Ephesians, complementary text and commentary, chapter 6

Sunday, July 30th, 2017

7/30/17, God’s 5th month, Av 6, 5777, and day one until sunset. To 5,109 in resident churches and individuals God is making temples of His Holy Spirit.

A few studies back we shared that God doesn’t change. “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today and forever.” As God planned, so it will be and no one can frustrate His plans. (See Isaiah 14:24-27) We have shared God telling Abraham about certain people groups’ lands being reserved for his heirs because of their sins. Those lands were given to the Israelites after their deliverance from Egypt. We shared God’s destroying Sodom and Gomorrah because of their fleshly sins. God allowing Israelites to be dispersed back among cruel gentile nations because of their disobedience. Now in just a short time, “less than fifty years” we have witnessed so called western nations, USA particularly; turn to the likes of Sodom and Gomorrah. A supreme court twisting the USA’S constitution for beyond what the writers intended. The question all should be thinking about, “when will God say, enough is enough and punish for sinful behavior?

The above demonstrates the flourishing paganism in the USA. Many of us recently watched the christening of the USS Gerald Ford and was struck by the Navy Chaplain’s so called prayer that purposely “named no deity.” His prayer was apparently to whoever might be listening. Reminded me of words Jesus’ apostle Paul noted to have seen in Ephesus, “to the unknown God.” To which Paul responded by preaching Jesus.

(Eph 5:17-21; “Wherefore be you not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.”)

Who is led to seek and find in our inner being, a belief in the God of Abraham? Can a person conjure up a belief IN God, at a time of their choosing? NO, but people can choose practices condoned by God rather than practices designed to honor imaginary gods. People can choose to be good citizens, change habits and worship the god of their imagination. To Believers IN God living at Thessalonica Paul explained.

(1 Thessalonians 5:17-24; “Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. Quench not the Spirit. Despise not prophesying. PROVE all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (24) Faithful is HE that CALLED you, who also will do it.”)

Once gifted to believe IN and turn to God’s Way, we must depend on Him to lead. Know that God’s truth is consistent throughout, He calls, He chooses, He opens minds and He does it all through our Savior, “Jesus.” God is about order, He is the master Architect and Builder. His plan is to save people, adding to His family; “His church.” All based on His view of love, “which is righteousness, holiness and hatred for all that is evil.” His family order and covenant with His church is likened to His expectation for Godly families.

(Eph 5:22-31; “Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and He is the savior of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for it; That He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the Word, That He might PRESENT it to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loves his wife loves himself. For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourishes and cherishes it, even as the Lord the church: For we, ’followers of Jesus’ are members of His body, of His flesh, and of His bones. (31) For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.”) See Genesis 2:23-24)

People put in Jesus’ church are “covenantal God’s family.” Jesus gave His life for His church, “those called to be at one with Himself and God the Father” as the human family structure is commanded to be. So He may present His church to Himself as glorious. “Yielding to and practicing Jesus’ commands is evidence of our believing IN.” “Turning to what is right in His View is evidence of believing IN.” As to the spiritual magnification of His ten commandments, “loving Him and neighbor.” This is God’s pattern of authority and submission of His set aside “sanctified” people that make us free.

(Eph 5:32-33: “This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.”)

The evidence of His spirit in us is, “a believing IN mindset - outlook.” That is; “believing IN God as He manifest Himself to be in the holy scriptures; “totally trust in His Way.” Not our fleshly intellect.

(Gal 5:22-25; “But the fruit “the result and practices” of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.”)

To crucify the flesh one must recognize the flesh’s shortcomings, turn from the lust thereof; abandon what seems right to the mind, prayerfully turning to His Way and practicing love as He loves: Which includes hating what’s evil in His view.

Jesus and each apostle’s instruction to Christians are from the foundation of love. “Love others even as ourselves.” Even non-believer’s living in this age are being observed by our Creator. Attitudes are being formed that may carry over into the millennium. It’s the reason a person’s attitude toward their life situation: whether slave, hired hand, boss, parent or child regarding authority is important. We Christians are spiritually taught to be content in whatever state of living God blesses us with.

(Eph 6:1-3;Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honor your father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) That it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth.” (Some so called Christian religions teach that Paul abandoned the ten commandments. The next three verses prove otherwise.)

(Eph 6:4-9; “And, you fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the FLESH, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; Not with eye service, as men pleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free. And, you masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with Him.”)

Noting that God doesn’t change in principle, let’s consider His prophecy through Jeremiah regarding Judea’s stubbornness. After telling Jeremiah what was about to happen to His people; Jeremiah recorded the following.

