Paul to the Phillippians and commentary, chapter 6

To: People Called to be Spiritual Israelites, atOne with Jesus. 4/12/19, God’s 1st month 7th day of Nisan, 5,779 until sunset.

Israelites had been in Egypt more than 400 years, Deliverer Jesus was telling Moses and Aaron “say to the Pharaoh release My people so they may serve Me.” Plagues would come on Egypt if he refused, Jesus knew he’d refuse because He’d hardened Pharaoh’s heart. (See Exodus 10:) Satan had been leading the Egyptians and Israelites to serve imaginary gods and the Lord was allowing pagan priest to duplicate some miracles He did through Moses. Today’s world is like Egypt was and is. In bondage to the god of this world, Satan.

Through Moses Jesus sent locusts, destroying vegetation through out the land until nothing green remained. Afterward Pharaoh ask Moses to pray that the Lord take this death from him and Egypt. The Lord responded and caused an east wind to blow all the Locusts out in the red sea. Again the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart and he didn’t let the Israelites go.

(Exodus 11:1-3; The Lord said to Moses, “I will bring one more plague on Pharaoh and on Egypt; after that he will release you from this place. When he releases you, he will drive you out completely from this place. (2) Instruct the people that each man and each woman is to request from his or her neighbor items of silver and gold.” (Now the Lord granted the people favor with the Egyptians. Moreover, the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, respected by Pharaoh’s servants and by the Egyptian people.)

The deliverance of Israel from Egypt looked forward to greater things, “a spiritual deliverance of a called out people who’d lovingly be atOne with and obedient to their Deliverer - Jesus. After Jesus’ return a greater physical deliverance of Israel to the borders promised through Abraham.

(Jeremiah 31:31-32; “Indeed, a time is coming,” says the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and Judah. It will not be like the old covenant that I made with their ancestors when I delivered them from Egypt. For they violated that covenant, even though I was like a faithful husband to them,” says the Lord.

(Jer 31:33; “But I will make a new covenant with the whole nation of Israel after I plant them back in the land,” says the Lord. “I will put my law within them and write it on their hearts and minds. I will be their God and they will be My people.

Jer 31:34; “People will no longer need to teach their neighbors and relatives to know Me. For all of them, from the least important to the most important, will know Me,” says the Lord. “For I will forgive their sin and will no longer call to mind the wrong they have done.”

The Lord Guarantees Israel’s Continuance, promises are perpetual.

(Jer 31:35-37; The Lord has made a promise to Israel. He promises it as the One who fixed the sun to give light by day and the moon and stars to give light by night. He promises it as the One who stirs up the sea so that its waves roll. He promises it as the One who is known as the Lord who rules over all. The Lord affirms, “The descendants of Israel will not cease forever to be a nation in My sight. That could only happen if the fixed ordering of the heavenly lights were to cease to operate before Me.” (37) The Lord says, “I will not reject all the descendants of Israel because of all that they have done. That could only happen if the heavens above could be measured or the foundations of the earth below could all be explored,” says the Lord.”

Jerusalem Will Be Enlarged

Jer 31:38-40; “Indeed a time is coming,” says the Lord, “when the city of Jerusalem will be rebuilt as My special city. It will be built from the Tower of Hananel westward to the Corner Gate. The boundary line will extend beyond that, straight west from there to the Hill of Gareb and then turn southward to Goah. The whole valley where dead bodies and sacrificial ashes are thrown and all the terraced fields out to the Kidron Valley on the east as far north as the Horse Gate will be included within this city that is sacred to the Lord. The city will never again be torn down or destroyed.”)

The same Lord God Jesus making these promises is the Vine we branches must cling to, less we be burned up.

(John 15:6-7; “I am the Vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in Me – and I in him – bears much fruit, because apart from Me you can accomplish nothing. If anyone does not remain in Me, he is thrown out like a branch, and dries up; and such branches are gathered up and thrown into the fire, and are burned up.”) God’s spirit in Believers provides the power to practice living as attached to the Vine. During Jesus’ millennial kingdom many who lived and died in this age, will be physically resurrected and become Believers IN Jesus. At the final judgment all unbelievers will be burned up. (See Revelations 21:8)

(John 15:7-8; “If you remain in Me and My Words remain in you, ask whatever you want, and it will be done for you. My Father is honored by this, that you bear much fruit and show that you are My disciples.”) We honor God the Father and God the Son, by living as attached to The Vine, “Jesus.”

(John 15:9-17; “Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; remain in My love. If you obey My commandments, you will remain in My love, just as I have obeyed My Father’s commandments and remain in His love. I have told you these things so that My joy may be in you, and your joy may be complete. My commandment is this – to love one another just as I have loved you. (13) No one has greater love than this – that one lays down his life for his friends. You are My friends if you do what I command you. I no longer call you slaves, because the slave does not understand what his master is doing. But I have called you friends, because I have revealed to you everything I heard from My Father. You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that remains, so that whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. This I command you – to love one another.”)

