual agreement for a specified time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then resume your relationship, so that Satan may not tempt you because of your lack of self-control. (6) I say this as a concession, not as a command. I wish that everyone was as I am. But each has his own gift from God, one this way, another that.)

In verse 26 of this chapter, Paul makes his reasoning clear. “Because of the impending crisis, I think it best for you to remain as you are.” Apparently Paul never married, but he understood relationships from God’s View. One reason Paul gives is. “so you may devote yourselves to prayer.”

(1 Cor 7:8-10; To the unmarried and widows I say that it is best for them to remain as I am. But if they do not have self-control, let them get married. For it is better to marry than to burn with sexual desire. (10) To the married I give this command – not I, but the Lord – a wife should not divorce a husband (but if she does, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband), and a husband should not divorce his wife.) NOTE Paul’s caution regarding inserting his own opinion.

(1 Cor 7:12-16; “To the rest I say – I, not the Lord – if a brother has a wife who is not a believer and she is happy to live with him, he should not divorce her. And if a woman has a husband who is not a believer and he is happy to live with her, she should not divorce him. For the unbelieving husband is sanctified because of the wife, and the unbelieving wife because of her husband. Otherwise your children are unclean, but now they are holy. But if the unbeliever wants a divorce, let it take place. In these circumstances the brother or sister is not bound. God has called you in peace. (16) For how do you know, wife, whether you will bring your husband to salvation? Or how do you know, husband, whether you will bring your wife to salvation?)

God knows all things in advance. A believing person could be with an unbeliever for testing. Believers IN are led to grow in God’s grace and overcome to the end.

(1 Cor 7:17-19; Nevertheless, as the Lord has assigned to each one, as God has called each person, so must we live. I give this sort of direction in all the churches. Was anyone called after he had been circumcised? He should not try to undo his circumcision. Was anyone called who is uncircumcised? He should not get circumcised. (For the purpose of thinking either was necessary for salvation.) (19) Circumcision is nothing and un-circumcision is nothing. Instead, keeping God’s commandments is what counts.)

God knows each person’s situation when He calls and reveals Himself. God may put an individual in a particular situation before He calls. God knows how He wants each person to grow and overcome. (For example; to live with an unbelieving spouse may be the training God desires one to experience, “for His purpose.”)

God’s prophet Hosea is an example. (Hosea 1:2; When the Lord first spoke through Hosea, He said to him, “Go marry a prostitute who will bear illegitimate children conceived through prostitution, because the nation continually commits spiritual prostitution by turning away from the Lord.”)

Israel was called to be God’s set aside, “sanctified” people, when they failed to be obedient, they became spiritual prostitutes. Hosea learned first hand, how God felt toward His rebellious people.

(1 Cor 7:20-24; “Let each one remain in that situation in life in which he was called. Were you called as a slave? Do not worry about it. But if indeed you are able to be free, make the most of the opportunity. For the one who was called in the Lord as a slave is the Lord’s freedman. In the same way, the one who was called as a free person is Christ’s slave. You were bought with a price. Do not become slaves of men. In whatever situation someone was called, brothers and sisters, let him remain in it with God.”)

THE POINT. Each called individual is for God’s purpose, needing to learn in this age, “what it’s like to serve as someone’s slave” and make the best of it. An employee may be the instrument God uses to call a business owner. A converted wife may be God’s tool to convert a husband. When we are in a position to be a witness for good, “it’s likely God’s doing.” (Review verse 24: “theologians should never lord over or usurp God’s will in people’s lives.) (Paul next paragraph is from his opinion that Jesus’ prophecy recorded at Matthew 24, was unfolding.)

(1 Cor 7:25-28; With regard to the question about people who have never married, I have no command from the Lord, but I give my opinion as one shown mercy by the Lord to be trustworthy. Because of the impending crisis I think it best for you to remain as you are. The one bound to a wife should not seek divorce. The one released from a wife should not seek marriage. But if you marry, you have not sinned. And if a virgin marries, she has not sinned. But those who marry will face difficult circumstances, and I am trying to spare you such problems.”)

Paul was a diligent overseer of the people, desiring the best for each. The facts are that even though Jesus’ coming was not to be during that apostolic age, people taking Paul’s advice were spared problems because of persecutions. (When we see Jesus’ Matthew 24:, prophecy nearing it’s conclusion, we need to consider Paul’s advice for the time.)

(1 Cor 7:29-31; And I say this, brothers and sisters: The time is short. So then those who have wives should be as those who have none, those with tears like those not weeping, those who rejoice like those not rejoicing, those who buy like those without possessions, those who use the world as though they were not using it to the full. For the present shape of this world is passing away.”)

Paul lived in times similar to these later days. To him and many of us now, it seems Jesus’ return will be soon. But it is not yet, UNLESS God the Father cuts the time really short. WHY? The world is not like Sodom and Gomorra just yet! (Study Matthew 24:)

Whether it be a short time or not, it’s a short life for each of us. Our death ends the overcoming time we have in this age. Our time on this earth is a testing. Be mindful that many are not called in this age and Jesus’ Word will ultimately be the judge of all.

(John 12:47-50; “If anyone hears My words and does not obey them, I do not judge him. For I have not come to judge the world, but to save the world. The one who rejects Me and does not accept My words has a judge; the WORD I HAVE SPOKEN WILL JUDGE HIM AT THE LAST DAY. For I have not spoken from My own authority, but the Father Himself who sent Me has commanded Me what I should say and what I should speak. (50) And I know that His commandment is ETERNAL LIFE. Thus the things I say, I say just as the Father has told Me.”)

Some well meaning people are NOT called for reasons we do not fully understand. Good intentions do not translate to a believing IN God as He manifest Himself to be. (Part of the good news is; “a resurrection, and opening of minds awaits many in the age to come.) Well intending people will likely repent, some of the arrogant may not. (Review 1Corinthians 6:9-11 and Revelations 21:5-8)

Paul’s Letters to God’s churches, supporting text & commentary, chapter 37

Tuesday, October 25th, 2016

God’s 7th month, Tishrei 23, 5777, 10/25/16. To followers of Jesus.

We can’t overly state that a truth is; many “believe that” few “believe IN” God. God leads the called to prayerfully meditate on these words. The result is insight, regarding our inherited belief system. Consider the huge chasm between “believing IN” and “believing THAT.” (Believing IN God is to know God created and understand that His Way is one.) Our belief is demonstrated by our practices. Peter teaches that Jesus’ followers are gifted with a desire to obey and pursue righteous living.

(1 Peter 5:5-11; “In the same way, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. And all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. And God will exalt you in due time, if you humble yourselves under His mighty hand by casting all your cares on Him because he cares for you. Be sober and alert. Your enemy the devil, like a roaring lion, is on the prowl looking for someone to devour. Resist him, strong in your faith, because you know that your brothers and sisters throughout the world are enduring the same kinds of suffering. And, after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace who called you to His eternal glory in Christ will Himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. To Him belongs the power forever. Amen.”)

Jesus gives His faith.

After miraculously feeding thousands, many believed IN Jesus because of the miracle. Later when the people looked for Jesus, He said; “you look for Me because you ate all the bread you wanted.” Then He added. (“Do not work for the food that disappears, but for the food that remains to eternal life – the food which the Son of Man will give to you. For God the Father has put His seal of approval on Him.” So then they said to Him, “What must we do to accomplish the deeds God requires?” Jesus replied, “This is the deed God requires – to believe IN the One whom He sent.” So they said to Jesus, “Then what miraculous sign will You perform, so that we may see it and believe You? What will you do? Our ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness, just as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’” (A quotation from Ps 78:24 (referring to the events of Exodus 16:4-36).John 6:27-31))

Bread from heaven foreshadowed God’s imputed spirit to Believers IN. Food caused people to, “believe THAT” for a time, but did not change anyone’s internal nature. God’s gift of, “believing IN” is a belief IN that makes a person desire and love His Way. This good news offends denominational minded theologians. Hopefully many who are offended now, will repent when Jesus opens their minds. Some denominational minded speak of there being a large revival before Jesus’ return. People seriously studying Jesus’ words at Matthew 24: learn that the whole world will be taught His Ways, when He returns and Satan is bound.

In a previous study we reviewed Paul’s instructions regarding dealings with Christians who turn from The Way. We shared the seven doctrines that God’s churches are obligated to teach and practice, from Hebrews 6:. The world does not heed these words and rejects the notion that Jesus’ inspired Moses’ writing. It isn’t revealed to them that Jesus is the same Lord, our Creator and coming King of Kings that Moses worshiped.

