The Way 2 Eternal Life, revealed to Moses, prophets and apostles, chapter 16

11/2/17, God’s 8th month, Cheshvan 13, 5778 until sunset. To 7,087 in resident churches; individuals God is making temples of His Holy Spirit.

Let’s not allow offensiveness room when acquaintances and family reject Jesus’ way in us. From a fleshy perspective we naturally feel offended but let’s remember “we aren’t greater than our Master.” It isn’t without purpose that Jesus had Mark record His hometown experience.

(Mark 6:1-6; “Now Jesus left that place and came to His hometown, and His disciples followed Him. When the Sabbath came, He began to teach in the synagogue. Many who heard Him were astonished, saying, “Where did He get these ideas? And what is this wisdom that has been given to Him? What are these miracles that are done through His hands? (3) Isn’t this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And aren’t His sisters here with us?” And so they took offense at Him. (4) Then7 Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown, and among his relatives, and in his own house.” He was not able to do a miracle there, except to lay His hands on a few sick people and heal them. And He was amazed because of their unbelief. Then He went around among the villages and taught.”) Allow me to share a personal. I was inspired to write; “Jesus’ Good News” as revealed to Peter and Paul. (Sold in major book outlets.) Who rejects reading it? acquaintances and family.

When Jesus was explaining to Nicodemus the necessity of being born again, John recorded Him saying; “Do not be amazed that I said to you, ‘You must all be born from above.’ The wind blows wherever it will, and you hear the sound it makes, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.“ John 3:7-8) But most people reject the simplicity of how “being born of the spirit” is gifted miraculously.

From Jesus’ Words we should ascertain that being born of God’s spirit, ‘our being fathered by God’ isn’t our call. Individually we only know that we have a miraculously changed outlook. Think of the workings of God’s spirit in relation to the wind and consider Genesis 1:1-3; “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was without shape and empty and darkness was over the surface of the watery deep, but the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the water. God said, “Let there be light. And there was light!”) God’s spirit, “characterized like the wind” was moving over the surface.

It was pre-planned from God’s chosen beginning point, “when and how His spirit would be imputed to a chosen people.” That Pentecost after Jesus’ ascension. Likewise Jesus was in Jerusalem keeping the Feast of Tabernacles, when on the eighth and last day of the feast He shouted out to those present.

(John 7:37-39; “On the last day of the feast, the greatest day, Jesus stood up and shouted out, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me, and let the one who believes in Me drink. Just as the scripture says, ‘From within him will flow rivers of living water.’” (Now Jesus said this about the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were going to receive, for the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.)” Pentecost as do all the annual Sabbaths foreshadows a major part of God’s planning.

(Acts 1:3-5; “To the same apostles also, after His suffering, Jesus presented Himself alive with many convincing proofs. He was seen by them over a forty-day period and spoke about matters concerning the kingdom of God. While Jesus was with them He declared, “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait there for what My Father promised, which you heard about from Me. For John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

When the promised holy spirit came and baptized ‘immersed  His chosen people miraculously on that Pentecost, His spirit miraculously appeared visibly “likened to the wind.”

(Acts 2:1-4; “Now when the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like a violent wind blowing came from heaven and filled the entire house where they were sitting. And tongues spreading out like a fire appeared to them and came to rest on each one of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit, and they began to speak in other languages as the Spirit enabled them.”) It wasn’t something these were seeking nor conjured up “but a promised fulfillment. Jesus had His prophet Joel, prophesy of a greater fulfillment.

Our Creator does miraculous works by His spirit, “through it He gives believing faith. enables, creates, re-creates, opens minds and imputes His nature, “fathers or makes one born from above.”

Jesus’ apostle John and all teachers of truth emphasizes “a believing IN.” Believing IN, is a surrendering to His Way; a yield to His concepts, a turning from what seems right to the fleshly outlook and to His revealed outlook. Such turning is “repentance.” Such turning demonstrates “a believing IN Jesus’ outlook.” Believing IN Jesus, it is to walk in His Light. (LOVE” and “BELIEVE” are two very powerful words, as God uses them in His Word.) (Perhaps the best example is at 1John 5:1; “Everyone who “believes” that Jesus is the Christ has been begotten, (fathered) by God: and everyone who “loves” Him who begat, (fathered) also “loves” Him who has been begotten, (fathered) by Him.”) ALSO Study John 1:12-13 & 1 John 2:22-23. The word “LOVE” as used in the holy scriptures to express relationships has a deeper meaning “beyond natural fleshly understanding.”

