Paul’s Calling, Teaching and commentary, chapter 4

To: Scattered  “Church of God people” called to be Spiritual Israelites & atOne with Jesus.

3/5/19, God’s 12th month 28th day of Adar 1, 5,779 until sunset.

The Lord God, “Jesus” promised Moses that one like himself, would come and Him we listen to.

(Deut 18:15-19; “The Lord your God will raise up for you ’Israelites’ a prophet like me ‘Moses’ from among you – from your fellow Israelites; you must listen to Him. (16) This accords with what happened at Horeb in the day of the assembly. You asked the Lord your God: “Please do not make us hear the voice of the Lord our God any more or see this great fire any more lest we die.” The Lord then said to me, “What they have said is good. I will raise up a prophet like you for them from among their fellow Israelites. I will put My words in His mouth and He will speak to them whatever I command. (19) I will personally hold responsible anyone who then pays no attention to the words that prophet speaks in My name.”) It was our Lord God ‘Jesus’ who had Moses tell the Israelites: ‘You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt and how I lifted you on eagles’ wings and brought you to Myself. And now, if you will diligently listen to Me and keep My covenant, then you will be My special possession out of all the nations, for all the earth is mine, and you will be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words that you will speak to the Israelites.” Exodus 19:4-6

Israelites answered together, “All that the Lord has commanded we will do!” So Moses brought the words of the people back to the Lord. (9) The Lord said to Moses, “I am going to come to you in a dense cloud, so that the people may hear when I speak with you and so they’ll always believe in you.” And Moses told the words of the people to the Lord. The Lord said to Moses, “Go to the people and sanctify them today and tomorrow, and make them wash their clothes and be ready for the third day, for on the third day the Lord will come down on Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people. (12) You must set boundaries for the people all around, saying, ‘Take heed to yourselves not to go up on the mountain nor touch its edge. Whoever touches the mountain will surely be put to death! No hand will touch him – but he will surely be stoned or shot through, whether a beast or a human being; he must not live.’ When the ram’s horn sounds a long blast they may go up on the mountain.”) (18-19; Now Mount Sinai was completely covered with smoke because the Lord had descended on it in fire, and its smoke went up like the smoke of a great furnace, and the whole mountain shook violently. When the sound of the horn grew louder and louder, Moses was speaking and God was answering him with a voice.”) The covenant of commandments were given. A thousand or so years later the same Lord is proclaimed by John the Baptist and Jesus’ apostles.

Paul teaches Jesus’ coming in the flesh fulfills the prophecy to Moses.

(Acts 13:24-41; “Before Jesus arrived, John had proclaimed a baptism for repentance to all the people of Israel. But while John was completing his mission, he said repeatedly, ‘What do you think I am? I am not He. But look, One is coming after me. I am not worthy to untie the sandals on His feet! (26) Brothers, descendants of Abraham’s family, and those Gentiles among you who fear God, the message of this salvation has been sent to us. (27) For the people who live in Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognize Him, and they fulfilled the sayings of the prophets that are read every Sabbath by condemning Him. Though they found no basis for a death sentence, they asked Pilate to have Him executed. (29) When they had accomplished everything that was written about Him, they took Him down from the cross and placed Him in a tomb. But God raised Him from the dead, and for many days He appeared to those who had accompanied Him from Galilee to Jerusalem. These are now His witnesses to the people. (32) And we proclaim to you the good news about the promise to our ancestors, that this promise God has fulfilled to us, their children, by raising Jesus, as also it is written in the second psalm, ‘You are my Son; today I have fathered you.’ (34) But regarding the fact that He has raised Jesus from the dead, never again to be in a state of decay, God has spoken in this way: ‘I will give you the holy and trustworthy promises made to David.’ “Quote from Isaiah 55:3” (You are my son, ‘today I have fathered you’ is a Quote from Psalms 2:7, A promise of what the ultimate Davidic heir would be. For the English reader, ‘I have fathered’ makes clearer than ‘begetting.’

Therefore He also says in another psalm, ‘You will not permit your Holy One to experience decay.’ “Quote from Psalms 16:10” For David, after he had served God’s purpose in his own generation, died, was buried with his ancestors, and experienced decay, (37) but the One whom God raised up did not experience decay. Therefore let it be known to you, brothers, that through this One forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, and by this One everyone who believes is justified from everything from which the law of Moses could not justify you. Watch out, then, that what is spoken about by the prophets does not happen to you: (41) ‘Look, you scoffers; be amazed and perish! For I am doing a work in your days, a work you would never believe, even if someone tells you.’”) Quote from Habak 1:5-7. Habakkuk defined the Babylon nation and its system that’s now world wide. The system does what seems right to it’s self. (Habakkuk 1:5-7; “Look ’Israel’ at the nations and pay attention! You will be shocked and amazed! For I will do something in your lifetime that you will not believe even though you are forewarned. Look, I am about to empower the Babylonians, that ruthless and greedy nation - people. They sweep across the surface of the earth, seizing dwelling places that do not belong to them. They are frightening and terrifying; they decide for themselves what is right.”