(Deut 12:32- 13:5; “You must be careful to do everything I am commanding you. Do not add to it or subtract from it! (13:1) Suppose a prophet or one who foretells by dreams should appear among you and show you a sign or wonder, and the sign or wonder should come to pass concerning what he said to you, NAMELY, “Let us follow other gods” – gods whom you have not previously known – “and let us serve them.” (3) You must not listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer, for the Lord your God will be TESTING you to see if you LOVE Him with all your mind and being. You must follow the Lord your God and revere only Him; and you must observe His commandments, obey Him, serve Him, and remain loyal to Him. (13:5) As for that prophet or dreamer, he must be executed because he encouraged rebellion against the Lord your God who brought you from the land of Egypt, redeeming you from that place of slavery, and because he has tried to entice you from The Way the Lord your God has commanded you to go. In this way you must purge out evil from within.”)

The same Jesus inspiring Moses inspired Paul! In the millennium, at a time of God’s choosing, all unrepentant persons will die a “SECOND DEATH.” (See Revelations 2:11, 20:6, 20:14 & (21:8; “The one who has an ear had better hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who conquers “overcomes” will in no way be harmed by the second death.”) Jesus’ apostle Paul taught the same.

(1 Cor 6:1-8; “When any of you has a legal dispute with another, does he dare go to court before the unrighteous rather than before the Saints? Or do you not know that the Saints will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you not competent to settle trivial suits? (3) Do you not know that we will judge angels? Why not ordinary matters! So if you have ordinary lawsuits, do you appoint as judges those who have no standing in the church? I say this to your shame! Is there no one among you wise enough to settle disputes between fellow Christians? Instead, does a Christian sue a Christian, and do this before unbelievers? (7) The fact that you have lawsuits among yourselves demonstrates that you have already been defeated. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated? But you yourselves do wrong and cheat, and you do this to your brothers and sisters!”)

Judge the world? This text and many others reveal that at Jesus’ return, the dead in Christ will be resurrected and rule with Jesus. We Christians are to be like Jesus. It isn’t likely that God’s angels will need to be judged. The point is, “resurrected Saints will be as Jesus is.” When Christians take matters to outsiders, they are immature.

There is ONE Church of God identified by those who are “born from above.” Jesus’ good news messages He taught through Paul have little semblance to what is taught by denominational minded theologians. Believers IN, who overcome to the end will be serving Jesus and ruling during His millennial reign. There will be no division!

Who in their wildest imagination, think divided denominations can bring about a revival to God’s Way in this age? Believers IN, are praying that Jesus’ kingdom soon come. (One of Jesus’ promises is; “for the Elect’s sake this age will be shortened.”) See Matthew 24:) This world’s religious unbelievers love this world’s system of things. Governments will actually fight against Jesus, His angels and Saints. His master plan will prevail!

(1 Cor 6:9-11; “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived! The sexually immoral, idolaters, adulterers, passive homosexual partners, practicing homosexuals, thieves, the greedy, drunkards, the verbally abusive, and swindlers will not inherit the kingdom of God. (11) Some of you once lived this way. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.”)

GOD CALLS, opens minds, gives repentance, sanctifies and justifies all in His loving nature, “in the name of Jesus Christ” by His fathering spirit. How awesome to know, we Christians are God’s literal Children. Jesus REVEALED the same principles to John, Moses and Paul.

(Rev 21:5-8; “And the one seated on the throne said: “Look! I am making all things new!” Then He said to me, “Write it down, because these words are reliable and true.” He also said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the one who is thirsty I will give water free of charge from the spring of the water of LIFE. The one who conquers “overcomes” will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My Son. (8) But to the cowards, unbelievers, detestable persons, murderers, the sexually immoral, and those who practice magic spells, idol worshipers, and all those who lie, their place will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur. That is the SECOND DEATH.”) Many denominational minded people condone things that are detestable to our coming King.

(1 Cor 6:12; “All things are lawful for me, but not everything is beneficial. ‘All things are lawful for me, but I will not be controlled by anything.”)

Paul recognizes his maturity in Christ. His mind set, - his being - his actions were dictated by a love of God’s Way. (He was mindful that folks are controlled by their internal belief system.) Folks believing in worldly traditions are controlled by them. Folks believing in a particular denomination is controlled by it. Atheist are controlled by irrational human instinct. Who can realize or understand these things, except through God’s gifted holy spirit revelations? Christians are bond servants to Jesus, which is the only freedom that exist.

(1 Cor 6:13-14; “Food is for the stomach and the stomach is for food, but God will do away with both.” The body is not for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. Now God indeed raised the Lord and He will raise us by His power.”)

God’s new covenant is with His called Believers IN, a people born from above. God’s fathering an individual, makes that one His literal Child. Heir with Abraham. (See Galatians 3:29)

(1 Cor 6:15-17; “Do you not know that your bodies are MEMBERS of Christ? Should I take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! Or do you NOT know that anyone who is united with a prostitute is one body with her? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.” (17) But the one united with the Lord is ONE spirit with Him.”)

His imputed spirit makes Believers IN, AT ONE with Himself! It’s the spiritual connection to God’s physical law of oneness. A Believer IN, that turns from his first love of God’s Way, to follow another is committing spiritual adultery. God’s church is an accumulation of Christians, “the bride of Christ.” We are likened as one flesh, One spirit, one mind with Christ Jesus! May we strive to be loyal and holy.

(1 Cor 6:18-20; Flee sexual immorality! “Every sin a person commits is outside of the body – but the immoral person sins against his own body.” Or do you NOT know that your body is the TEMPLE of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are NOT your own? For you were bought at a price. Therefore glorify God with your body.”)

THAT PRICE? Jesus’ shed blood and suffering. It’s why Jesus had Moses write that the Israelites were to be separate, should not put markings on their flesh as the gentiles. Why Jesus inspired Moses to write about clean and unclean foods. We need to understand, God sanctifies, “sets apart” His people to be peculiar, different from this world’s people.

Paul’s Letters to God’s churches, supporting text & commentary, chapter 36

Sunday, October 23rd, 2016

God’s 7th month, Tishrei 21, 5777, 10/23/16. To followers of Jesus.

The Feast of Tabernacles ends and God’s seventh annual Sabbath begins at sunset today. The Sabbath is, “The Greatest Day or The Last Great Day” foreshadowing judgment. Jesus was observing this Greatest Day when He taught the following before His resurrection and ascension.

We that believe IN are before Him and drinking as we prayerfully study His Word.

Jesus’ apostle Paul was moved from darkness to His Light, when in route to Damascus for the purpose of persecuting Jesus’ followers.

Paul continues His teaching about shunning those not true to The Faith.

(1 Corinthians 5:3-5; “For even though I am absent physically, I am present in spirit. And I have already judged the one who did this, just as though I were present. When you gather together in the name of our Lord Jesus, and I am with you in spirit, along with the power of our Lord Jesus, (5) turn this man over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord.”)

Paul is speaking of Judgment as foreshadowed by God’s seventh annual Sabbath. Lawlessness in God’s View should not be condoned in an assembly of God. We need to know the evil, destructive and divisionary intent of the devil. He desires our destruction and causes trouble in the flesh. Paul is displaying his opinion, that this individual knew God’s truth, had once repented, had turned back and needed to be made ashamed. It’s obvious that Paul is writing before or during the Passover season, “Feast of Unleavened Bread.” He writes; “let us celebrate the festival.”

(1 Cor 5:6-8; “Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little yeast affects the whole batch of dough? (7) Clean out the old yeast so that you may be a new batch of dough – you are, in fact, without yeast. For Christ, our Passover Lamb, has been sacrificed. So then, let us celebrate the festival, not with the old yeast, the yeast of vice and evil, but with the bread without yeast, the bread of sincerity and truth.”)

Paul taught the benefit of knowing God’s holy seasons. The festival of unleavened bread was for the purpose of demonstrating the need of putting sin away individually and as an assembly of believers. Leavening is a puffing up agent, so here Paul uses it to personify sin. (The lesson, “when physically attempted to get all leavening out of a home, it’s likely some will be missed, so likewise, when we spiritually examine ourselves carefully.)

There is no substitution for Passover, “Jesus is our Passover.” We may not need to physically remove leavening in order to examine our spiritual lives. We do need to celebrate times God made holy for His people. Followers of Jesus see the need to spiritually examine in His Light.

We are known by the friends we keep.

(1 Cor 5:9-13; “I wrote you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people. In no way did I mean the immoral people of this world, or the greedy and swindlers and idolaters, since you would then have to go out of the world. (11) But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who calls himself a Christian who is sexually immoral, or greedy, or an idolater, or verbally abusive, or a drunkard, or a swindler. Do not even eat with such a person. (12) For what do I have to do with judging those outside? Are you not to judge those inside? But God will judge those outside. Remove the evil person from among you.”)