(Jeremiah 13:15-27; “Then I said to the people of Judah, “Listen and pay attention! Do not be arrogant! For the Lord has spoken. Show the Lord your God the respect that is due Him. Do it before He brings the darkness of disaster. Do it before you stumble into distress like a traveler on the mountains at twilight. Do it before He turns the light of deliverance you hope for into the darkness and gloom of exile. (17) But if you will not pay attention to this warning, I will weep alone because of your arrogant pride. I will weep bitterly and my eyes will overflow with tears because you, the Lord’s flock, will be carried into exile.” The Lord told me, “Tell the king and the queen mother, ‘Surrender your thrones, for your glorious crowns will be removed from your heads. The gates of the towns in southern Judah will be shut tight. No one will be able to go in or out of them.

All Judah will be carried off into exile. They will be completely carried off into exile.’”

      (20) Then I said, “Look up, Jerusalem, and see the enemy that is coming from the north. Where now is the flock of people that were entrusted to your care? Where now are the ‘sheep’ that you take such pride in? What will you say when the Lord appoints as rulers over you those allies that you, yourself, had actually prepared as such? Then anguish and agony will grip you like that of a woman giving birth to a baby. You will probably ask yourself, ‘Why have these things happened to me? Why have I been treated like a disgraced adulteress whose skirt has been torn off and her limbs exposed?’ It is because you have sinned so much.

     (23) But there is little hope for you ever doing good, you who are so accustomed to doing evil. Can an Ethiopian change the color of his skin? Can a leopard remove its spots? (24) “The Lord says, ‘That is why I will scatter your people like chaff that is blown away by a desert wind. This is your fate, the destiny to which I have appointed you, because you have forgotten Me and have trusted in false gods. (26) So I will pull your skirt up over your face and expose you to shame like a disgraced adulteress!

     (27) People of Jerusalem, I have seen your adulterous worship, your shameless prostitution to, and your lustful pursuit of, other gods. I have seen your disgusting acts of worship on the hills throughout the countryside. You are doomed to destruction!

How long will you continue to be unclean?’”

When Jeremiah wrote this chapter, ten tribes had already been removed. The Israelites turning to other gods was spiritual adultery and God’s punishment paralleled the law regarding an adulterous wife. We followers of Jesus are heart broken over our nations’ condoning abominable to God practices.

Ephesians, complementary text and commentary, chapter 5

Saturday, July 29th, 2017

7/29/17, God’s 5th month, Av 5, 5777, and day the Sabbath until sunset. To 5,100 in resident churches and individuals God is making temples of His Holy Spirit.

All worldly religions, denominationalisms and nations have went the way of Baal “the old gentile Balaam worship” looking to the zodiac, figurine idols, statutes, the obelisk on worship places and the Asherah pole. (Asherah was a leading deity of the Canaanite pantheon, wife/sister of El and goddess of fertility. Commonly worshiped at shrines in or near groves of evergreen trees or, failing that, at places marked by wooden poles. Israelites were instructed to burn or cut these down (See Deut 12:3; 16:21; Judges 6:25, 28, 30; 2 Kgs 18:4) Look around and take note, “worldly religions take part in all or some of these abominable to God practices.”

(Eph 4:17-19; “This I say therefore and testify in the Lord, that you “Christians” henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, Having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.”)

Worldly religions give themselves over to the get way, “inherited from Adam and inspired by the devil.” Always living in the vanity of their minds. Doing what seemed right to their fleshly nature. God made a new beginning with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob “Israel.” God made Israelites His people, making them the greatest nation on earth until they rebelled and yielded to what seemed right to their fleshly nature. (“Proverbs 16:25; There is a way that seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”)

Thus God darkened their understanding, giving them over to a gentile mentality. Allowing blindness to people’s inner being because they desired disobedience. NOW through the gift of believing IN Jesus, Paul is teaching the Ephesians and all followers of Jesus to overcome to the end.

(Eph 4:20-24; “But you have not so learned Christ; If so be that you have heard Him, and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: That you put off concerning the former conduct, the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; (23) And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that you put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.”)

Spiritually led followers of Jesus strive to renew the mind, be righteous and holy because He is both. When we believe IN Jesus, we are taught truth by revelation and are gifted with the desire that our practice please Him. Desire to turn from the get way, knowing that Satan is the author of it; all deceit and lustful living practices.

(Eph 4:25-32; “Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbor: for we “Christians” are members one of another. Be you angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil. Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needs. (29) Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby you are sealed unto the day of redemption. (31) Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be you kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake has forgiven you.”)

This is elementary teaching to the mature Christian; “it would have been to believing Abraham.” The Holy Spirit leads us to be angry at sin, recognize Satan’s pulls on our fleshly nature and even more so on unbelievers. Followers of Jesus must work at overcoming the get way, practice self control and overcome the pulls of the flesh. Paul’s letter to the Ephesians teaches us how to love God and fellow believers. We know Paul is writing to Christians because in verse 30 it’s written, “grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby you are sealed unto the day of redemption.”

When we read through this section of scripture thoughtfully, surely we each can find words of correction for ourselves. This practical letter to the Ephesians should be studied by all who profess to be followers of Jesus.