The irony in Paul’s “even if someone tells you” is that he’s now telling us. A warning to unbelievers “face the peril of being scoffers” God is going to judge. A parallel from Habakkuk and Paul is that Spiritual Israelites failed to see how Babylon’s system rising to worldwide power means perilous times and judgment for those sucked in by it. It’s the system you live in today.

The apostle’s letters to Israelites and non-Israelites is Jesus’ good news.

(Acts 13:42-43; “As Paul and Barnabas were going out, the people were urging them to speak about these things on the next Sabbath. When the meeting of the synagogue had broken up, many of the Jews and God-fearing proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who were speaking with them and were persuading them to continue in the grace of God.”) To Believe IN, Paul and Barnabas’s good news, “is gifted by gifted grace.” Reading and saying these words, don’t make one a believer IN the message, discernment is spiritually gifted.

(Acts 13:44-52; “On the next Sabbath almost the whole city assembled together to hear the word of the Lord. But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy, and they began to contradict what Paul was saying by reviling him. (46) Both Paul and Barnabas replied courageously, “It was necessary to speak the word of God to you. “Israelites” first. Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we are turning to the Gentiles. For this is what the Lord has commanded us: ‘I have appointed you to be a light for the Gentiles, to bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’”) Paul is alluding to the servant’s language at Isaiah 42:6 & 49:6. When the Gentiles heard this, they began to rejoice and praise the word of the Lord, and all who had been appointed for eternal life believed.”) Predestined for eternal life. Believers IN have no problem with God’s commandments not His being all knowing, because the love of God is imputed to their minds.

(Acts 13:49-52 “So the word of the Lord was spreading through the entire region. But the Jews incited the God-fearing women of high social standing and the prominent men of the city, stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and threw them out of their region. So after they shook the dust off their feet in protest against them, they went to Iconium. The disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.”) Jealously is a bad thing and prominent ‘educated’ people normally think themselves above God’ s pre-selecting. Not loosing influence is importance and people’s nature hasn’t changed. If God allowed this truth to magnify among the populous, to the degree that they’d leave organized religion, lives would be in danger.

(Acts 14:1-7; “The same thing happened in Iconium when Paul and Barnabas went into the Jewish synagogue and spoke in such a way that a large group of both Jews and Greeks believed. But the Jews who refused to believe stirred up the Gentiles and poisoned their minds against the brothers. So they stayed there for a considerable time, speaking out courageously for the Lord, who testified to the message of His grace, granting miraculous signs and wonders to be performed through their hands. But the population of the city was divided; some sided with the Jews, and some with the apostles. (5) When both the Gentiles and the Jews (together with their rulers) made an attempt to mistreat them and stone them, Paul and Barnabas learned about it and fled to the Lycaonian cities of Lystra and Derbe and the surrounding region. There they continued to proclaim the good news.”)

The good news is: “Jesus ‘the Son of God’ came to reveal God the Father and Himself, demonstrating deeds: power to Re-Create, Create, Heal, Resurrect others, be resurrected, present Himself alive, commission His apostles before ascending to His Father and sending the Spirit of Truth to dwell in Believers; “starting His church.” He had previously prophesied the future through His prophets, fulfilling much that’s written about Him and is going to fulfill it all. After ascending to heaven, Jesus gave revelations to His apostle John and called His apostle Paul.

God the Father and God the Son preplanned His kingdom on earth before creating Adam. Preplanned callings, revealing Himself and saving a people for the purpose of adding to the God family. To make ready and purify a people for service God purposely allows Satan to be the god of this age. Allowing the likes of the demonic Babylonian system of things, entraps the hostiles to Jesus Way. People called to Believe IN and obey Jesus are called to overcoming Satan inspired, deceptions, obstacles and our inherited from Adam sin nature through our Savior Jesus purifies. God the Father calls, gives over to Jesus for training and turning from practices He deems as sin. Our Creator is, “the Alpha and Omega” “the all knowing” very same Jesus that allowed Himself to be the sacrificial Lamb and die for the sins of the world. He made a loving covenant of promise to Abraham that carries forward to each called out Christian. (Study John 1:1-5, Colossians 1:15-20 & Hebrews 1:) These truths are revealed through “the Spirit of Truth” He sent after his going back to the Father to be glorified.

Paul’s Calling, Teaching and Commentary, chapter 4 16,092

To: “Churches of God” Called to be Spiritual Israelites & atOne with Jesus. 3/7/19, God’s 12th month 30th day of Adar 1, 5779 until sunset.