THIS IS NOT an old command for the apostolic era churches only. Seven times to seven churches by name, Jesus reveals His standards for the churches. Let‘s consider Jesus’ revelations to John and Christians.

(Revelations 2:1-7; “To the angel of the church in Ephesus, write the following: “This is the solemn pronouncement of the One who has a firm grasp on the seven stars in His right hand – the One who walks among the seven golden lamp stands: ‘I know your works as well as your labor and steadfast endurance, and that you cannot tolerate evil. You have even put to the test those who refer to themselves as apostles (but are not), and have discovered that they are false. I am also aware that you have persisted steadfastly, endured much for the sake of My name, and have not grown weary. But I have this against you: You have departed from your first love! Therefore, remember from what high state you have fallen and repent! DO the deeds you did at the first; if not, I will come to you and remove your lamp stand from its place – that is, if you do not repent. But you do have this going for you: You hate what the Nicolaitans practice – practices I also hate. The one who has an ear had better hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers, I will permit him to eat from the tree of life that is in the paradise of God.’

(Revelations 2:8-11; “To the angel of the church in SMYRNAS write the following: “This is the solemn pronouncement of the One who is the first and the last, the One who was dead, but came to life: ‘I know the distress you are suffering and your poverty (but you are rich). I also know the slander against you by those who call themselves Jews “Christians” and really are not, but are a SYNAGOGUE of Satan. Do not be afraid of the things you are about to suffer. The DEVIL is about to have some of you thrown into prison so you may be tested, and you will experience suffering for ten days. Remain faithful even to the point of death, and I will GIVE you the crown that is life itself. The one who has an ear had better hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who conquers “overcomes” will in no way be harmed by THE ‘SECOND DEATH.’

(Revelations 2:12-17; “To the angel of the church in Pergamum write the following: “This is the solemn pronouncement of the One who has the sharp double-edged sword: ‘I know where you live – where Satan’s THRONE is. Yet you continue to cling to My name and you have not denied your faith in Me, even in the days of Antipas, My faithful witness, who was killed in your city where Satan lives. But I have a few things against you: You have some people there who follow the teaching of Balaam, who instructed Balak to put a stumbling block before the people of Israel so they would eat food sacrificed to idols and commit sexual immorality. In the same way, there are also some among you who follow the teaching of the Nicolatians. Therefore, repent! If not, I will come against you quickly and make war against those people with the sword of My mouth. The one who has an ear had better hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers, “overcomes” I will give him some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and on that stone will be written a new name that no one can understand except the one who receives it.’

(Revelations 2:18- “To the angel of the church in THYATIRA write the following: “This is the solemn pronouncement of the Son of God, the One who has eyes like a fiery flame and whose feet are like polished bronze: ‘I know your deeds: your love, faith, service, and steadfast endurance. In fact, your more recent deeds are greater than your earlier ones. But I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, and by her teaching deceives My servants to commit sexual immorality and to EAT food sacrificed to idols. I have given her time to repent, but she is not willing to repent of her sexual immorality. Look! I am throwing her onto a bed of violent ILLNESS, and those who commit adultery with her into terrible suffering, unless they repent of her deeds. Furthermore, I will strike her followers with a deadly DISEASE, and then all the churches will know that I am the One who searches minds and hearts. I will repay each one of you what your deeds deserve. But to the rest of you in Thyatira, all who do not hold to this teaching (who have NOT learned the so-called “deep secrets of Satan”), to you I say: I do not put any additional burden on you. However, hold on to what you have until I come. And to the one who conquers “overcomes” and who continues in My deeds until the end, I will give him authority over the nations – he will rule them with an iron rod and like clay jars he will break them to pieces, just as I have received the right to rule from My Father – and I will give him the morning star. The one who has an ear had better hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’

(Revelations 3:1-6; “To the angel of the church in SARDIS write the following: “This is the solemn pronouncement of the One who holds the seven spirits of God and the seven stars: ‘I know your deeds, that you have a reputation that you are alive, but in reality you are dead. Wake up then, and strengthen what remains that was about to die, because I have not found your deeds complete in the sight of My God. Therefore, remember what you RECEIVED and heard, and OBEY it, and REPENT. If you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will never know at what hour I will come against you. But you have a few individuals in SARDIS who have not stained their clothes, and they will walk with Me dressed in white, because they are worthy. The one who conquers “overcomes” will be dressed like them in white clothing, and I will never ERASE his name from the book of life, but will declare his name before My Father and before His angels. The one who has an ear had better hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’

(Revelations 3:7-13; “To the angel of the church in PHILIDEPHIA write the following:

“This is the solemn pronouncement of the Holy One, the True One, who holds the key of David, who opens doors no one can shut, and shuts doors no one can open: ‘I know your deeds. (Look! I have put in front of you an open door that no one can shut.) I know that you have little strength, but you have obeyed My Word and have not denied My name. Listen! I am going to make those people from the SYNAGOGUE of Satan – who say they are Jews “Christians” yet are NOT, but are lying – Look, I will make them come and bow down at your feet and acknowledge that I have loved you. Because you have KEPT My admonition to ENDURE steadfastly, I will also KEEP you from the hour of testing that is about to come on the WHOLE world to test those who live on the earth. I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have so that no one can take away your crown. The one who conquers “overcomes” I will make a pillar in the temple of My God, and he will never depart from it. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God (the new Jerusalem that comes down out of heaven from My God), and My new name as well. The one who has an ear had better hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’

(Revelations 3:14- “To the angel of the church in LAODICEA write the following:

“This is the solemn pronouncement of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ORIGINATOR of God’s creation: (see John 1:1-5 & Colossians 1:15-20) ‘I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either cold or hot! So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I am going to vomit you out of My mouth! Because you say, “I am rich and have acquired great wealth, and need nothing,” but do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked, take My advice and buy gold from Me refined by fire so you can become rich! Buy from Me white clothing so you can be clothed and your shameful nakedness will not be exposed, and buy eye salve to put on your eyes so you can see! All those I love, I rebuke and DICIPLINE. So be earnest and repent! Listen! I am standing at the door and knocking! If anyone hears My voice and opens the door I will come into his home and share a meal with him, and he with Me. I will grant the one who conquers “overcomes” permission to sit with Me on My throne, just as I too conquered and sat down with My Father on His throne. The one who has an ear had better hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’”)

We are quite sure that Paul was not privileged to see Jesus’ revelations to John before his death. He would have pointed the Church of God at Corinth, to these messages to the churches. Today’s worldly churches that call themselves Christian are practicing the ways of Balaam and love the ways of the Nicolaitians. May we hold fast to Jesus’ faith, His gifted understandings and pray for persevering characteristics

Paul’s Letters to God’s churches, supporting text & commentary, chapter 35

Saturday, October 22nd, 2016

God’s 7th month, Tishrei 20, 5777, 10/22/16. To followers of Jesus.

Spiritual peace is through The Light, “Jesus.” People believing IN Jesus’ message are His Elect and only if possible can be deceived. (See Matthew 24:22, 24 & 31.)

(Ephesians 2:17-22; “And He came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near, so that through Him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. So then you are no longer foreigners and non-citizens, but you are fellow citizens with the Saints and members of God’s household, because you, “followers of Jesushave been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the cornerstone. In Him the whole building, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.”)

Paul taught the Corinthians the same. We Believers Ionly N are individual temples of God, “in the spirit.

(1 Cor 3:11-15; “For no one can lay any foundation other than what is being laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw, each builder’s work will be plainly seen, for the Day will make it clear, because it will be revealed by fire. And the fire will test what kind of work each has done. If what someone has built survives, he will receive a reward. (15) If someone’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss. He himself will be saved, but only as through fire.”) (In an attempt to clarify the referent, some translations add “of Christ” after “Day”; others specify this as “judgment day” or “the day of judgment.” The Day refers to the Day of the Lord Jesus Christ, when each Christian worker will appear before Christ for evaluation of his ministry.

This world’s fleshly, instinctive minded teachers are blinded to the fact that many will be saved during Jesus’ millennial reign! Become Believers IN Jesus’ truth when it’s revealed to them. Paul’s constant motivation, as ours should be, “be pleasing to the Lord in that day and receive his commendation. See 2 Cor 5:9-10 & 1 Cor 4:5).

(1 Cor 3:16-17; “Do you, “Christians” not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you? If someone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, which is what you are.”)

It’s the mystery not understood by a majority of professing Christians. Unless God’s spirit lives in us; we are not Christ Like. Getting people to think in this regard is a problem, because of demonic influences on this world’s system of things. People gifted to Believe IN Jesus’ truth, “desire to live it.” The holy spirit in us does not make us do, “but gives us the desire to be like Jesus.” NOW if not careful, we individually may become like those Believers in the Corinth Church of God. Jesus’ apostles teaches us the things we need to guard against.

