The Christian Obligation, chapter 8

To: People gifted with desire to be atOne with Jesus; “spiritual Israelites.” 5/2/2019, God’s 1st month 27th day of Nisan, 5,779 until sunset.

Long before the God the Son “Creator Lord God Jesus” re-created earth from it’s chaotic conditions caused by a previous flood, He had created angelic being, among them Lucifer. When Jesus’ disciples returned from their preaching mission, reporting their success over demons in His name, Jesus said to them “I seen Satan fall like lightning from heaven. (See Luke 10:17) Satan was kicked out from the heavenly realms for reasons pre-known to God. As Jesus knew Judas’s deceptive character before his actions, it’s sure He knew Satan’s and purposely allowed both. The question to explore is why? Lets consider what’s revealed.

Jesus inspired His prophet Isaiah to write about Satan’s desire to rule, that result and his ultimate demise. He shared the result of Satan’s influence on the king of Babylon, Assyrian and other rulers. How Satan uses certain nations - people groups and unbelievers to persecute God’s chosen people etc. Jesus refers to Satan as “that old devil, a liar, father of liars, conqueror of the nations” in His revelations to John.

Rev 12:7-10; Then war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. But the dragon was not strong enough to prevail, so there was no longer any place left in heaven for him and his angels. (9) So that huge dragon – the ancient serpent, the one called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world – was thrown down to the earth, and his angels along with him. Then I ‘John’ heard a loud voice in heaven saying, “The salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the ruling authority of His Christ, have now come,

because the accuser of our brothers and sisters, ‘Satan’ the one who accuses them day and night before our God, has been thrown down.)

(People may think it hypothetical, but Satan’s revealed nature is evident. If God shared His intent to make humankind in His image and likeness for the purpose of becoming His family “superior to angelic beings” “jealously was likely Satan’s problem.

Isaiah 14:12-20;  Look how you have fallen from the sky, O shining one, son of the dawn! You have been cut down to the ground, O conqueror of the nations! You said to yourself, “I will climb up to the sky. Above the stars of El. I will set up my throne. I will rule on the mountain of assembly on the remote slopes of Zaphon. I will climb up to the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High! “God of Israel.” But you were brought down to Sheol, to the remote slopes of the pit. (‘Hebrew term בּוּר (bor, “cistern”) metaphorically referring to the place of the dead or the entrance to the underworld.) (Satan works through people to the degree that he’s depicted as human.) (16) Those who see you stare at you, they look at you carefully, thinking: “Is this the man who shook the earth, the one who made kingdoms tremble? Is this the one who made the world like a desert, who ruined its cities, and refused to free his prisoners so they could return home. All the kings of the nations, all of them lie down in splendor, each in his own tomb, (19) but you ‘Satan’ have been thrown out of your grave ‘sheol’ like a shoot that is thrown away. You lie among the slain, among those who have been slashed by the sword, among those headed for the stones of the pit, as if you were a mangled corpse. (20) You will not be buried with them, because you destroyed your land and killed your people. The offspring of the wicked will never be mentioned again.”) Take time to study the whole chapter.

Jesus’ message through Isaiah is in part, directed to the king of Babylon. Revealing how Satan cleverly uses pagan thinking rulers, with Canaanite type mythology, Baal, solar system and sun worship are all his demonic tools. He’s referenced as Helel son of Shachar, the stars of El, the mountain of assembly, the recesses of Zaphon and the divine title “Most High” may allude to a mythological story about minor gods. (Helel son of Shachar supposedly tried to take over Zaphon, the mountain of the gods.) His coup failed and he too was hurled down to the underworld. The king of Babylon is taunted for having similar unrealized delusions of grandeur. These failures are likened to Satan’s fall.)

Satan’s power is demonstrated in how he was allowed to tempt the Son of God “Jesus” in ways similar to how he tempted Eve and each of us. Jesus taught us how to overcome Satan’s temptations.

(Matthew 4:1-11; “Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After He fasted forty days and forty nights He was famished. The tempter ‘Satan’ came and said to Him, “If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become bread.” But He answered, “It is written, ‘Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” (Quote from Deut 8:3) Then the devil took Him to the holy city, had Him stand on the highest point of the temple, and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down. For it is written, ‘He will command his angels concerning You’ and ‘with their hands they will lift you up, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’” (Quote from Psalms 91:11-12) (7) Jesus said to him, “Once again it is written: ‘You are not to put the Lord your God to the test.’” (Quote from Deut 6:12) Again, the devil took Him to a very high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their grandeur. (9) And he said to Him, “I will give you all these things if you throw Yourself to the ground and worship me.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go away, Satan! For it is written: ‘You are to worship the Lord your God and serve only Him.’” (Quote from Deut 6:13) Then the devil left Him, and angels came and began ministering to His needs.”) As a spirit filled fleshly human, Jesus used His own words, “the words of God” to overcome and resist the devil.