(Eph 5:1-5; “Be you therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us, and has given Himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling Savor. But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becoming Saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. (5) For this you know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.”)

Christians should think of themselves as literal children of God the Father and a slave servant with God the Son. When the Israelites, to whom God made Himself known, promised to obey, “it was a marriage covenant to the Lord God.” (They promising to be His people and He promising to be their God.) When they turned away, God referred to them as adulterers, “prostituting themselves.”

In this New Covenant age, God calls, reveals Himself to individuals and the repentant believing IN person become family, “put in His church which is the bride of Christ.” When God calls, gifts understanding, repentance and His spirit; “it’s a fathering - begotten by or born again to be at one with parent God the Father.” Through Jesus God the Father ordained the gifting of His spirit, the believing IN process; “making Believers spiritual children of our spiritual Father; inheriting the Kingdom with Abraham under Christ.

REMEMBER Jesus’ words? “Many will come saying I am the Christ and deceive many!”

(Eph 5:6-10; “Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things comes the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be NOT you therefore partakers with them. For you were sometimes darkness, but now are you light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth; Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.”)

Unbelievers seem to enjoy debating these verses, some saying; “everyone sins and therefore everyone is disobedient.” Jesus and each apostle’s principle teaching on this subject is, “don’t practice living disobediently.” True, even the holiest have a self serving thought come to the mind from time to time. That isn’t sin in God‘s view, “until yielded to and practiced!” (When led by God’s spirit in us, “we are led to repent when we slip” therefore God does not consider us sinners.”)

Jesus’ good news are as parables to those who aren’t called in this age.

Jesus told His parables to the populations at large, “so they would ponder but not understand their full meaning.” When ask why parables, Jesus quoted Isaiah saying; ““Although they see they do not see, and although they hear they do not hear nor do they understand.” And concerning them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled that says: ‘You will listen carefully yet will never understand, you will look closely yet will never comprehend. For the heart of this people has become dull; they are hard of hearing,

and they have shut their eyes, so that they would not see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.” Matt 13:13-15)

Privately with His apostles, Jesus was more to the point. (Matt 19:27-30; “Then Peter said to Jesus, “Look, we “apostles” have left everything to follow You! What then will there be for us?” Jesus said to them, “I tell you the truth: In the age when all things are renewed, when the Son of Man sits on His glorious throne, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And whoever has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for My sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life. (30) But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”) Verse 30 is in parable form and Jesus’ apostles didn’t understand until later when Jesus opened their minds.

At Matthew 20:1-16, Jesus gives His parable about the workers in the vineyard hired at various hours in the day and at the end of the work day, the last received the same pay as the first. Again Jesus concluded saying, “So the last will be first, and the first last.”

We now understand that many called in these last days who overcome to the end, will be first. Last days being, “since Jesus’ ascension.”

To Believe IN God as He manifest Himself to be in the holy scriptures is to know and totally trust in His Way. (People desiring to be religious for popularly and goodness sake, “those in whom Jesus isn’t revealed to” yield to their fleshly imaginations, attempting to rationally make God fit their fleshly intellect: “their idea of what God should be like.” These to whom Jesus isn’t revealed to, trust their fleshly intellect rather than God’s original printed word for revealed knowledge. Jesus’ Apostle John introduces Him as He revealed Himself to His apostles.

(1 John 3:3-8; “And every man that has this hope in him purifies himself, even as HE is pure. Whosoever commits sin transgresses also the LAW: for SIN IS the transgression of the law. And you know that He was manifested “made known” to take away our sins; and in Him is no sin. Whosoever abides in Him sins NOT: whosoever sins has not SEEN “understood” Him, neither known Him. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that does righteousness is righteous, even as Jesus is righteous. (8) He that commits sin is of the devil; for the devil sins from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, “revealed - made known” that He might destroy the works of the devil.”)

Who sins has not seen Him, neither know Him? Meaning: Once God the Father and God the Son’s love is revealed, our outlook regarding lawlessness to His Way is miraculously changed: we know our old self serving nature was evil in His View. Then we understand, “the many religions are yielded to man made doctrines.” Obeying the spiritual intent of His commandments becomes a primary concern, “including the fourth.” (Study 1 John.)

(Eph 5:11-16; “Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the Light: for whatsoever does make manifest “make known” is light. Wherefore He said, Awake you that sleep, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light. See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, (16) Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”)

Followers of Jesus aren’t comfortable among the worldly religious nor the politically correct, because their life practices are from darkness. Jesus is the Light of the world, He reproves. His revealing spirit makes light known! His Light gives people the desire to redeem the time. How do we go about redeeming the time? Remember who the holy scriptures teach the god of this age? Times people traditionally set aside, have no substance pertaining to or foreshadowing of God’s Way. Religions designed by people to fit their fleshly intellect leads to a second death if not turned from. Revelations 21;8)

Ephesians, complementary text and commentary, chapter 4

Friday, July 28th, 2017

7/28/17, God’s 5th month, Av 4, 5777, and day 6 until sunset. To 5,089 in resident churches and individuals God is making temples of His Holy Spirit.