(1Cor 3:18-23; “Guard against self-deception, each of you. If someone among you thinks he is wise in this age, let him become foolish so that he can become wise. For the wisdom of this age is foolishness with God. As it is written, “He catches the wise in their craftiness.” And again, “The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.” So then, no more boasting about mere mortals! For everything belongs to you, whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future. Everything belongs to you, and you belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God.”)

The many people calling themselves Christian boast about their favorite teacher, etc.

(1Cor 4:1-5; “One should think about us, “we apostles” this way – as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. Now what is sought in stewards is that one be found faithful. So for me, it is a minor matter that I am judged by you or by any human court. In fact, I do not even judge myself. For I am not aware of anything against myself, but I am not acquitted because of this. The one who judges me is the Lord. So then, do not judge anything before the time. Wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the motives of hearts. Then each will receive recognition from God.”)

Attempting to examine oneself in Jesus’ light isn’t judging. May we realize that God knows us better than we can know ourselves. Thus only He can judge righteously.

The Feast of Unleavened Bread Principle.

(1Cor 4-6-13; “I have applied these things to myself and Apollos because of you, brothers and sisters, so that through us you may learn “not to go beyond what is written,” so that none of you will be puffed up in favor of the one against the other. For who concedes you any superiority? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you received it, why do you boast as though you did not? Already you are satisfied! Already you are rich! You have become kings without us! I wish you had become kings so that we could reign with you! For, I think, God has exhibited us apostles last of all, as men condemned to die, because we have become a spectacle to the world, both to angels and to people. (10) We are fools for Christ, but you are wise in Christ! We are weak, but you are strong! You are distinguished, we are dishonored! To the present hour we are hungry and thirsty, poorly clothed, brutally treated, and without a roof over our heads. We do hard work, toiling with our own hands. When we are verbally abused, we respond with a blessing, when persecuted, we endure, when people lie about us, we answer in a friendly manner. We are the world’s dirt and scum, even now.

Warns as a father.

(1Cor 4:14-21; “I am not writing these things to shame you, but to correct you as my dear children. For though you may have ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers, because I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel. I encourage you, then, be imitators of me. For this reason, I have sent Timothy to you, who is my dear and faithful son in the Lord. He will remind you of my ways in Christ, as I teach them everywhere in every church. Some have become arrogant, as if I were not coming to you. But I will come to you soon, if the Lord is willing, and I will find out not only the talk of these arrogant people, but also their power. (20) For the kingdom of God is demonstrated not in idle talk but with power. What do you want? Shall I come to you with a rod of discipline or with love and a spirit of gentleness?)

Jesus’ apostles taught the churches to lovingly and prayerfully shun those who turned from the faith, so they would repent. After God the Father and God the Son are revealed, a turning to Jesus’ righteous practices and from things that are lawless in God’s View is desired. Acknowledgment of A Belief IN Jesus is essential. Unbelievers do attempt to deceive congregations, usually a person with credentials desiring to lord over and twist Jesus’ good news. Paul’s message reminds Believers about how they first believed IN, how they were gifted to understand through their hearing and were spiritually led to practice love as defined by God..

Jesus’ good news went out with power and tangible miracles, establishing that He is Creator, One through whom eternal life is inherited and whose promises are sure. His doing instantaneous healings, resurrecting Lazarus and doing like miracles through His apostles, partially fulfills the prophecies He inspired. Final fulfillments will be during His millennial kingdom. Jesus’ first recorded miracle, turning water to aged wine established Him as Creator. Jesus said; “Blessed are the people who have not seen and yet have believed.” (John 20:29.)

Indication being, people would not always see instantaneous healings etc. A lesson for us is that Jesus’ apostle Thomas was slow to believe IN Jesus’ resurrection, we have the written account of when Thomas first saw the resurrected Jesus at John 20:24-29. After seeing and feeling Jesus, Thomas said; “My Lord and my God!” Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen Me? Blessed are the people who have not seen and yet have believed.” These things are recorded, in part, so we may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing IN we may inherit “eternal” life through Him.

(John 20:30-31; “Now Jesus performed many other miraculous signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are recorded so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have “eternal” life in His name.”)

God’s miraculously revealing Himself and His Son, makes the need for signs and miracles unnecessary to we to whom He is revealed.

(Matt 16:4; “A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah. Then He left them and went away.”)

Jesus’ resurrection after three days and nights, as was Jonah in the fish‘s belly, is the only sign promised. Apostles, evangelist, pastors and deacons in Paul’s age contend with people’s slackness regarding believing IN through faith and overcoming their fleshly nature. Believing IN, overcoming temptations and our self serving way of get is commanded. Each Christian group has the responsibility to shun people that turn from the faith. When membership for the sake of numerical growth becomes the norm, churches become social clubs. This became a problem in the Corinth Church of God and is recorded for our learning. Let’s understand Paul’s concern.

(1 Cor 5:1-2; “It is actually reported that sexual immorality exists among you, the kind of immorality that is not permitted even among the Gentiles, so that someone is cohabiting with his father’s wife. (2) And you are proud! Shouldn’t you have been deeply sorrowful instead and removed the one who did this from among you?”)

The Corinth leadership lost purity concerns in the assembly. Shunning should not be done in a sneaky manner. When a person slips from God’s Way, he must be told and if a turning back isn’t evident, “then the assembly must shun.”

(1 Timothy 3:1-16; “This saying is trustworthy: “If someone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a good work.” The overseer then must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, an able teacher, not a drunkard, not violent, but gentle, not contentious, free from the love of money. He must manage his own household well and keep his children in control without losing his dignity. But if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for the church of God? (6) He must not be a recent convert or he may become arrogant and fall into the punishment that the devil will exact. And he must be well thought of by those outside the faith, so that he may not fall into disgrace and be caught by the devil’s trap. (8) Deacons likewise must be dignified, not two-faced, not given to excessive drinking, not greedy for gain, holding to the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience. And these also must be tested first and then let them serve as deacons if they are found blameless. Likewise also their wives must be dignified, not slanderous, temperate, faithful in every respect. (12) Deacons must be husbands of one wife and good managers of their children and their own households. For those who have served well as deacons gain a good standing for themselves and great boldness in the faith that is in Christ Jesus. I hope to come to you soon, but I am writing these instructions to you in case I am delayed, to let you know how people ought to conduct themselves in the household of God, because it is the church of the living God, the support and bulwark of the truth. (16) And we all agree, our religion contains amazing revelation: JESUS was revealed in the flesh, vindicated by the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among Gentiles, believed on in the world, taken up in glory.”)

These things are revealed to God’s chosen. The principle of turning from the way that seems right to our fleshly nature and to God’s Revealed Truth Way was revealed to Paul.

God’s 7th month, Tishrei 16, 5777, 10/18/16. To followers of Jesus.

We that observe the Sabbaths, “the seventh day and the seven annual” catch flack and in many cases persecution for doing so. Some accuse us of attempting salvation by works, but it’s they that maintain, “there is a method by which one can be saved.” Jesus, His apostles and we Believers IN emphatically teach that God does the calling and fathering.

Encouragement in Persecution

(2 Thessalonians 1::5-12; “This is evidence of God’s righteous judgment, to make you worthy of the kingdom of God, for which in fact you are suffering. For it is right for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you, and to you who are being afflicted to give rest together with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels. With flaming fire He will mete out punishment on those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will undergo the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His strength, when He comes to be glorified among His Saints and admired on that day among all who have believed – and you did in fact believe our testimony. And in this regard we pray for you always, that our God will make you worthy of His calling and fulfill by His power your every desire for goodness and every work of faith, that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.”)

(John 1:11-13; “He, “Jesus” came to what was His own, but His own people did not receive Him. But to all who have received Him – those who believe in His name – He has given the right to become God’s children – children not born by human parents or by human desire or a husband’s decision, but by God.”) If we believe IN, God gave it.

Heavenly Father: please give all truth seekers a zeal to study prayerfully and the desire to practice Your Way. May we prayerfully yield to the mind of Jesus as we pray that our kingdom soon be established on earth. In the nature of Jesus we ask. AMEN

When given the desire and opportunity to study the holy scriptures, contemplate on God’s Way and fail to do so; we may be asked why, on That Day? Methodology thinkers don’t realize that Satan is the god this world’s system of things, thus they succumbed to the demonic. Attempting to be people’s provider, governments play god to their populations. For the most part, bureaucratic governments and educational leaders aren’t led to believe IN and so, have no regard for our Creator and His Ways. How so? They play into a system of bureaucrats scratching bureaucrats backs to gain support. They keep status quo’s in place, at the expense of tax payers. Making particular degree certificates required for various vocations etc. Methodology thinking churches mimic this same bureaucratic thinking. A love of money is the foundational error that keeps societies condoning bureaucrats making merchandise of them. Once in place, it’s almost impossible for societies to rid themselves of such bureaucratic enslavement.