Satan the liar.

Adam and Eve were alone in the garden among animals. Satan manifesting himself as a serpent, said to Eve, “eat and you’ll be like a divine beings knowing right and wrong.

(Gen 3:1-7;  Now the serpent was more shrewd than any of the wild animals that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Is it really true that God said, ‘You must not eat from any tree of the orchard’?” The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit from the trees of the orchard; but concerning the fruit of the tree that is in the middle of the orchard God said, ‘You must not eat from it, and you must not touch it, or else you will die.’” (Jesus had said, “in order that you not die.” By stating the warning as she did, Eve omits the emphatic infinitive used by God (“you shall surely die,”(Gen 2:17; “But you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will surely die.”)

(4) “The serpent said to the woman, “Surely you will not die, for God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will open and you will be like divine beings who know good and evil.”

(6) When the woman saw that the tree produced fruit that was good for food, was attractive to the eye, and was desirable for making one wise, she took some of its fruit and ate it. She also gave some of it to her husband who was with her, and he ate it. (7) Then the eyes of both of them opened, and they knew they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.”)

Satan told two out right lies. (1) He called God a liar, saying “surely you will not die. (2) Satan said “You’ll be like divine beings. ’immortal.’ (Both totally false.) Then Satan told a partial truth. Adam and Eve did become consciously aware of their nakedness. Aware that God had been covered when communing with them, so they didn’t want to face God naked.

(Gen 3:8-13; Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God moving about in the orchard at the breezy time of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the orchard. But the Lord God called to the man and said to him, “Where are you?” The man replied, “I heard you moving about in the orchard, and I was afraid because I was naked, so I hid.” (11) And the Lord God said, “Who told you that you were naked? Did you eat from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?” The man said, “The woman whom you gave me, she gave me some fruit from the tree and I ate it.” So the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” And the woman replied, “The serpent tricked me, and I ate.”) A similar blame game is still going on. Yielding to Satan’s temptations, believing and trusting him was to disobey and doubt their Creator God. Adam and Eve became sinners, passed their sin nature and it’s result to each of us. That nature and it’s result can only be altered through believing IN Jesus’ shed blood for the remission of our sins, “the shed blood of our very Creator “Jesus.“ Through Jesus’ shed blood  Is the only way to inherit immortality. The only way to inherit Jesus’ nature is through believing IN Him, turning form the inherited from Adam nature and to Jesus. That revelation is a calling to believe IN, be clothed in and immersed in Jesus’ nature. The Lord God Jesus made “the way” to overcome sin through Himself.

(Gen 3:14; The Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this,

cursed are you above all the wild beasts and all the living creatures of the field! On your belly you will crawl and dust you will eat all the days of your life. (Perhaps Satan’s ability to alter forms are limited.)

(Gen 3:15; And I will put hostility between you and the woman and between your offspring and her offspring; her offspring will attack your head, and you will attack her offspring’s heel.”) Note: man and woman is questioned, the serpent is cursed, sentence is passed on the man and woman.

(Gen3:16; To the woman He said, “I will greatly increase your labor pains;

with pain you will give birth to children. You will want to control your husband, but he will dominate you.”) Sentence passed, so it is through this date.

(Gen 3:17-19; But to Adam He said, “Because you obeyed your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it,’

cursed is the ground thanks to you; in painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life. It will produce thorns and thistles for you, but you will eat the grain of the field. By the sweat of your brow you will eat food until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you will return.”) Sentence passed.

(Gen 3:20-22; The man named his wife Eve, because she was the mother of all the living. The Lord God made garments from skin for Adam and his wife, and clothed them. And the Lord God said, “Now that the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil, he must not be allowed to stretch out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat and live forever.”) Our all knowing Creator knew Satan’s intent and His created beings vulnerabilities. (God created in Adam the capacity to consciously know right from wrong, “His likeness, differentiating us from animals.” The way to the tree of life is still a mystery to the world at large but revealed to His chosen.

(Gen 3:23 So the Lord God expelled him from the orchard in Eden to cultivate the ground from which he had been taken. When He drove the man out, He placed on the eastern side of the orchard in Eden angelic sentries who used the flame of a whirling sword to guard the way to the tree of life.”)