Jesus’ teaching through Paul as revealed in chapters two and three was revealed to Daniel, long before to Jesus’ apostles. Demonism is spreading like wild fire across the world and particularly in countries professing to be Christian.

(Dan 12:8-10; “And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things? And He said, Go your way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.”)

The wicked are those condoning the spread of fleshly lust, yielding to political correctness and denying our Creator’s authority. Including the so called science wisdom worldly educators spouts; but the wise are those God calls and gives understanding to. The wise in God’s view are Believers IN. Jesus gave this prophecy to Daniel and revealed the same to His apostles. Followers of Jesus understand that spiritual knowledge and the desire to the obedient to God are gifts from God. None of the unbelievers shall understand! To BELIEVERS IN, the apostle Peter writes.

(1 Pet 4:15-19; “But let none of you, ‘followers of Jesus’ suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters. Yet if any person suffer as a Christian, let that one not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf. For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to Him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.”) Our Creator gives understanding through His energizing Holy Spirit.

Paul and Daniel taught this same message.

(Eph 3:5-13; “Now this secret was not disclosed to people in former generations as it has now been revealed to His holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit, namely, that through the gospel the Gentiles are fellow heirs, fellow members of the body, and fellow partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus. (7) I became a servant of this gospel according to the gift of God’s grace that was given to me by the exercise of His power. To me – less than the least of all the Saints – this grace was given, to proclaim to the Gentiles the unfathomable riches of Christ and to enlighten everyone about God’s secret plan – a secret that has been hidden for ages in God who has created all things. The purpose of this enlightenment is that through the church the multifaceted wisdom of God should now be disclosed to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly realms.(11) This was according to the eternal purpose that He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord, in whom we have boldness and confident access to God because of Christ’s faithfulness. For this reason I ask you not to lose heart because of what I am suffering for you, which is your glory.”)

Back when Adam and Eve were created, His eternal purposes through Jesus was preplanned. When He would reveal His secret plan, regarding all people. He also knew how Satan would influence his subordinates, ‘organized worldly religions’ to infiltrate and insult God; “even to the degree of naming days of the week after pagan gods.” The very pagan entities Jesus and His apostles taught against.

(Eph 3:14-19; “For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by HIS Spirit in the INNER MAN; That Christ may DWELL in your hearts by faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in LOVE, May be able to COMPREHEND with all Saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth and height; And to KNOW the love of Christ, which PASSES knowledge, that you might be FILLED with all the fullness of God. Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, Unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.”) (Matt 22:14; “For many are called, but few are chosen.”)

The mystery? God’s gifted energizing spirit imputed now and Resurrections future!

(1Cor 15:51-58; “Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound and  we shall be changed the dead shall be raised incorruptible. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this MORTAL must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on IMMORTALITY, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your sting? O grave, where is your victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (58) Therefore, my beloved brethren, be you steadfast, un-moveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”)

Jesus’ and His apostles’ teachings are the key to the mystery that’s been hidden throughout the ages. We in God and God in us serving as His temples. Understanding being opened to His called, a people gifted with the desire to be obedient because, “He loved us first.” (See 1John 4:19)

A people gifted to Believe IN Jesus’ deeds: Israelites - non-Israelites sanctified, “set apart” to practice living His Way and for His purpose.

Heavenly Father: give us Your gift of love, that we may love Your Way and abhor the fleshly, selfish way. Open many minds to see the folly of going the way that seems right. We pray in Jesus’ holy name. Amen.

What is your life practicing primary vocation? How is that vocation used? Are your talents used to get or give? To serve or take? We each inherited and are motivated to practice the way of get, for self and those we consider ours, until God calls, changes our outlook, reveals His Way and we turn “repent.” Only then do people come to realize that they and their talents are gifted, “aren’t their own.” Until that is realized leaders can take advantage of the naïve; “use them as merchandise to enrich themselves.” They appeal to and take advantage of the people’s naïve,” inherited get way nature.” This is the way of democracies! People whose natures aren’t supernaturally changed aren’t capable of ruling themselves! Jesus and His apostles messages are to people whose outlooks “minds” are converted to understand that God’s Way is for our good and the way of get serves the devil.

(Eph 4:1-3; “I “Paul” therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, urge you that you walk worthy of the vocation wherewith you are called, with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”)

The Christian’s life practices is their spiritual VOCATION and each Christian is CALLED TO that vocation mimicking Jesus. Jesus as He manifested Himself to be in the holy scriptures is a keeper of the unity of God’s spirit.

(Eph 4:4-6; “There is one body, and one spirit, even as you “Christians” are CALLED in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all, and in you all.”)