In Matt 19:, Jesus is saying to the young rich fellow that he should keep the commandments in order to enter the kingdom of heaven; the young man ask which? and Jesus included, 19:19; “honor your father and mother, and love your neighbor as yourself.”) JESUS is quoting from Lev 19:18. “You must not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the children of your people, but you must love your neighbor as yourself.”

Christians are spirit led to discern “Godly love” in the scriptural context. Believing we must love God and His children, as we love ourselves. Believers IN - Christians, are spirit led to be AT ONE with God the Father, God the Son and fellow Believing IN - Christians.

(1 John 5:13; “I have written these things to you who believe IN the name of the Son of God so that you may KNOW that you have eternal life.”)

Speaking for himself and his fellow apostles, Paul writes: (2Cor 13:5-8; “Put yourselves to the test to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize regarding yourselves that Jesus Christ is in you – unless, indeed you fail the test! And I hope that you will realize that we ‘apostles’ have not failed the test! Now we pray to God that you may not do anything wrong, not so that we may appear to have passed the test, but so that you may do what is right even if we may appear to have failed the test. For we cannot do anything against the truth, but only for the sake of the truth.”)

(1 John 5:14-19; “And this is the confidence that we have before Him: that whenever we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in regard to whatever we ask, then we know that we have the requests that we have asked from Him. (16) If anyone sees his fellow Christian committing a sin not resulting in death, he should ask and God will grant life to the person who commits a sin not resulting in death. There is a sin resulting in death. I do not say that he should ask about that. (17) All unrighteousness is sin, but there is sin not resulting in death.(18) We know that everyone fathered by God does not ‘practice’ sin, but God protects the one He has fathered, and the evil one cannot touch him. (19) We know that we are from God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.”)

God is allowing, “the whole world to be in the power of the evil one” until Jesus’ return. He commands Christians to overcome the flesh and Satan’s temptations to the end. It’s for our ultimate good.

(Remember Romans 5:3; “Not only this, but we also rejoice in sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance, character, and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.)

(1 John 5:20-21; “And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us INSIGHT to know Him who is true, and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This One Jesusis the true God and eternal life. (21) Little children, guard yourselves from idols.”)  Idol worship can be most any thing that takes away from our being God centered. Certainly an idol is much more than a statute set up to gaze at, or a figurine that one might look to. Many unbelievers make heroes of and idolize other people. Make mental heroes and idolize religious leaders, make them as gods. An idol is anything idolized.

(Our Creator declares that He is a Jealous God. “You shall have no other gods before Me. You shall not make for yourself a carved image or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above or that is on the earth beneath or that is in the water below. You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I, the Lord, your God, am a jealous God, responding to the transgression of fathers by dealing with children to the third and fourth generations of those who reject Me, and showing covenant faithfulness to a thousand generations of those who love Me and keep My commandments.” Exodus 20:4-6)

Descendents of Abraham are promised blessings by God’s grace; “because of His promises to Abraham!” All Believers IN-Christians are heirs with Abraham. (Again review Galatians 3:29)

The Net Bible translators explain and we teach. (“The “thousands” or “thousandth generation” are those who love Yahweh and keep His commands. These are descendants from the righteous and even associates with them, who benefit from the mercy that God extends to His people.

(Exodus 19:5-6; “And now, if you will diligently listen to Me and keep My covenant, then you will be My special possession out of all the nations, for all the earth is mine and you will be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words that you will speak to the Israelites.”)

This passage teaches that God’s mercy transcends His wrath; in His providence the beneficial consequences of a life of goodness extend indefinitely further than the retribution that is the penalty for persisting in sin. To say that God’s loyal love extends to thousands of generations or the thousandth generation is parallel to saying that it endures forever.”) (Ps. 118). (See also Exodus 34:7; Deut 5:10; 7:9; Ps 18:51; Jer 32:18.)

Jesus died for the sins of the whole world.! His plan is much more loving, and beyond what most people can imagine. We will study how and that God isn’t finished with His physical nation “Israel” next chapter.
