John The Apostle; chapter 31

To: 11,510 Persons being made temples of His spirit: Churches of God.

6/19/18, God’s 4th month, Tammuz 6, 5778 until sunset.

Jesus and each apostle emphatically taught “obeying and keeping God’s commandments in a “respectful belief IN - love of Him mindset” is eternal life.” (Matt 19:17; Jesus said to him, “Why do you ask Me about what is good? There is only one who is good. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.”) (Luke 10:25-28; “Now an expert in religious law stood up to test Jesus, saying, “Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” He said to him, “What is written in the law? How do you understand it?” The expert answered, Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and love your neighbor as yourself.” Jesus said to him, “You have answered correctly; do this, and you will live.”) Love is key; “all our doing must be from a love of God foundation because doing to earn salvation is works.”

(John 13:1-5; “Just before the Passover Feast, Jesus knew that His time had come to depart from this world to the Father. Having loved His own who were in the world, He now loved them to the very end.(2) The evening meal was in progress, and the devil had already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, “Simon’s son” that he should betray Jesus. Because Jesus knew that the Father had handed all things over to Him, and that He had come from God and was going back to God, He got up from the meal, removed His outer clothes, took a towel and tied it around Himself. He poured water into the washbasin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to dry them with the towel He had wrapped around Himself.”)

Jesus knows His own, we cannot deceive Him. He inspires the thinking of His own, leads them to His potter’s wheel, trains and shapes, so we may be at one with Him.

(John 13:6-8; “Then Jesus came to Simon Peter. Peter said to him, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet?” Jesus replied, “You do not understand what I am doing now, but you will understand after these things.” (8) Peter said to him, “You will never wash my feet!” Jesus replied, “If I do not wash you, you have no share with Me.”) We must rely on Jesus!

If Jesus doesn’t clean us to His Way, we have no share with Him. Washing feet is symbolic of being all clean, symbolic of humility and worshiping truthfully. Jesus is the Potter we are the clay. Jesus knew Peter, He knew Judas and He knows You and I. Jesus demonstrated His own humility, while teaching, “we must be spiritually washed and clothed in Him.” Jesus’ response to Peter, “If I do not wash you, you have no share with Me.” (God the Father calls, gives us to Jesus for perfecting.)

John 13:9-10) Peter then said to Jesus, “Lord, wash not only my feet, but also my hands and my head!” Jesus replied, “The one who has bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean. And you disciples are clean, but not every one of you.”)

If Jesus doesn’t wash us? If we aren’t called, cleansed, clothed and immersed in Jesus, we have no share in His kingdom. (God fathers!) Peter desired total cleansing, but at this point in his life, he was fleshly minded. (Peter believed THAT, Jesus was the Son of God, but he still lacked the spiritual gift of believing IN Jesus.) Until Jesus breathed on and gifted His apostles with understanding they were still in the flesh. Many more were gifted with the holy spirit’s revelations on Pentecost, but Jesus’ apostles’ were made Believer IN before. That gifted spiritual outlook made them, “at one with Jesus.”

May we each be mindful of our life practices. Either we’re practicing lawlessness or practicing Jesus’ righteousness. Worldly religions are hostile to belief IN; “whether, Atheism, Agnosticism, Christianity: “disobedience is the practice of lawlessness.” God’s Way is; “practicing Jesus’ righteousness.” Pray this difference is revealed to our minds through His spirit.

Until God the Father calls and reveals Jesus, “we’re hostile to truth.” Until spiritually put on God’s spiritual potter’s wheel we‘re hostile. When we’re called to follow Jesus, our desire is to overcome to the end. Realizing spiritual overcoming can’t be done by works; not in and of ourselves, but with total reliance on Jesus. Spiritual creation begins at the time of our conversion. WE need a, “surrendering to God spirit” the realization that God knows His own. That our Creator is all knowing.

God knows all who aren’t being called in this age also. The holy scriptures teach, “even unbeliever’s deeds are being recorded for future judgment.” NO unbeliever will be in the first and spiritual resurrection, but will be resurrected, “each in their own order.” (study 1 Corinthians 15:) In the millennia, deeds will be remembered, many will believe IN, be led to repent for having practiced lawlessness and desire Jesus’ righteousness. (see Romans 2:6-13)

Jesus is the Alpha and Omega and the Way. He inspired His apostle Paul to explain.

(1Corinthians 15:20-23; “But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those “Christians” who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, “Adam” the resurrection of the dead also came through a man “Jesus.” For just as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive. But each in his own order: Christ, the firstfruits; then when Christ comes, those who belong to Him.”)