The holy scriptures teach followers of Jesus that it’s natural for unbelievers to desire lordship over others. This began to happen in God’s churches during the apostolic time. True to Jesus’ predictions, it became more prevalent after His apostles died. Wolves in sheep clothing came in, disrupted people’s thinking and kicked true Believers out. Christians had to scatter to avoid persecution and for the most part, we will be scattered until Jesus returns. The apostle Paul was careful to distinguish himself from false apostles. May we take notice.

(1 Cor 2:1-5; “When I came to you, brothers and sisters, I did not come with superior eloquence or wisdom as I proclaimed the testimony of God. For I decided to be concerned about nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. And I was with you in weakness and in fear and with much trembling. (4) My conversation and my preaching were not with persuasive words of wisdom, but with a demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith would not be based on human wisdom but on the power of God.”)

God’s power gives life to the dead, open minds and defeats the devil through Jesus. When false teachers intruded and spoke of their heritage, education and such, Paul did defend his own human credentials. False teachers caused confusion, then persecution as they forcefully took the lead and falsely accused Christ Like people. Consider Paul’s summation to the Hebrews about the combination of Jesus’ faith and the persecutions of Believers IN, from the time of Gideon, to and through the apostolic era.

(Hebrews 11:32-40; “And what more shall I say? For time will fail me if I tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets. Through faith they conquered kingdoms, administered justice, gained what was promised, shut the mouths of lions, quenched raging fire, escaped the edge of the sword, gained strength in weakness, became mighty in battle, put foreign armies to flight, and women received back their dead raised to life. But others were tortured, NOT accepting release, to obtain RESURECTION to a better life. And others experienced mocking and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, sawed apart, murdered with the sword; they went about in sheepskins and goatskins; they were destitute, afflicted, ill-treated (38) (the world was not worthy of them); they wandered in deserts and mountains and caves and openings in the earth. And these all were commended for their faith, yet they did not receive what was promised. For God had provided something better for us, so that they would be made perfect together with us.”)

One persecuting accusation the fleshly minded used against Christians was their accusation that Jesus was not miraculously conceived. They couldn’t fathom Jesus being the Son of God. They held to a three in one doctrine. Christians believing IN God the Father and God the Son were expelled for believing in both. Soon these same persecutors began praying to Jesus’ mother, making imaginary statues with haloes.

(1 Cor 2:6-7; “Now we do speak wisdom among the mature, but not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are perishing. Instead we speak the wisdom of God, hidden in a mystery, that God determined before the ages for our glory.”)

Revealed knowledge, that worldly religions can’t grasp the awesomeness of. Determining things before the ages and the glory of God’s calling. “His chosen!” His putting His spirit in minds of chosen individuals. God’s wisdom is purposely hidden from this world’s unbelievers.

(1 Cor 2:8-9; “None of the rulers of this age understood it. If they had known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. But just as it is written, “Things that no eye has seen, or ear heard, or mind imagined, are the things God has prepared for those who love Him.”)

The holy scriptures recognize Jesus as the prophesied Messiah, Savior, the Son of God and coming King of Kings. The rich and folks in high positions, are for the most part purposely blinded, regarding Jesus’ personage.

(1 Cor 2:10-16; “God has revealed these to us “the called” by the Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who among men knows the things of a man except the man’s spirit within him? So too, no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God, “within him.” Now we “Believers IN” have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things that are freely given to us by God. (13) And we speak about these things, not with words taught US by human wisdom, but with those taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual things to spiritual people. The unbeliever does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him. And he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. The one who is spiritual discerns all things, yet he himself is understood by no one. (16) For who has known the mind of the Lord, so as to advise him? But we “Christians” have the mind of Christ.”)

PAUL is writing with authority, from our Creator. Christians are folks “born from above” “fathered by God.” We Believers IN, have “are gifted with” the mind of Christ. Gifted with a mind set that desires to be lovingly obedient and overcome to the end! JESUS knows our situation. He came and lived in the flesh and experienced humanity. Paul taught the Hebrews, that Jesus learned obedience through the things He suffered.

(Hebrews 5:7-10; “During His earthly life Christ offered both requests and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to the One who was able to save Him from death and He was heard because of His devotion. Although He was a Son, He learned obedience through the things He suffered. And by being perfected in this way, He became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey Him, and He was designated by God as high priest in the order of Melchizedek.”)

Should we who are “born from above” NOT have to learn from the things we suffer? Should we not go through a growing process as did Jesus? The holy spirit leads us to be alert to revelation, the things that happen to and around us, thus we are led to practice obedience to God. The people in God’s church at Corinth had not grown as Paul expected. Fleshly influences took hold. Many had not stayed true to Paul’s spiritual teaching. Unbelievers secretly slipped in. These things are written for our learning.

(1 Cor 3:1-4; “So, brothers and sisters, I could not speak to you as spiritual people, but instead as people of the flesh, as infants in Christ. I fed you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready. In fact, you are still not ready, for you are still influenced by the flesh. For since there is still jealousy and dissension among you, are you not influenced by the flesh and behaving like unregenerate people? (4) For whenever someone says, “I am with Paul,” or “I am with Apollos,” “are you not merely human?”)

YES, “merely human” fleshly naïve when we look to personalities rather than proving Jesus’ message. Born again Believers IN are not, “merely human” but live Jesus’ way, walk as believes IN and practice obedience.

(1 Cor 3:5-10; “What is Apollos really? Or what is Paul? Servants through whom you came to believe, and each of us in the ministry the Lord gave us. I planted, Apollos watered, but God caused it to grow. So neither the one who plants counts for anything, nor the one who waters, but God who causes the growth. (8) The one who plants and the one who waters work as one, but each will receive his reward according to his work. We. “apostles” are coworkers belonging to God. You are God’s field, God’s building. (10) According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master-builder I laid a foundation, but someone else builds on it. And each one must be careful how he builds.”)

Only with the truth, can one build a church of God. Personality and charisma without truth builds a fleshly social club, “not an assembly of God.” Fleshly minded people aren’t careful how they build, they only want to lord over. They want to boast of their accomplishments. This nature in mankind causes denominationalist to boast about their church, their faith and their membership numbers.

God’s 7th month, Tishrei 14, 5777, 10/16/16. To followers of Jesus.

Today at sunset is the beginning of the Feast of Booths, “Feast of Tabernacles.” It is the sixth of God’s seven Annual Sabbaths. The Israelites living in temporary booths for seven days, exemplary of our fleshly bodies being temporary. The eighth day is, the seventh of seven annual holy Sabbaths and called, “The Last Great Day.” The Last Great Day pictures final judgment, “a second death and final judgment to the disobedient.”

(Revelations 21:7-8; “The one who conquers will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son. But to the cowards, unbelievers, detestable persons, murderers, the sexually immoral, and those who practice magic spells, idol worshipers, and all those who lie, their place will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur. That is the second death.”)

Our judge is Jesus’ words. (John 12:47-50; “If anyone hears My words and does not obey them, I do not judge him. For I have not come to judge the world, but to save the world.” (48-50; The one who rejects Me and does not accept My words has a judge; the word I have spoken will judge him at the last day. For I have not spoken from My own authority, but the Father Himself who sent Me has commanded Me what I should say and what I should speak. And I know that His commandment is eternal life. Thus the things I say, I say just as the Father has told Me.”)

Jesus came as The Light to the world, but the world did not recognize Him. The world will recognize Him after He returns and Satan is bound.

Heavenly Father: thank You for the blessing of believing IN You, Your Son Jesus and His promises. Thank You for Your gifted spirit, joy, peace, knowledge and love of one another. We praise You and ask that You help us be thankful. In Jesus’ name we ask. AMEN.

Gifted Light to God’s church at Corinth, and we followers of Jesus.

Paul spent much time in Corinth. This ancient Greek city’s ruins are about 50 miles west of Athens. He and co-workers established The Church of God at Corinth and other places. These mostly gentiles were being influenced by Judaism and paganism. Both groups were tempted to turn back to the old fleshly nature and old customs. The devil always wants to hinder spiritual understanding and growth.

(1 Cor 1:1-3; From Paul, called to be an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Sosthenes, our brother: to the church of God that is in Corinth, to those who are sanctified, set apart” in Christ Jesus, and called to be Saints, with all those in every place who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours. Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!”)