The holy scriptures encourage followers of Jesus to pray, “may Your kingdom soon come.” Should we consider “perhaps some whose names are written in the Lambs book of life aren’t born yet? May we have faith in, “as God has planned, so it will be.” Paul and Barnabas fled persecutions from place to place, but kept to their called mission. Jesus said, to His apostles. (John 14:12-14; “I tell you the solemn truth, the person who believes in Me will perform the miraculous deeds that I am doing and will perform greater deeds than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in My name, ’nature’ so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.”)

Speaking in the name of Jesus, doesn’t merely mean saying His name. It’s “to speak in His nature as a called ambassador.” Have His gifted mind on the requested matter! Jesus gave His apostles knowing faith, “that is, to know His will before asking.” Each apostle’s gifted faith was with advanced revelation of God’s will. Even Jesus prayed in accordance to the will of His Father. Jesus’ apostles, “were gifted with characteristics likened to His.” They were gifted with advanced knowing faith. “Faith in Jesus’ revelations.

Jesus healed through Paul and Barnabas.

Acts 14:8-10; “In Lystra sat a man who could not use his feet, lame from birth, who had never walked. This man was listening to Paul as he was speaking. When Paul stared intently at him and saw he had faith to be healed, he said with a loud voice, “Stand upright on your feet.” And the man leaped up and began walking.”) Jesus revealed the lame man’s faith to Paul. Knew the lame man believed IN what he was hearing. The apostles trusted their gifted revelation, that “Jesus would heal this one through them.”

(Acts 14:11-13; “So when the crowds saw what Paul had done, they shouted in the Lycaonian language, “The gods have come down to us in human form!” They began to call Barnabas Zeus and Paul Hermes, because he was the chief speaker. The priest of the temple of Zeus, located just outside the city, brought bulls and garlands to the city gates; he and the crowds wanted to offer sacrifices to them.”)

Rampant paganism of this sort is still prevalent among people calling them selves Christian. Know any one who looks to the zodiac? Zeus was the chief Greek deity, worshiped throughout the Greco-Roman empire. (Known as Jupiter to the Romans.) Hermes was a Greek god, according to mythology. Hermes was thought to be the messenger of the gods, “god of oratory as Mercury was to the Romans.”

(Acts 14:14-18; But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard about it, they tore their clothes and rushed out into the crowd, shouting, “Men, why are you doing these things?” We too are men, with human natures just like you! We are proclaiming the good news to you, so that you should turn from these worthless things to the living God, who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and everything that is in them. (16) In past generations He allowed all the nations to go their own ways, yet He did not leave Himself without a witness by doing good, by giving you rain from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying you with food and your hearts with joy.” Even by saying these things, they scarcely persuaded the crowds not to offer sacrifice to them.”)

Nations are still being allowed to go their own way “the way seeming right to themselves.” That way leads to eternal death if not turned from! But God has a redemptive plan, “through our believing IN Jesus’ blood sacrifice for eternal life.” We aren’t writing to “a believe that Jesus lived people, but to people gifted to Believe IN Jesus’ shed blood for the remission of sin and eternal life!” Teaching the Jesus “as He’s manifested to be in the holy scriptures.” Through Him is “redemption, faith and eternal life.” Believing IN requires a God gifted desire “for the mind of Jesus regarding all things.”

(Acts 14:19-20; “But Jews came from Antioch and Iconium, and after winning the crowds over, they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, presuming him to be dead. But after the disciples had surrounded him, he got up and went back into the city. On the next day he left with Barnabas for Derbe.”) Judaism’s jealously caused them to justify murder as some today practice. The jealously principle exercised is likened to Cain’s jealously over Abel’ righteousness.

(Acts 14:21-23; “After they had proclaimed the good news in that city and made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, to Iconium, and to Antioch. They strengthened the souls ‘faith’ of the disciples and encouraged them to continue in the faith, saying, “We must enter the kingdom of God through many persecutions.” When they had appointed elders for them in the various churches, with prayer and fasting they entrusted them to the protection of the Lord in whom they had believed.”)

When led to repent for having lived the way that seemed right to our fleshly thinking, “we then need to count the cost of turning from this world’s system of things.” Know that family and communities may ostracize.

(Acts 14:24-28; “Then they passed through Pisidia and came into Pamphylia, and when they had spoken the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia. From there they sailed back to Antioch, where they had been commended to the grace of God for the work they had now completed. When they arrived and gathered the church together, they reported all the things God had done with them, and that He had opened a door of faith for the Gentiles. (28) So they spent considerable time with the disciples.”)

Denominationalism speaks, “a word” seeming right to themselves. Paul and Barnabas spoke, “The Word” as revealed through Jesus’ truth.