Paul is writing to people gifted with God’s energizing spirit. It is about being “AT ONE-with our Creator.” The parallels are: “as is “God the Father and God the Son” as is “Jesus and His church” is as “a husband and wife relationship should be.”

(Eph 4:7-16; “But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the GIFT of Christ. Wherefore He said, When He ascended up on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. (Now that He ascended, what is it but that He also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that He might fill all things.) (11) And He gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the SAINTS, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ: (14) That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; (15) But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into Him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplies, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, making increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.”)

Unbelievers, denominationalist, professing Christians and the world at large CANNOT comprehend verses seven through sixteen because they are spiritual for spiritual people. All except the called are blinded. Review Ephesians 2:11-13.

How were we brought near? By being gifted to understand Jesus’ deeds and know that He is Lord. “Jesus’ apostle Peter also shared the condition of people prior to their being called and experiencing a nature change.”

(1 Peter 4:1-6; “So, since Christ suffered in the flesh, you also arm yourselves with the same attitude, because the one who has suffered in the flesh has finished with sin, in that he spends the rest of his time on earth concerned about the will of God and not human desires. For the time that has passed was sufficient for you to do what the non-Christians desire. You lived then in debauchery, evil desires, drunkenness, carousing, drinking bouts, and wanton idolatries. So they, “non-Christians” are astonished when you do not rush with them into the same flood of wickedness, and they vilify you. They will face a reckoning before Jesus Christ who stands ready to judge the living and the dead. Now it was for this very purpose that the gospel was preached to those who are now dead, so that though they were judged in the flesh by human standards they may live spiritually by God’s standards.”)

The world and it’s religions are divided, confused and at war to gain advantage. Believers IN - Christians, “are one spirit, one in mind and serving one Lord as He manifest Himself to be.” The giver of gifts, “talents” the one through whom edifies His body the church.”

Ephesians, complementary text and commentary, chapter 3

Thursday, July 27th, 2017

7/27/17, God’s 5th month, Av 3, 5777, and day 5 until sunset. To 5,075 in resident churches and individuals God is making temples of His Holy Spirit.

We are called to be ambassadors, witnesses; as such to teach the competent to teach and encourage others. (2 Tim 2:1-2; “So you, my child, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And entrust what you heard me say in the presence of many others as witnesses to faithful people who will be competent to teach others as well.”)

When new in the faith, I tended to send studies to people I thought would appreciate learning that which had been revealed to me; “only to discover, I was offensive for the most part.” I learned, “people locked in denominationalism couldn’t comprehend my good intentions.” It took a while to digest Jesus’ teaching through Peter.

1Pet 3:15-17; “But set Christ apart as Lord in your hearts and always be ready to give an answer to anyone who asks about the hope you possess. Yet do it with courtesy and respect, keeping a good conscience, so that those who slander your good conduct in Christ may be put to shame when they accuse you. For it is better to suffer for doing good, if God wills it, than for doing evil.”) It may sound boastful to some, but we Believers IN need to consider ourselves dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Romans 6:11) We cannot make unbelievers understand that they are slaves to what they are obedient to. Rom 6:16) All the while we must test ourselves, being sure we are in the faith. 2Cor 13”5.) An exam? Brotherly love and evidence that our teacher is God. 1Thess 4:9.) Exam two? Work at shedding evil inherited urges and be holy because God is holy. 1Peter 1:14.)

How are we made at one with God? Made to be Believers IN.

(Eph 2:10-13; “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God has before ordained that we should walk in them. Wherefore remember, that you being in time past gentiles in the flesh, who are CALLED Un-circumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; That at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: (13) But now in Christ Jesus you who sometimes were far off are made near by the blood of Christ.”)

LET’S understand; our promises were first to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, whose name God changed to Israel. As God set Israel past, apart; “He now chooses, calls and sets Believers IN apart.” Israel past was a “set apart nation” “spiritual Israelites present are holy people, a royal priesthood.” Jesus teaches it through Peter.

(1Peter 2;6-10; “For it says in scripture, “Look, I lay in Zion a stone, a chosen and priceless Cornerstone, and whoever believes IN Him will never be put to shame.” So you who believe see His value, but for those who do not believe, the stone that the builders rejected has become the Cornerstone, ( 8) and a Stumbling-stone and a Rock to trip over. They stumble because they disobey the word, as they were destined to do. (9) But you ‘Believers IN’ are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people of His own, so that you may proclaim the virtues of the One who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. (10) You once were not a people, but now you are God’s people. You were shown no mercy, but now you have received mercy.)

As with other people groups in Moses, Samuel and David’s day: “God shows mercy to unbelievers by giving them rain and the like blessing as to Believers” but they aren’t blessed and shown the mercy of gifted spiritual understanding.” They don’t have the benefit of being “spiritual Israelites” a people God fights for.