Note that each apostle’s letter goes out from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ with authority. They had authority to say, “from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” Taught directly by Jesus personally or through gifted revelation. Each were set aside as ambassador’s of Jesus and God’s Kingdom. All Christians are called to be ambassadors. Each having various responsibilities in relation to God gifted talents. Paul is writing to the Saints in every place, to all who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

(1 Cor 1:4-9; I always thank my God for you, “followers of Jesus” because of the grace of God that was given to you in Christ Jesus. For you were MADE rich in every way in Him, in all your speech and in every kind of knowledge just as the testimony about Christ has been confirmed among you – so that you do not lack any spiritual gift as you wait for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ. (8) He will also strengthen you to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, by whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.)

Note the lessons: God called, made, reveals and promises to strengthen to the end, that we may have fellowship with His Son, Jesus. God grows us in every kind of knowledge and teaches us to be cautious with our speech.

(1 Cor 1:10-17; “I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to agree together, to end your divisions, and to be united by the same mind and purpose. For members of Chloe’s household have made it clear to me, my brothers and sisters, that there are quarrels among you. Now I mean this, that each of you is saying, “I am with Paul,” or “I am with Apollos,” or “I am with Peter,” or “I am with Christ.”

(13-17; “Is Christ divided? Paul wasn’t crucified for you, was he? Or were you in fact baptized in the name of Paul? I thank God that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius, so that no one can say that you were baptized in my name! (I also baptized the household of Stephanus. Otherwise, I do not remember whether I baptized anyone else. (17) For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel – and not with clever speech, so that the cross of Christ would not become useless.”)

Paul did not want to use his speaking proficiency, because he knew the weakness in human nature. Naïve people are easily persuaded by flamboyancy. Many have yielded to the flesh, demonic influences and built false cults. Paul could have used clever speech, bringing attention to himself, rather than Jesus. Naïve people think personalities, rather than, “the message.” Jesus’ apostles were careful, NOT wanting to be overly esteemed.

(1 Cor 1:18; “For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to we who are being saved it is the power of God.”)

Believers are in the state of being saved to eternal life. Unbelievers are in a state of perishing while in their temporary bodies..

(1 Cor 1:19; “For it is written, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and I will thwart the cleverness of the intelligent.”)

Paul was mindful of Jesus’ inspiring Isaiah’ words.

(Isaiah 29:13-16; The sovereign Master says, “These people say they are loyal to Me; they say wonderful things about Me, but they are not really loyal to Me. Their worship consists of nothing but man-made ritual. Therefore I will again do an amazing thing for these people – an absolutely extraordinary deed. Wise men will have nothing to say, the sages will have no explanations.” Those who try to hide their plans from the Lord are as good as dead, who do their work in secret and boast, ‘Who sees us? Who knows what we’re doing?’ Your thinking is perverse! Should the potter be regarded as clay? Should the thing made say about its maker, “He didn’t make me”? Or should the pottery say about the potter, “He doesn’t understand”?)

(1 Cor 1:19-25; “Where is the wise man? Where is the expert in the Mosaic law? Where is the debater of this age? Has God not made the wisdom of the world foolish? For since in the wisdom of God the world by its wisdom did not know God, God was pleased to save those who believe by the foolishness of preaching. For Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks ask for wisdom, but we preach about a crucified Christ, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles. (24) But to those who are CALLED, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God. (25) For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.”)

Paul’s and Isaiah’s text, speak to this latter age! Through the power of preaching sound words, God reveals Jesus, opens minds, calls people out and grants repentance to individual minds. NOW consider more from Isaiah’s 29th chapter as he speaks to the coming millennial age .

(Isaiah 29:17-24; ““In just a very short time Lebanon will turn into an orchard, and the orchard will be considered a forest. At that time the deaf will be able to hear words read from a scroll, and the eyes of the blind will be able to see through deep darkness. The downtrodden will again rejoice in the Lord; the poor among humankind will take delight in the Holy One of Israel. For tyrants will disappear, those who taunt will vanish, and all those who love to do wrong will be eliminated – those who bear false testimony against a person, who entrap the one who arbitrates at the city gate and deprive the innocent of justice by making false charges. So this is what the Lord, the one who delivered Abraham, says to the family of Jacob: “Jacob, “Israel, followers of Jesus” will no longer be ashamed; their faces will no longer show their embarrassment. For when they see their children, whom I will produce among them, they will honor My name. They will honor the Holy One of Jacob; they will respect the God of Israel. Those who stray morally will gain understanding; those who complain will acquire insight.”)

Some people are ashamed that they believe IN the God of Abraham, because to do so makes them out to be strange in this deceived age. Jesus had the holy prophets write about God’s kingdom being established on earth.

(1 Cor 1:26-31; “Think about the circumstances of your call, brothers and sisters. Not many were wise by human standards, not many were powerful, not many were born to a privileged position. But God CHOSE what the world thinks foolish to shame the wise, and God CHOSE what the world thinks weak to shame the strong. God CHOSE what is low and despised in the world, what is regarded as nothing, to set aside what is regarded as something, so that no one can boast in His presence. He “God the Father” is the reason you have a relationship with Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification and redemption, (31) so that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”) God the Father’s CHOOSING is the reason we have a relationship with Christ Jesus!

Characteristically God works through the weak and brings about what seems impossible to people. Think of Jacob; he was the weak brother. Think of John the Baptist being born to parents past their age. In verse 31 Paul is referencing Jeremiah 9:, so, let’s get a feel for how Jesus had Jeremiah pen this.

(Jeremiah 9:23-26; The Lord says, “Wise people should not boast that they are wise.

Powerful people should not boast that they are powerful. Rich people should not boast that they are rich. (24) If people want to boast, they should boast about this: They should boast that they understand and know Me. They should boast that they know and understand that I, the Lord, act out of faithfulness, fairness, and justice in the earth and that I desire people to do these things,” says the Lord. (25) The Lord says, “Watch out! The time is soon coming when I will PUNISH all those who are circumcised ONLY in the flesh. (26) That is, I will punish the Egyptians, the Judeans, the Edomites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, and all the desert people who cut their hair short at the temples. I will do so because none of the people of those nations are really circumcised in the Lord’s sight. Moreover, none of the people of Israel are circumcised when it comes to their hearts.”)

People ONLY circumcised in the flesh, normally apply self righteous pride to their doing things, worshiping laws rather than the law giver and customs handed down from paganism. It seems that no one understands the connection of cutting hair short at the temples, to circumcision. What we do understand is that in God’s sight, “circumcision should be of the heart.” Physical circumcision always looked forward to the spiritual circumcision of our thinking.

Wise, powerful and the rich get praise of people, make merchandise of those they pretend to serve. Governments of man always make merchandise of people. The love of money and what it can do, is the root of all evil. (see 1 Timothy 8:10) Fleshly man has nothing to boast about. Jesus is saying through Jeremiah, “if people must boast, they should boast that they understand and know Me.” Who can understand and know our Creator, except He reveal Himself? To Believers IN it’s clear that God does the choosing, calling and grants His gift of repentance. Believers IN will be in the first and spiritual resurrection.

God is the judge, knowing the hearts of all people and all will be judged according to their deeds and Jesus‘ Word. When? At His timing. There will be a second resurrection and a second death for the disobedient, “eternal life for many.” See the result for refusing to believe IN, “refusing to repentant.” (See Revelations 2:11. 20:6, 20:14 & 21:8)

Paul’s Letters to God’s churches, supporting text & commentary, chapter 32

Saturday, October 15th, 2016

God’s 7th month, Tishrei 13, 5777, 10/15/16. To followers of Jesus.

When it comes to life’s practices and God’s Way, the vast majority think there is no such thing as, “the truth or absolutes” Not surprising to our Creator nor to His people. Jesus foretold it as recorded at Matthew 24: Jesus had His prophets foretell this mental condition, long before it was revealed to His apostles. “No absolute teaching” is of the devil. There can be no moral unity nor spiritual cohesiveness in communities, families and nations when such thinking prevails. When this “no absolute” demonic lie is accepted people are vulnerable to confusions.

Thinking God’s doctrinal truths differs for different individuals is equally absurd. Such thinking is a demonic ploy, a major divisionary deception Satan has put forth. Satan’s strategy causes people groups to assume, “condoning every doctrine is the way to peace.” Naïve populations don’t understand that such condoning leads to moral declines, “likened to Sodom and Gomorra’s.” It’s prophesied, Satan’s deceptions will cause people to worship an image of the beast and a miracle working demonically led individual, before Jesus returns. To cap it off, Satan is manifesting himself and his followers as angels of light. Jesus revealed the following to His apostle John and we believers.

