The Christian Obligation, chapter 7

To: People gifted with desire to be atOne with Jesus; “spiritual Israelites.” 5/1/2019, God’s 1st month 26th day of Nisan, 5,779 until sunset.

All people inherit a “get” nature from Adam until God reveals His loving “give” nature - attributes, making us ashamed and giving a desire to turn. The get nature is hostile toward the give nature. It leans to selfish pursuits. A condoning of what seems right to the get nature. (Prov 14:12-13; There is a way that seems right to a person, but its end is the way that leads to death. Even in laughter the heart may ache, and the end of joy may be grief.) Until God reveals Himself, calls and gives a transformation desire we think fleshly. After repenting and “being born from above” we think spiritually. Then we’re supernaturally transformed to; “Believer IN” status. Then we’re His people. Then we have a covenant with Savior Jesus.

Paul’s letter to the Colossian Church and all believers IN, “is for a people whose nature has been miraculously changed.” “The Elect and holy.” Such are called to apply themselves and grow in the grace and knowledge of God.

(Colossians 3:12-17; “Therefore, as the Elect of God, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with a heart of mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, bearing with one another and forgiving one another, if someone happens to have a complaint against anyone else. Just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also forgive others. And to all these virtues add love, which is the perfect bond. (15) Let the peace of Christ be in control in your heart (for you were in fact called as one body to this peace) and be thankful. Let “allow” the Word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and exhorting one another with all wisdom, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, all with grace in your hearts to God. And whatever you do in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”) After being called and God personally revealed, it’s commanded that we overcome “conquer” to the end.

In Jesus’ revelations to His apostle John, the characteristics of His seven churches are revealed. Their good and short coming qualities revealed for our understanding. (Study these and let’s review the last verse or so in each letter.)

(Rev 2:6-7; (Ephesus) “But you do have this going for you: You hate what the Nicolaitans’ practice – practices I also hate. The one who has an ear had better hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers, I will permit him to eat from the tree of life ‘immortality’ that is in the paradise of God.’”) Nicolas, a Gentile convert to Judaism from Antioch.

Nicolaitans (sometimes associated with Nicolaus, one of the seven original deacons in the church at Jerusalem (See Acts 6:5) they apparently taught Christians could engage in immoral behavior with impunity. )

(Rev 2:10-11; (Smyrna) “The devil is about to have some of you thrown into prison so you may be tested and you will experience suffering for ten days. Remain faithful even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown that is life itself. “immortality” The one who has an ear had better hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who conquers will in no way be harmed by the second death.’”)

(Rev 2:14-17; (Pergamum) “But I have a few things against you: You have some people there who follow the teaching of Balaam, who instructed Balak to put a stumbling block before the people of Israel so they would eat food sacrificed to idols and commit sexual immorality. In the same way, there are also some among you who follow the teaching of the Nicolaitans. Therefore, repent! If not, I will come against you quickly and make war against those people with the sword of My mouth. The one who has an ear had better hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers, I will give him some of the hidden manna and I will give him a white stone and on that stone will be written a new name that no one can understand except the one who receives it.’”) Consider why Balak, Nicolaitans and Jezebel are listed in these churches and why it’s important not to learn the deep secrets of Satan. The last four churches seem to have a close to end age message.

(Rev 2:21-29; (Thyatira) “You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, and by her teaching deceives My servants to commit sexual immorality and to eat food sacrificed to idols. I have given her time to repent, but she is not willing to repent of her sexual immorality. But to the rest of you in Thyatira, all who do not hold to this teaching (who have not learned the so-called “deep secrets of Satan”) to you I say: I do not put any additional burden on you. However, hold on to what you have until I come. And to the one who conquers and who continues in My deeds until the end, I will give him authority over the nations– he will rule them with an iron rod and like clay jars he will break them to pieces, just as I have received the right to rule from My Father – and I will give him the morning star. The one who has an ear had better hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’”) “Know any major religion that condones homosexuality?”

(Rev 3:4-6: (Sardis) “But you have a few individuals in Sardis who have not stained their clothes and they will walk with Me dressed in white, because they are worthy. The one who conquers will be dressed like them in white clothing and I will never erase his name from the book of life, but will declare his name before My Father and before His angels. The one who has an ear had better hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’”)

(Rev 3:9-13; (Philadelphia) “Listen! I am going to make those people from the synagogue of Satan – who say they are Jews “Christian” yet are not but are lying, Look, I will make them come and bow down at your feet and acknowledge that I have loved you. Because you have kept My admonition to endure steadfastly, I will also keep you from the hour of testing that is about to come on the whole world to test those who live on the earth. The one who conquers I will make a pillar in the temple of My God, and he will never depart from it. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God (the new Jerusalem that comes down out of heaven from My God) and My new name as well. The one who has an ear had better hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’”)

(Rev 3:14-22; (Laodicea) “Listen! I am standing at the door and knocking! If anyone hears My voice and opens the door I will come into his home and share a meal with him and he with Me. I will grant the one who conquers permission to sit with Me on My throne, just as I too conquered and sat down with My Father on His throne. The one who has an ear had better hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’”) Is “Laodicea church” characteristic of Jesus’ prophecy regarding the times just before His return?

Peace on earth was prophesied long before.