When Jesus delivered Israel from Egypt, it was a spiritual parallel to His calling and delivering His chosen followers from this sinful world in this new covenant age. When Israel was delivered a large group of Egyptians followed, being led to recognize Israel’s God. Even before Israel’s bondage to the Egyptians, Abraham and God’s chosen descendents were called to separate from the world at large. God’s chosen have always been a set aside, “sanctified” people, from the world. (In the world but not of the world. See John 15:19; Jesus said, (“If you belonged to the world, the world would love you as its own. However, because you do not belong to the world, but I chose you out of the world, for this reason the world hates you.”) Thus, when Israel past was delivered from sinful Egypt, God gave them rules of conduct for their good, separating them from non-Israelite cultures who honored imaginary gods.

(For their good! “Jesus gave Israel His commands and oracles” that when practiced honored Him, as Creator God.”) These things Jesus instituted prior to His coming in the flesh, looking forward to when God the Father would send Him “Jesus” to called out Spiritual Israelites, ‘a sanctified - set apart from the world church.’ God’s New Covenant is with a called out spiritual Israel “His church” and a parallel with Israelites past. (Particularly, if a new reader, study John 1:1-5, Colossians 1:15-20 and Hebrews 1:)

(Eph 2:14-17; “For JESUS is our peace, who has made “Israelites and non-Israelitesboth one, and has broken down the middle wall of partition between us; Having abolishednullified” in His flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in Himself of “from” two, one new man, “people” so making peace; (16) And that God might reconcile both unto Himself in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were near.”)

Abolished? A proper English term which communicates this is “nullify” since this word carries the denotation of “making something legally null and void.” For this reason, the Net Bible translation retains the term “nullify” it’s the best choice of the available options, despite its problems.)

Israelites were God’s covenant people by promises to Abraham and gifted with commandments for their good. Others strayed further from God’s way practicing things that honor imaginary gods. (the likes of Diana, Baal and Zeus) Today all Believers IN, “followers of Jesus” are made ONE in Jesus Christ! Paul explains, commandments contained in ordinances caused enmity “a middle wall of partition” is nullified in Jesus’ flesh. Symbolic of that; “when Jesus died the temple curtain separating the holy of holiest was physically split from top to bottom. “Commands in ordinances caused many Israelites to look to them for their saving, thus diverse to the law of FAITH and GRACE.” People gifted with faith in Jesus understand the commandments are summed up in Jesus‘ words: “believe In, Love God and Love neighbor.” Believing IN God is demonstrated by respectfully practicing the first four commandments and loving neighbor is demonstrated by practicing the last six.

(Eph 2:18-22; “For through Jesus we both “Israelites & gentiles” have access by one Spirit unto the Father. Now therefore you “gentiles” are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the Saints, and of the household of God; (20) And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief Cornerstone; In whom all the building fitly framed together grows unto an holy temple in the Lord: (22) In whom you also are built together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.”) God’s habitation? God’s Spirit residing in individuals solves the mystery of His making His followers AT ONE with Himself.) Loving God’s laws are imputed to our minds through His energizing spirit; thus, Christians’ desire is to, “love what He loves and hate what He hates.”

(Eph 3:1-7; “For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles, If you have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: How that by revelation JESUS made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote before in few words; Whereby, when you read, you may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)

(5-7; Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now REVEALED unto His holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; That the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, and of the same body, and partakers of god’s promise in Christ by the gospel: Whereof I was made a minister, according to the GIFT of the GRACE of God given unto me by the effectual working of His power.”)

Paul did not choose Jesus, PAUL WAS MADE an apostle by the grace of God, to non-Israelites and Israelites. Paul was taught directly by Jesus through gifted revelation! LIKEWISE each called Believer IN is gifted with a yielding, obedient spirit to discern, compare spiritual to spiritual and thereby grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. If honest we agree with Paul, “individually recognizing that our past conduct is the reason we could only be saved by His grace and are the least of all Saints.”

(Eph 3:8-13; “Unto me, “Paul” who am less than the least of all Saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the un-searchable riches of Christ; And to

make “help” all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world has been HID in God, who created all things BY Jesus Christ: To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, (11) According to the ETERNAL PURPOSE which He purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of Him. (13) Wherefore I desire that you faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory.”)

Paul did not mean, “he personally make ALL MEN SEE what is the fellowship of this mystery.” Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Moses may not have known this mystery of God. (Calling a people through Jesus’ faith imputed to the mind, making people love and desire to be AT ONE with Himself.)

Individually, called out Saints of God need to seek and wait on revelations as we study, prove all things and grow in the grace and knowledge of God. Followers of Jesus need to go out from this demonic world and separate themselves from worldly religions. (Knowing that in God’s timing, “we will one day know even as we are known.”