(Rev 13:11-18; “Then I saw another beast coming up from the earth. He had two horns like a lamb, but was speaking like a dragon. He exercised all the ruling authority of the first beast on his behalf, and made the earth and those who inhabit it worship the first beast, the one whose lethal wound had been healed. (13) He performed momentous signs, even making fire come down from heaven in front of people and, by the signs he was permitted to perform on behalf of the beast, he deceived those who live on the earth. He told those who live on the earth to make an image to the beast who had been wounded by the sword, but still lived. (15) The second beast was empowered to give life to the image of the first beast so that it could speak, and could cause all those who did not worship the image of the beast to be killed. He also caused everyone (small and great, rich and poor, free and slave) to obtain a mark on their right hand or on their forehead. Thus no one was allowed to buy or sell things unless he bore the mark of the beast – that is, his name or his number. This calls for wisdom: Let the one who has insight calculate the beast’s number, for it is man’s number, and his number is 666.”)

Only people to whom the message of Jesus’ good news is revealed to, “His Elect” will not be deceived. Only in recent years is the working of such a thing understood. This age of computer chips and bar coding makes such a system work. When our Creator and His message isn’t believed IN, this world’s populations are vulnerable to all that is demonic. Study Jesus’ revelations to John. Read it out loud as Jesus suggest.

(Rev 14:9-12; “A third angel followed the first two, declaring in a loud voice: “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and takes the mark on his forehead or his hand, that person will also drink of the wine of God’s anger that has been mixed undiluted in the cup of His wrath and he will be tortured with fire and sulfur in front of the holy angels and in front of the Lamb. And the smoke from their torture will go up forever and ever, and those who worship the beast and his image will have no rest day or night, along with anyone who receives the mark of his name. ”This requires the steadfast endurance of the Saints – those who obey God’s commandments and hold to their faith in Jesus.”)

Our belief must be in Jesus, “not a conjured up personal faith.” God’s commandments include remembering His Sabbaths!

(Rev 19:19-21; “Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies assembled to do battle with the One who rode the horse and with His army. Now the beast was seized, and along with him the false prophet who had performed the signs on his behalf – signs by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. Both of them were thrown alive into the lake of fire burning with sulfur. The others were killed by the sword that extended from the mouth of the One who rode the horse, and all the birds gorged themselves with their flesh.”)

God is allowing Satan to deceive modern fleshly thinkers, “those attempting to respect all religions equally.” People discounting the validity of God’s holy scriptures.

To a Samaritan woman, Jesus said; “You people worship what you do not know.” We worship what we know, because salvation is from the Jews, (Those whom God reveals Himself.) But a time is coming – and now is here – when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such people to be His worshipers. God is spirit, and the people who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” John 4:22-24)

Jesus’ Truth was revealed to His apostles, Paul explained to the Galatians and all followers of Jesus, “that the called are by promise as was Isaac.” Review the previous study.

(Gal 4:28-31; “But you, brothers and sisters, are children of the promise like Isaac. But just as at that time the one born by natural descent persecuted the one born according to the Spirit, so it is now. (30) But what does the scripture say? “Throw out the slave woman and her son, for the son of the slave woman will not share the inheritance with the son” of the free woman. Therefore, brothers and sisters, we are not children of the slave woman but of the free woman.”)

Christians are Believers IN by promise, as was Isaac. Christ like people are such because of God‘s fathering, a people, “born from above.” Fleshly instinctive minded people are those of natural descent and have animosity toward God’s chosen. God’s chosen may exercise gifted freedom in Jesus and practice His Way, avoiding the bondage Satan has the world in.

(Gal 5:1-6; “For freedom Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not be subject again to the yoke of slavery. Listen! I, Paul, tell you that if you allow yourselves be circumcised, “for the purpose of gaining salvation.” Christ will be of no benefit to you at all! And I testify again to every man who lets himself be circumcised, “thinking it saves” that he is obligated to obey the whole law. You who are trying to be declared righteous by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace! For through the Spirit, by faith, we wait expectantly for the hope of righteousness. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor un-circumcision carries any weight – the only thing that matters is, “Jesus’” faith working through love.”)

Obedience must be from a love of God point of view. Loving the spiritual intent of His law. It’s ridiculous to think Paul’s meaning is, “if one lets themselves be circumcised, they loose the benefit of salvation.” The principle in scripture is, “if a person thinks salvation is by the law, then the whole law must be kept perfectly! Paul had to contend with those teaching that circumcision was a must for salvation.

Feast of Unleavened Bread’s Principle Discussed.

(Gal 5:7-12; “You, “followers of Jesus” were running well, who prevented you from obeying the truth? This persuasion does not come from the One who calls you! A little yeast makes the whole batch of dough rise! I am confident in the Lord that you will accept no other view. But the one who is confusing you will pay the penalty, whoever he may be. Now, brothers and sisters, if I am still preaching circumcision, “for salvation” why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been removed. (12) I wish those agitators would go so far as to castrate themselves!”)

Yeast is that which puffs up and pictures sin. Paul is likely writing, after Passover and during the week of Unleavened Bread, thus his analogy to yeast puffing up.

Fleshly Minded Opposed to Spiritual Minded.

(Gal 5:13-21; “For you, “Christians” were called to freedom, brothers and sisters, only do not use your freedom as an opportunity to indulge your flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole law can be summed up in a single commandment, namely, “You must love your neighbor as yourself.” However, if you continually bite and devour one another, beware that you are not consumed by one another. (16) But I say, live by the Spirit and you will not carry out the desires of the flesh. For the flesh has desires that are opposed to the Spirit, and the Spirit has desires that are opposed to the flesh, for these are in opposition to each other, so that you cannot do what you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, depravity, idolatry, sorcery, hostilities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish rivalries, dissensions, factions, envying, murder, drunkenness, carousing, and similar things. I am warning you, as I had warned you before: Those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God!”)

Compare with Jesus’ revelations to John, at Revelations 21:8. Christians are led to practice God’s righteous Ways, do so with the understanding that God is Truth, God is Love and Jesus died that our lawless, “sins.” nature could be remitted.

(Gal 5:22-26; “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Now those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also behave in accordance with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, being jealous of one another.”)

Compare with 1Corinthians 13:. Behave according to the spirit, is to lovingly obey and worship in spirit and truth.

(Gal 6:1-10; “Brothers and sisters, if a person is discovered in some sin, you who are spiritual restore such a person in a spirit of gentleness. Pay close attention to yourselves, so that you are not tempted too. (2) Carry one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. For if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. Let each one examine his own work. Then he can take pride in himself and not compare himself with someone else. For each one will carry his own load. (6) Now the one who receives instruction in the word must share all good things with the one who teaches it. Do not be deceived. God will not be made a fool. For a person will reap what he sows, because the person who sows to his own flesh will reap corruption from the flesh, but the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit. So we must not grow weary in doing good, for in due time we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, whenever we have an opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who belong to the family of faith.”)

Paul is teaching the principle of overcoming our fleshly nature to the end. Growing in the grace and knowledge of God.

(Gal 6:11-12; “See what big letters I make as I write to you with my own hand! Those who want to make a good showing in external matters are trying to force you to be circumcised. They do so only to avoid being persecuted for the cross of Christ.”)

Our nature is to go with what’s customary. The Pharisee mentality regarding the law prevailed among fleshly thinking Israelites, not wanting to be ostracized by family, community and society.

(Gal 6:13-17; “For those who are circumcised do not obey the law themselves, but they want you to be circumcised so that they can boast about your flesh. (boast of having made a convert) (14) But may I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. For neither circumcision nor un-circumcision counts for anything; the only thing that matters is a new creation! “to be reborn from above.” (16) And all who will behave in accordance with this rule, peace and mercy be on them, and on the Israel of God. (17) From now on let no one cause me trouble, for I bear the marks of Jesus on my body. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers and sisters. Amen.”)

Paul is saying, “he is as one dead to the world and the world is as dead to him.” Agreeing with Jesus’ words, “Paul and followers of Jesus, are in the world but not of the world.” The world is dead to followers of Jesus. Fussing over circumcision and law keeping counts for nothing, all that matters is that Christ Jesus be formed in us, making us a new creation. WHO is the Israel of God? Christians! The word, “Israel” meaning is, “God fights.“ If we belong to Christ, then we are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to the promise.” Gal 3:29. May the love of God grow in us.

Paul’s Letters to God’s churches, supporting text & commentary, chapter 31

Friday, October 14th, 2016

God’s 7th month, Tishrei 12, 5777, 10/14/16. To followers of Jesus.

Almighty God: help us be the servants You called us to be, lead us from temptation and make us know that You are our Deliverer. Thanks for the privilege of asking, AMEN.