Jesus’ return as King of kings, Lord of lords bringing peace, abundance, worldwide knowledge of God was proclaimed by His prophets. His first coming was “The Light to the world.” Through Him we see God the Father. To the called Jesus is, “that Rock that led Israel from sinful Egypt” a stumbling stone to unbelievers. When Jesus’ parents brought Him to Jerusalem to do the customary, a righteous devout man named Simeon was spirit directed to be there. It had been revealed to Simeon that he’d not die before he saw the Lord’s Christ. Taking Jesus in his arms, Simeon said, “Now, according to Your Word, Sovereign Lord, permit your servant to depart in peace. For my eyes have seen Your salvation that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples: a light, for revelation to the Gentiles and for glory to Your people Israel.” So the child’s father and mother were amazed at what was said about Him. Then Simeon blessed them and said to His mother Mary, “Listen carefully: This child is destined to be the cause of the falling and rising of many in Israel and to be a sign that will be rejected. Indeed, as a result of Him the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed – and a sword will pierce your own soul as well!” Luke 2:25-35) (Jesus said about Himself.)

(Matt 10:34-36; “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law, and a man’s enemies will be the members of his household.) After Jesus is revealed, His spirit imputed, we find little in common with the world; likely our families too. Consider what’s revealed to the Baptist.

(John 1:6-13; “A man came, sent from God, whose name was John, came as a witness to testify about The Light, so that everyone might believe through Him. He Himself was not The Light, but he came to testify about The Light. The True Light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. He was in the world and the world was created by Him, but the world did not recognize Him. He came to what was His own, but His own people did not receive Him. But to all who have received Him – those who believe IN His name – He has given the right to become God’s children; children not born by human parents or by human desire or a husband’s decision, but by God.”)

Let’s be mindful; when God the Father reveals Jesus in this age, it’s not to bring peace “division is likely.” It’s God’s decision that we become His. When He comes again as Lord of lords, knowledge of Him will cover as water covers the sea. God has promised a miraculous spiritual and physical resurrection. Prophesy through Jeremiah, is one of several.

(Jeremiah 31:8-22; Then I will reply ‘I will bring them back from the land of the north. I will gather them in from the distant parts of the earth. Blind and lame people will come with them, so will pregnant women and women about to give birth. A vast throng of people will come back here. They will come back shedding tears of contrition. I will bring them back praying prayers of repentance. I will lead them besides streams of water, along smooth paths where they will never stumble. I will do this because I am Israel’s Father; Ephraim is My firstborn son.’” (Ephraim & Manassas were Joseph’s sons, Jacob - Israel’s grandsons, special blessings were promised these two. God set the younger before the older. See Genesis 48:20)

(Jer 31:10-14; Hear what the Lord has to say, O nations. Proclaim it in the faraway lands along the sea. Say, “The One who scattered Israel will re-gather them. He will watch over His people like a shepherd watches over his flock.” For the Lord will rescue the descendants of Jacob. He will secure their release from those who had overpowered them. They will come and shout for joy on Mount Zion. They will be radiant with joy over the good things the Lord provides, the grain, the fresh wine, the olive oil, the young sheep and calves he has given to them. They will be like a well-watered garden and will not grow faint or weary any more. The Lord says, “At that time young women will dance and be glad. Young men and old men will rejoice. I will turn their grief into gladness. I will give them comfort and joy in place of their sorrow. I will provide the priests with abundant provisions. My people will be filled to the full with the good things I provide.”

(Jer 31:15-20; The Lord says, “A sound is heard in Ramah, a sound of crying in bitter grief. It is the sound of Rachel, “Jacob’s wife” weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because her children are gone.” The Lord says to her, “Stop crying! Do not shed any more tears! For your heartfelt repentance will be rewarded. Your children will return from the land of the enemy. I, the Lord, affirm it! Indeed, there is hope for your posterity. Your children will return to their own territory. I the Lord, affirm it! I have indeed heard the people of Israel say mournfully, ‘We were like a calf untrained to the yoke. You disciplined us and we learned from it. Let us come back to You and we will do so, for You are the Lord our God. For after we turned away from You we repented. After we came to our senses we beat our breasts in sorrow. We are ashamed and humiliated because of the disgraceful things we did previously.’ Indeed, the people of Israel are My dear children. They are the children I take delight in. For even though I must often rebuke them, I still remember them with fondness. So I am deeply moved with pity for them and will surely have compassion on them. I, the Lord, affirm it!

(Jer 31:21-22; I will say, ‘My dear children of Israel, keep in mind the road you took when you were carried off. Mark off in your minds the landmarks. Make a mental note of telltale signs marking the way back. Return, my dear children of Israel. Return to these cities of yours. How long will you vacillate, you who were once like an unfaithful daughter? For I, the Lord, promise to bring about something new on the earth, something as unique as a woman protecting a man!’”) All this in part, because of God’s promise to Abraham. Thus, all Israel is to be saved, (see Romans 11:26.)

God’s second holy season is only a few weeks away. It’s Pentecost the birth date of God’s New Covenant church. The third holy season begins on the first day of God’s seventh month, “Trumpets” foreshadows the first and spiritual resurrection and Jesus’ return. The tenth day of His seventh month is, “Atonement” “Yom Kipper” foreshadowing Believers IN, literally being atOne with God the Son and God the Father. The fifteenth day begins the “Feast of Tabernacles” foreshadowing Jesus’ millennial reign. The twenty second, “eighth day of the “Feast of Tabernacles” is God’s seventh annual Sabbath, called “The Last Great Day” foreshadowing final judgment. All is preplanned.