(Acts 2:46-47; After Jesus’ ascension and Pentecost, the recipients of God’s spirit were praising God and having the good will of all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number every day those who were being saved.)

God is the personification of love, He know whom He will reveal Himself to and who has the inclination to betray. Jesus’ apostle Paul shares God’s principle of choosing and taking away sins.

(Romans 11:25-27; “For I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers and sisters, so that you may not be conceited: A partial hardening has happened to Israel until the full number of the Gentiles has come in. And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: “The Deliverer will come out of Zion; He will remove ungodliness from Jacob. And this is My covenant with them, when I take away their sins.”) Promises certain!

(John 13:11-15; “For Jesus knew the one who was going to betray Him. For this reason He said, “Not every one of you is clean.” So when Jesus had washed their feet and put His outer clothing back on, He took His place at the table again and said to them, “Do you understand what I have done for you? (13) You call Me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and do so correctly, for that is what I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you too ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example – you should do just as I have done for you.”)

Should we practice this? Absolutely, but only in the act of love; not as a doing of works. We know the arguments, Believers IN are gifted with a spiritual desire to obey. Remember our earlier comments about pretense of worship? Going through motions thinking to appease God, can be Pharisaical in purpose. (Such was Cain’s mistake, thinking to please God with a substitute sacrifice.) Cain’s assumption was an act of disobedience, a self-serving act that led to jealously and murder.) Assumptions among professing Christians is a foundation for disobedience. Such is the reason worldly professing Christians have as much divorce and other moral issues as do the rest of society.

Satan uses people to deceive and accomplish his desires. He causes people to believe lies, palming himself off as an angel of light. Jesus’ apostle Paul was spirit led to prophesy about these end time deception.

(2Thess 2:9-12; “The arrival of the lawless one will be by Satan’s working with all kinds of miracles and signs and false wonders, and with every kind of evil deception directed against those who are perishing, because they found no place in their hearts for the truth so as to be saved. Consequently God sends on them “unbelievers” a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false. And so all of them who have not believed the truth but have delighted in evil will be condemned.”)

This is the reason it’s so important to know Jesus’ message and His characteristics! If we don’t know Jesus’ doctrine we will fall for demonic counterfeits.

(2Thess 2:1-8; “Now regarding the arrival of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to be with Him, we ask you, brothers and sisters, not to be easily shaken from your composure or disturbed by any kind of spirit or message or letter allegedly from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord is already here. Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will NOT arrive until the rebellion comes and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction. He opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, and as a result he takes his seat in God’s temple, displaying himself as God. (5) Surely you recall that I used to tell you these things while I was still with you. And so you know what holds him back, so that he will be revealed in his own time. For the hidden power of lawlessness is already at work. However, the one who holds him back will do so until he is taken out of the way, and then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will destroy by the breath of His mouth and wipe out by the manifestation of His arrival.”)

Believers IN, practicing Jesus’ righteousness, should expect the possibility that, “opinions toward us will be as it was toward Jesus.”

(John 13:16-17; “I tell you the solemn truth, the slave is not greater than his Master, nor is the one who is sent as a messenger greater than the One who sent him. If you understand these things, you will be blessed if you do them.”) To walk in Jesus’ light is to practice His righteousness: opposite of worldly religious righteousness.

(John 13:18-20; “What I am saying does not refer to all of you. I know the ones I have chosen. But this is to fulfill the scripture, ‘The one who eats my bread has turned against me.’ I am telling you this now, before it happens, so that when it happens you may believe that I am He. (20) I tell you the solemn truth, whoever accepts the one I send accepts Me, and whoever accepts Me accepts the One who sent Me.”)

When we don’t know the message, we don’t recognize those He sends. If we know His message; “those teaching His message will be recognized.”

Jesus’ washing His disciples feet, demonstrate the Shepherd’s love for His sheep. Demonstrates; “the Master serves.”

John 13:21-23; When Jesus had said these things, He was greatly distressed in spirit, and testified, “I tell you the solemn truth, one of you will betray Me.” The disciples began to look at one another, worried and perplexed to know which of them He was talking about. One of His disciples, the one Jesus loved, was at the table to the right of Jesus in a place of honor.”)

Jesus died for the sins “lawlessness” of this world’s people. He loves sinners, but His love for John was special. Jesus appointed John to write this gospel account we are studying; plus 1st, 2nd, & 3rd John and His Revelations to John while on the island of Patmos. Jesus foreknew that John would be exiled to the island of Patmos, the things He would revel to him and through him to us individually.