When we are led to subscribe to truth, know that God gave the desire. See Philippines 2:13.

The miracle of believing IN God is, “His calling and revealing Himself.” People saying, “we believe IN” doesn’t make it so. Most people saying, “we believe in” actually mean, “we believe that” a god of their imagination exist. It’s by grace that Jesus’ revelations are gifted, thus stringently practicing Jesus’ commandments legalistically can’t save. His Way is to lovingly believe IN, when He is revealed. (Remember Abraham’s believing God was counted for righteousness.) It’s through God’s grace that we believers IN inherit eternal life with Abraham. (See Galatians 3:29) We Believers IN and Abraham were known before the foundation of the world. Jesus knows each Elect, just as He knew Nathanael.

(John 1:47-51; “Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward Him and exclaimed, “Look, a true Israelite in whom there is no deceit!” Nathanael asked Him, “How do you know me?” Jesus replied, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.” Nathanael answered Him, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the king of Israel!” Jesus said to him, “Because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree, do you believe? You will see greater things than these. “I tell all of you the solemn truth – you will see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”)

Believing IN Jesus is to know that He knew and called us, “as He knew His apostle Paul” before the foundation of the world and prepared him ahead of time for the mission he was called to. Paul was a worldly Pharisee, God caused his education and his Roman citizenship to be an assets. Paul was called in spite of himself. Until Jesus revealed Himself, Paul thought of Jesus much like Judaism does today. Paul’s teachings are from the combination of Jesus’ revelations, his previous schooling and experiences in Judaism. Paul made use of all these when he wrote letters to the churches. Jesus’ revelations put a proper perspective on Paul’s education as it does ours.

(Galatians 3:15-18; “Brothers and sisters, I offer an example from everyday life: When a covenant has been ratified, even though it is only a human contract, no one can set it aside or add anything to it. Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his Descendant. Scripture does not say, “and to the descendants,” referring to many, but “and to your Descendant,” referring to One, who is Christ. (17) What I am saying is this: The law that came four hundred thirty years later does not cancel a covenant previously ratified by God, so as to invalidate the promise. (18) For if the inheritance is based on the law, it is no longer based on the promise, but God graciously gave it to Abraham through the promise.”)

When Paul communicated with people about their being called, saved by promise and grace, “he understood firsthand.” That is why he shared his Damascus experience. Paul had been a Pharisee keeper of the law, “thinking law keeping was the way to eternal life.” He didn’t understanding believing IN faith and promises until it was gifted. Now he shares his gifted understanding which is, “to stringently; religiously keep times and rules to gain salvation is idolatrous.”

(Gal 3:19-22; “Why then was the law given? It was added because of transgressions, until the arrival of the Descendant to whom the promise had been made. It “the law” was administered through angels by an intermediary. Now an intermediary is not for one party alone, but God is One, “in purpose.” (21) Is the law therefore opposed to the promises of God? Absolutely not! For if a law had been given that was able to give “eternal” life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law. But the scripture imprisoned everything and everyone under sin so that the promise could be given – because of the faithfulness of Jesus Christ – to those who believe.”)

God the Father and God the Son are One in purpose. Jesus came to do the will of His Father. Since Adam’s sinful disobedience, all his heirs inherited a lawless toward God nature, “born in sin.” Fleshly Israelites needed and God gave them laws for their good and protection. Laws to separate them from the pagans and teach them how to love. God knew what the law would become to His stiff necked people. He knew the law would idolized, “replacing Him in their mind.” He knew people couldn’t understand, believing IN, except they be, “born from above.”

(Gal 3:23; “Now before “Jesus’” faith came we “Israelites” were held in custody under the law, being kept as prisoners until the coming faith would be revealed.”)

Until Jesus is revealed and His faith gifted, we need the law’s guiding lamp. That does not make the law bad! Rather, God’s laws are the best guardians ever gifted to a fleshly minded, instinctive thinking people.

(Gal 3:24; “Thus the law had become our “we Israelites and gentiles” guardian until Christ, so that we could be declared righteous by faith.”)

That is, declared righteous by Jesus’ gifted faith living in us. Until Christ? Until the Son of God is revealed to our minds as He manifest Himself to be in the holy scriptures; “until His faith is imputed to our minds!” Until we can say with Paul; “I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who lives, but Christ lives in me.” Gal 2:20)

(Gal 3:25-29; “But now that, “Jesus’” faith has come, we “Christians” are no longer under a guardian. For in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God through “Jesus’” faith. For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female – for all of you are one in Christ Jesus. (29) And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to the promise.”)

If immersed, “baptized” in Jesus and have put on Jesus, we are heirs by promise as is Abraham. “Mature and grounded in Jesus’ faith.” If we believe IN Jesus, we desire to practice our lives as pleasing to Him.

(Gal 4:1-7; “Now I mean that the heir, as long as he is a minor, is no different from a slave, though he is the owner of everything. But he is under guardians and managers until the date set by his father. So also we, when we were minors, were enslaved under the basic forces of the world. (4) But when the appropriate time had come, God sent out His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we may be adopted as sons with full rights. And because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, who calls “Abba! Father!” So you are no longer a slave but a son, and if you are a son, then you are also an heir through God.”)

Gifted with the spirit of Jesus, “is the imputation of His thinking to our minds.” Thus we look to the Father’s will as did Jesus.

(Gal 4:8-12; “Formerly when you did not know God, you were enslaved to beings that by nature are not gods at all. But now that you have come to know God (or rather to be known by God), how can you turn back again to the weak and worthless basic forces? Do you want to be enslaved to them all over again? (10) You are observing religious days and months and seasons and years. I fear for you that my work for you may have been in vain. I beg you, brothers and sisters, become like me, because I have become like you. You have done me no wrong!”) Remember, Paul is writing to converted gentiles.

God chooses to know those He calls, thus, He reveals Himself. Fleshly, instinctive thinking professing Christians like to use verse 10 as a stand alone text to justify their desire to be disobedience. Through, “Acts of the Apostles” it’s recorded that Paul and others hurried to Jerusalem, to keep God’s feast days. They taught on God’s Sabbaths etc. These Galatians were primarily gentiles, wanting to keep religious times and customs they were accustomed to. (If Paul was referring to God’s Sabbaths; “he is speaking of the manner in which the people were observing” not that they should pay no attention to times holy to God.)

(Gal 4:13-16; “But you know it was because of a physical illness that I first proclaimed the gospel to you, and though my physical condition put you to the test, you did not despise or reject me. Instead, you welcomed me as though I were an angel of God, as though I were Christ Jesus Himself! Where then is your sense of happiness now? For I testify about you that if it were possible, you would have pulled out your eyes and given them to me! So then, have I become your enemy by telling you the truth?” (Now verse 17 is going to make it obvious that Paul is speaking of pagan religious times in verse 10; “not God’s holy times.)

Gal 4:17-20; “They “the imposters” court you eagerly, but for no good purpose; they want to exclude you, so that you would seek them eagerly. However, it is good to be sought eagerly for a good purpose at all times, and not only when I am present with you. My children – I am again undergoing birth pains until Christ is formed in you! I wish I could be with you now and change my tone of voice, because I am perplexed about you.”)

As we grow in the grace and knowledge of God, “Christ is formed in us.” Paul is perplexed at the people’s not staying true to the message heard when they first believed.

(Gal 4:21-23; “Tell me, you who want to be under the law, do you not understand the law? For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the slave woman and the other by the free woman. But one, the son by the slave woman, was born by natural descent, while the other, the son by the free woman, was born through the promise.”)

We, “Believers IN” are made Christ like through promised grace. We are called and chosen, “NOT because of works or any effort on our part.” (Hagar and Sarah represent two covenants.)

(Gal 4:24-27; “These things may be treated as an allegory, for these women represent two covenants. One is from Mount Sinai bearing children for slavery; this is Hagar. (These fleshly minded, needing the law.) (25) Now Hagar represents Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is in slavery with her children. But the Jerusalem above is free, and she is our “we Christians” mother. (27) For it is written: “Rejoice, O barren woman who does not bear children; break forth and shout, you who have no birth pains, because the children of the desolate woman are more numerous than those of the woman who has a husband”)

Believers IN, “Christians” are such by promise as was Isaac. Now Isaac was the weaker of the two brothers, characteristic of God’s calling the weak. Hagar represents folks attempting to conjure up their own faith. Allow Paul definition of Christians.

(1 Corinthians 1:26-31; ““Think about the circumstances of your call, brothers and sisters. He “God the Father” is the reason you have a relationship with Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification and redemption, so that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.””)

Most called out people come from the category the world considers weak. Least likely for success by this world‘s standards. Let us not forget, “God knew us before we knew Him.”