Heavenly Father: lead us to understand what’s meant by, “being clothed with and immersed in Christ.” Help our minds be yielded to Jesus and His apostles teaching, practices and faith. Make us mindful of divisionary religions and who they serve. Thank You for revealed understanding. In the name and nature of Jesus we praise You. AMEN.

Satan is the author of confusion, author of pagan practices camouflaging truth. He’s the god of this world. Our duty as called out Christians is, to prove all things, hold fast to what is good and overcome our inherited from Adam fleshly nature to the end. (see 1 Thess 5:21-24)

Paganism is practicing customs with worshipful overtures to gods of the imagination. The holy scripture principle defines a pagan as - a non-believer in Jesus, “the God of Abraham.” Believing IN God is to live and practice what He defines as good. Keeping holy, things, customs and times holy to Him.

(Our English dictionary defines paganism as, “a religious way of life, or degree of knowledge “polytheist” the worship of or belief in more than one deity, especially several, or “pantheist” ‘the belief that God and the material world are one and the same thing. That God is present in everything, or a belief in all imagined deities.)

It’s people imagining from within their fleshly intellect and followers of “ancient or current” man made customs of worship. (Including wearing of or looking to something that helps one remember, can be images, statutes and the dependency on one’s personal intellect for knowledge.)

Worshiping the Son of God and God the Father is, “singular worship” they’re as One and atONE with each other. Jesus makes this clear in all His Words pertaining to worship. His apostles were Believers IN this revealed truth. Writing from prison, Paul continues his letter to the Philippians.

( Phil 2:19-24; “Now I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you soon, so that I too may be encouraged by hearing news about you. For there is no one here like him who will readily demonstrate his deep concern for you. Others are busy with their own concerns, not those of Jesus Christ. (22) But you know his qualifications, that like a son working with his father, he served with me in advancing the gospel. So I hope to send him as soon as I know more about my situation, though I am confident in the Lord that I too will be coming to see you soon.)

Paul knew some co-workers were overly concerned with their own affairs, but each were “born from above Believers IN.”

(Phil 2:25-30; “But for now I have considered it necessary to send Epaphroditus to you. For he is my brother, coworker and fellow soldier, and your messenger and minister to me in my need. Indeed, he greatly missed all of you and was distressed because you heard that he had been ill. In fact he became so ill that he nearly died. But God showed mercy to him – and not to him only, but also to me – so that I would not have grief on top of grief. Therefore I am all the more eager to send him, so that when you see him again you can rejoice and I can be free from anxiety. So welcome him in the Lord with great joy, and honor people like him, since it was because of the work of Christ that he almost died. He risked his life so that he could make up for your inability to serve me.”)

An honest study of these five verses reveals the time of instantaneous healing through the apostles were near their end, “for a time.” Remember Jesus’ Words to His apostles. (John 14:12-14; “I tell you the solemn truth, the person who believes in Me will perform the miraculous deeds that I am doing, and will perform greater deeds than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in My name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.”)

Two things should be considered. “Believing IN” isn’t “believing that” “Believing IN” is supernaturally gifted.” Believing that rationalizes God exist, without the conviction of being atOne with or attached to Jesus as a branch to the Vine.

In someone’s name, (particularly Jesus’) is as being of the same mind, likened to one sent as an ambassador, or gifted with the nature of Jesus. (No doubt; Paul prayed for Epaphroditus’ instant healing, but his healing wasn’t instant.) The last instantaneous healing recorded in the holy scriptures is at Acts 28:. When in route to Rome Paul and company were ship wrecked at the Island of Malta. There Jesus instantly healed the father of Publius, “the island’s ruler.”

All Jesus’ instant healings, resurrections, calming the sea and re-creating food for thousands, were evident proof of who He is. Likewise all Jesus’ healings through His apostles were evident proof of their position in Jesus. Peter’s shadow healing people as it passed over, like other miracles through His apostles were evident proof of Jesus’ working through them. When Jesus’ apostles, “Peter & John” commanded a cripple to stand and when Jesus resurrecting a deceased lady though Peter’s prayer; each and all such healings were through Jesus giving them, “knowing faith.” (In other words, Jesus revealed what He would do in advance of their asking.) Paul’s praying for Epaphroditus was through “hope faith.” That is, Paul had no advance revelation of instant healing. Using Jesus’ name in prayer and asking that our request be granted, should always be, “according to His will.” Being At One with Jesus is, “believing IN His will and desiring His will be done.” We’re blessed indeed when we know we’re Believers IN.