(Acts 15:1-5; “Now some men came down from Judea and began to teach the brothers, “Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.” When Paul and Barnabas had a major argument and debate with them, the church appointed Paul and Barnabas and some others from among them to go up to meet with the apostles and elders in Jerusalem about this point of disagreement. (3) So they were sent on their way by the church, and as they passed through both Phoenicia and Samaria, they were relating at length the conversion of the Gentiles and bringing great joy to all the brothers. When they arrived in Jerusalem, they were received by the church and the apostles and the elders, and they reported all the things God had done with them. (5) But some from the religious party of the Pharisees who had believed stood up and said, “It is necessary to circumcise the Gentiles and to order them to observe the law of Moses.”)

Religion looks to evolving customs, what’s politically correct etc. Religion wants conformity to themselves, as did the Pharisees, who didn’t understand the spiritual significance of fleshly circumcision. Jesus gave the spiritual principle through Moses and Jeremiah.

(Jer 4:4; “Just as ritual circumcision cuts away the foreskin as an external symbol of dedicated covenant commitment, you must genuinely dedicate yourselves to the Lord and get rid of everything that hinders a commitment to Me, “people of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem.” If you do not, My anger will blaze up like a flaming fire against you that no one will be able to extinguish. That will happen because of the evil you have done.”)

(Deut 30:4-6; “Even if your exiles are in the most distant land, from there the Lord your God will gather you and bring you back. Then he will bring you to the land your ancestors possessed and you also will possess it; He will do better for you and multiply you more than He did your ancestors. The Lord your God will also cleanse your heart and the hearts of your descendants so that you may love Him with all your mind and being and so that you may live.”)

The apostles recognize spiritual cleansing of the heart. (Acts 15:6-11; “Both the apostles and the elders met together to deliberate about this matter. After there had been much debate, Peter stood up and said to them, “Brothers, you know that some time ago God chose me to preach to the Gentiles so they would hear the message of the gospel and believe. And God, who knows the heart, has testified to them by giving them the Holy Spirit just as He did to us, (9) and He made no distinction between them and us, cleansing their hearts by faith. So now why are you putting God to the test by placing on the neck of the disciples a yoke that neither our ancestors nor we have been able to bear? (11) On the contrary, we believe that we are saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, in the same way as they are.”)

Being gifted to believe IN, cleanses the mind, making Believers IN “atOne with God the Father and God the Son.”

(Acts 15:12-18; “The whole group kept quiet and listened to Barnabas and Paul while they explained all the miraculous signs and wonders God had done among the Gentiles through them. After they stopped speaking, James replied, “Brothers, listen to me. Simeon has explained how God first concerned Himself to select from among the Gentiles a people for His name. (15) The words of the prophets agree with this, as it is written, (16) ‘After this I will return, and I will rebuild the fallen tent of David; I will rebuild its ruins and restore it, so that the rest of humanity may seek the Lord, namely, all the Gentiles I have called to be My own, says the Lord, who makes these things known from long ago.”) FALLEN TENT of David? “more generally, ‘dwelling’ perhaps “royal tent.” The word can mean “tent” or “hut,” or more generally “lodging” or “dwelling.” (A quotation from Amos 9:11) refers this to David’s ruined kingdom; possibly an allusion to a king’s tent (a royal tent). God is at work to reestablish David’s line. (Acts 2:30-36; 13:32-39). JAMES CONTINUES.

(Acts 15:19-21; “Therefore I conclude that we should not cause extra difficulty for those among the Gentiles who are turning to God, but that we should write them a letter telling them to abstain from things defiled by idols and from sexual immorality and from what has been strangled and from blood. (21) For Moses has had those who proclaim Him in every town from ancient times, because he is read aloud in the synagogues every Sabbath.”) It’s obvious, our Lord’s brother became a leader in the church. Their letter to the gentile converts isn’t to separate them, but to have them demonstrate a turning to “the God of creation and away from their old pagan gods who condoned such things.”

(Acts 15:22-29; “Then the apostles and elders, with the whole church, decided to send men chosen from among them, Judas called Barsabbas and Silas, leaders among the brothers, to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas. They sent this letter with them:

From the apostles and elders, your brothers, to the Gentile brothers and sisters in Antioch, Syria, and Cilicia, greetings! Since we have heard that some have gone out from among us with no orders from us and have confused you, upsetting your minds by what they said, we’ve unanimously decided to choose men to send to you along with our dear friends Barnabas and Paul, who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. (27) Therefore we are sending Judas and Silas who will tell you these things themselves in person. For it seemed best to the Holy Spirit and to us not to place any greater burden on you than these necessary rules: (29) that you abstain from meat that has been sacrificed to idols and from blood and from what has been strangled and from sexual immorality. Keep yourselves from doing these things, you’ll do well. Farewell.”)

Things these previous pagans must turned from are primarily “ways the pagan gods condoned. The good news message was never, “a come as you are, believe and be saved.”