(1 Corinthians 13:8-13; “Love never ends. But if there are prophecies, they will be set aside; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be set aside. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part, but when what is perfect comes, the partial will be set aside. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. But when I became an adult, I set aside childish ways. For now we see in a mirror indirectly, but then we will see face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully, just as I have been fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.”)

Remember God enlightens whom He chooses and darkens the understanding of many until His set time.

Ephesians, chapter 2

Tuesday, July 25th, 2017

7/25/17, God’s 5th month, Av 1, 5777, and day 3 until sunset. To 5,052 in resident churches and individuals God is making temples of His Holy Spirit.

We now make a wide detour from Paul’s letter to the Ephesians to support his teaching with other scripture. In a beginning after the flood, God began making choices among people. Noah’s son Shem was the first God favored over his two brothers. (See Genesis 9:24-28.) The principle of God’s choosing who He would work through to accomplish His purpose is history. From Shem’s descendents came Abraham and God’s promises to and through Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. God changed Jacob’s name to “Israel” serving His purpose of adding to His family. Israel is the foundation from which followers of Jesus find themselves serving. God spoke with Abraham regarding his heirs.

(Genesis 17:19-20; God said, “No, ‘Abraham’ Sarah your wife is going to bear you a son and you will name him Isaac. I will confirm My covenant with him as a perpetual, (forever: lasting for all time: lasting indefinitely: occurring repeatedly.) covenant for his descendants after him. As for Ishmael, I have heard you. I will indeed bless him, make him fruitful, and give him a multitude of descendants”) God further said; “But I will establish My covenant with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear to you at this set time next year.” Verse 21:)

As Creator, God has the prerogative to bless whom He will and covenant with whom He chooses! All who don’t believe this aren’t believers IN!

(“Do not be upset about the boy ‘Ishmael’ or your slave wife. Do all that Sarah is telling you because through Isaac your descendants will be counted. But I will also make the son of the slave wife into a great nation, for he is your descendant too.” Gen 21:12-13) Isaac’s marrying Rebekah was also preplanned.

Isaac and Rebekah’s twin boys were Esau and Jacob. God chose and covenanted with Jacob; changing his name to Israel and preplanned that he father twelve sons. (See Gen 25:24 and forward.) The twelve gates of New Jerusalem are named for the twelve tribes of Israel. (See Revelations 21:12-21.) Few professing Christians understand the connection between the twelve tribes of Israel and the twelve apostles of the Lamb, ‘Jesus.’

Israel’s history was and is preplanned. Spiritual Israel “Jesus’ Church” history was and is also preplanned. Moses, Joshua, Caleb, the good and bad kings before Samuel, plus King David’s physical and spiritual kingdom was and is preplanned. (See Isaiah 14:24 and 46:8-13

Followers of Jesus must understand the meaning of the word, “Israel.” the word “Israel” means, “God fights.” (We need to know that today’s spiritual Israelites are followers of Jesus and that He, the Son of God, “Jesus” was the Lord that communed with Moses; giving Israelites laws and oracles for their good. Followers of Jesus must know the spiritual parallels between God’s dealing with Israel past and Christians present. Hopefully we all understand that God gives revelations to whom He chooses. Our study in the previous chapter demonstrates that, “God chooses, fights for, calls and delivers those He makes spiritual Israelites.” Each follower of Jesus is preplanned from the foundation of the world and given like requirement as were Israel past.
( Deuteronomy 10:12-21; “Now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you except to revere Him, to obey all His commandments, to love Him, to serve Him with all your mind and being, and to keep the Lord’s commandments and statutes that I am giving you today for your own good? The heavens – indeed the highest heavens – belong to the Lord your God, as does the earth and everything in it. (15) However, only to your ancestors did He show His loving favor, and He chose you, their descendants, from all peoples – as is apparent today. Therefore, cleanse your heart and stop being so stubborn! For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, mighty and awesome God who is unbiased and takes no bribe, who justly treats the orphan and widow, and who loves resident foreigners, giving them food and clothing. So you must love the resident foreigner because you were foreigners in the land of Egypt. Revere the Lord your God, serve Him, be loyal to Him and take oaths only in His name. He is the one you should praise; He is your God, the one who has done these great and awesome things for you that you have seen.”)

The only true God is the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Israelites past an future; “not necessarily the God of the nation Israel present - Judaism.” Jesus was the Lord God of Moses, the Deliverer and is our Savior, the One and same Lord that led Israel from Egypt. The same Creator Lord God also became a fleshly person to redeem and die for the sins of the world. For the most part denominationalist don’t know the God of Israel past nor the God of spiritual Israel present, “Jesus’ Church - Christians.”

Remember, Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. (Study Hebrews 1:) Remember too; the one giving genuine desire and effort to be at one with Him, is God. (See Philippians 2:13)

(Jesus said to His chosen; “I no longer call you slaves, because the slave does not understand what his master is doing. But I have called you friends, because I have revealed to you everything I heard from My Father. You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that remains, so that whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. This I command you – to love one another.” John 15:15-17) This same Jesus also inspired Isaiah’s words.

Isaiah 66:1-5; This is what the Lord says: “The heavens are My throne and the earth is My footstool. Where then is the house you will build for Me? Where is the place where I will rest? My hand made them; that is how they came to be,” says the Lord. I show special favor to the humble and contrite, who respect what I have to say.”

(2-4; “The one who slaughters a bull also strikes down a man; the one who sacrifices a lamb also breaks a dog’s neck; the one who presents an offering includes pig’s blood with it; the one who offers incense also praises an idol. They have decided to behave this way; they enjoy these disgusting practices. So I will choose severe punishment for them; I will bring on them what they dread, because I called, and no one responded, I spoke and they did not listen. They did evil before Me; they chose to do what displeases Me.”

Verse 5: “Hear the word of the Lord, you who respect what He has to say! Your countrymen, who hate you and exclude you, supposedly for the sake of My name, say, “May the Lord be glorified, then we will witness your joy.” But they will be put to shame.”)

Those NOT chosen and gifted with an obedient desire nature in this age, go about doing what seems right to their fleshly inherited from Adam nature. Many like minded choose a religion of comfort, usually one yielding to political correctness, “social club.” Remember a first and second resurrection is prophesied.

Paul’s teaching us and followers of Jesus at Ephesus about callings and being saved by grace, naturally goes beyond this world’s unbelieving people’s understanding. So, let’s consider his letter to the Romans also. Writing to non-Israelites “gentiles in the flesh” “Roman citizens” he explained that God’s chosen Israelites are, “the olive tree” “beloved for the Father’s sake” and gentiles “contrary to their nature” are grafted in.

(Rom 11:24-29; “For if you, ‘gentiles’ were cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and were grafted contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree? For I would not, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this MYSTERY, lest you should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fullness of the gentiles be come in. (26) And so ALL Israel “those God fights for” shall be saved: as it is written, “There shall come out of Zion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob “Israel.” For this is My covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.” (28) As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the Election, they are beloved for the fathers’ sakes. (29) For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.”)

God’s CALLING and gifts to HIS Elect is according to HIS purpose. We need to remember God’s promises to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and the prophetic words He gave through Moses. .

(Rom 11:2-6; “God has not cast away His people which He foreknew. Know you not what the scripture said of Elias? how he makes intercession to God against Israel, saying, “Lord, they have killed your prophets, and dug down your altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life.” (4) But what says the answer of God unto him? (“I have reserved to Myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.”) (5) Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace. (6) And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.”)

God does the choosing and tells His chosen how they should respond. (By grace we are saved, through FAITH, it is the gift of God.) God gives understanding and He blinds; according to His master plan.

(Rom 11:7-8; “What then? Israel has not obtained that which he seeks for; but the ELECTION has obtained it, and the rest were BLINDED. (According as it is written, God has given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear; unto this day.”)

All nations, denominationalist, Israelites and gentiles are blinded to His spiritual truth until God’s chooses to open their understanding!

God is LOVE and His mercy is beyond our understanding. He has purposely made His Way a mystery to the world at large. Blindness in this age will ultimately be a blessing for many. God’s master plan includes a physical resurrection and unbelievers will die a second death. That second resurrection is likened to Lazarus’ whom Jesus resurrected after he had been dead four days.

Jesus reveals a second death to John four time in His revelations to him. See Rev 2:11, Rev 20:6, Rev 20:14 and (Rev 21:8; “But the fearful, unbelieving, the abominable, murderers, whoremongers, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”)

WHY a mystery to the world? IN large part, it’s because the world can not get past Satan’s first lie. Satan’s first lie is in large part the cause of world wide spread unbelief. Every major religious belief system accepts some form of his lie, “surely you won’t die, for God knows when you eat, “disobey” you will be like deities, knowing right and wrong.” (my words: see Genesis 3:. Paul’s letter to Timothy explains Jesus’ revelations of what it is like in this age.

(2 Timothy 4:1-8; “I solemnly charge you “Timothy” before God and Christ Jesus, who is going to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom: Preach the message, be ready whether it is convenient or not, reprove, rebuke, exhort with complete patience and instruction. For there will be a time when people will not tolerate sound teaching. Instead, following their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves, because they have an insatiable curiosity to hear new things. And they will turn away from hearing the truth, but on the other hand they will turn aside to myths. You, however, be self-controlled in all things, endure hardship, do an evangelist’s work, fulfill your ministry. For I am already being poured out as an offering, and the time for me to depart is at hand. I have competed well; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith! Finally the crown of righteousness is reserved for me. The Lord, the righteous Judge, will award it to me in that day – and not to me only, but also to all who have set their affection on Jesus’ appearing.”)

Let’s thank God for His mercy on this unbelieving age. NOW back to Paul’s letter to the Believing Ephesians.
