The Christian Obligation, chapter 17

To: 17,376 gifted with a desire to be atOne with God the Father and God the Son “Jesus” “People called to be Spiritual Israelites” 5/17/19, God’s 2nd month 12th day of Lyyar 5,779 until sunset.

Book Chapter 11

God has allowed Satan’s success at deceiving the whole world, his many deceptions are obstacles that must be overcome. When a person believes IN one deceptive doctrine, “God’s truth is camouflaged.” The false must be completely abandoned. The Israelites delivered from Egypt were unable to abandon their previous indoctrination to the degree that among them only Joshua and Caleb were allowed to the promised lands. Proof that we can’t overcome deep deceptions without God’s calling, revealing and delivering.

Another demonic obstacle is human familiarity. When Jesus went to His hometown with His truths, the people’s attitude was “who does He think He is.”

(Matt 13:54-58; Jesus came to His hometown and began to teach the people in their synagogue. They were astonished and said, “Where did this man get such wisdom and miraculous powers? Isn’t this the carpenter’s son? Isn’t His mother named Mary? And aren’t his brothers James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas? And aren’t all His sisters here with us? Where did He get all this?” And so they took offense at Him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and in his own house.” (58) And He did not do many miracles there because of their unbelief.”) Many have experienced this when attempting to teach truth.

While Satan is selling the world on various methodologies to be saved, Jesus’ good news message “mystery - secret” “is being spiritually imputed to the minds of those called out to Believers IN.” A people like Abraham who “simply believed God.” (Prophets of old and angels have desired to see “understanding” “how could it be that a person be made atOne with God.”) Jesus explained to His apostles.

(Matt 13:16-17; “But your eyes are blessed because they see, and your ears because they hear. For I tell you the truth, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.”

(Matt 13:18-23; “So listen to the parable of the sower: When anyone hears the word about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one ‘Satan’ comes and snatches what was sown in his heart; this is the seed sown along the path. The seed sown on rocky ground is the person who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy. But he has no root in himself and does not endure; when trouble or persecution comes because of the word, he falls immediately away. The seed sown among thorns is the person who hears the word, but worldly cares and the seductiveness of wealth choke the word, so it produces nothing. (23) But as for the seed sown on good soil, “a gifted to believe IN mind’ this is the person who hears the word and understands. He bears fruit, yielding a hundred, sixty, or thirty times what was sown.”)

(Matt 13:24-30; Jesus presented them with another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a person who sowed good seed in his field. But while everyone was sleeping, an enemy ‘Satan’ came and sowed weeds ’deception’ among the wheat and went away. When the plants sprouted and bore grain, then the weeds also appeared. (27) So the slaves of the owner came and said to him, ‘Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Then where did the weeds come from?’ He said, “An enemy ‘Satan’ has done this.” So the slaves replied, ‘Do you want us to go and gather them?’ But he said, ‘No, since in gathering the weeds you may uproot the wheat with them. (30) Let both ‘the believer and unbeliever’ grow together until the harvest. (Judgment)  At harvest time I will tell the reapers, “First collect the weeds ‘unbelievers’ and tie them in bundles to be burned, but then gather the wheat ‘believers IN’ into my barn.”’”) God’s truth whether “read and heard” goes out from various sources, but few are gifted with the desire to be atOne with Jesus. His apostle Paul tells us where such desire comes from?

(Phil 2:12-13; So then, my dear friends, just as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence but even more in my absence, continue working out your salvation with awe and reverence, for the one bringing forth in you both the desire and the effort – for the sake of His good pleasure – is God.”) BUT only those called to be Jesus’ followers hear His voice and are given eternal life.

Now we know “all things are possible with God” He could’ve made the delivered Israelites receptive to abandoning their previous indoctrination, “but it wasn’t time.” He could’ve made His hometown folks receptive, “but it wasn’t the time.” In each case their time will come when resurrected.

(John 10:25-30’ Jesus replied, “I told you and you do not believe. The deeds I do in My Father’s name testify about Me. But you refuse to believe because you are not my sheep. My sheep listen to My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. I give them eternal life and they will never perish; no one will snatch them from My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all, and no one can snatch them from My Father’s hand. The Father and I are One.”) At the right time God the Father calls and gives the called over to Jesus for teaching and training through His spirit of truth.

Satan instigator of the apostate and renounces belief IN.

Many gods are palmed off and people by nature choose a fitting one. Jude saw this demonic apostate coming and reveals it’s source.

(Jude 1:5 Now I desire to remind you (even though you have been fully informed of these facts once for all) that Jesus, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, later destroyed those who did not believe.

Angelic and human followers of Satan judged.

“You also know that the angels who did not keep within their proper domain but abandoned their own place of residence, He ‘Jesus’ has kept in eternal chains in utter darkness, locked up for the judgment of the great Day.” So also Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighboring towns, since they indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire in a way similar to these ‘demonic’ angels, are now displayed as an example by suffering the punishment of eternal fire.”

(Jude 1:8-10; Yet these men, as a result of their dreams, defile the flesh, reject authority, and insult the glorious ones. But even when Michael the archangel was arguing with the devil and debating with him about Moses’ body, he did not dare to bring a slanderous judgment, but said, “May the Lord rebuke you!” (10) But these men do not understand the things they slander, and they are being destroyed by the very things that, like irrational animals, they instinctively comprehend.”) Michael insisted that Moses’ place of burial not be marked because he knew people’s inclination to worship. Satan wanted a hostile people worshiping like instinctive animals, “following what seems right to that nature.”

(Jude 1:11 Woe to them! For they have traveled down Cain’s path, ‘path of personal choice’ and because of greed have abandoned themselves to Balaam’s error; hence, they will certainly perish in Korah’s rebellion. These men are dangerous reefs at your love feasts, feasting without reverence, feeding only themselves. They are waterless clouds, carried along by the winds; autumn trees without fruit – twice dead, uprooted; wild sea waves, spewing out the foam of their shame; wayward stars for whom the utter depths of eternal darkness have been reserved.”) (In dying, folks described here will surely die a second death.) (See Revelations 21:8) All part of the apostate Satan is palming off now.

(Jude 1:14-16; Now Enoch, the seventh in descent beginning with Adam, even prophesied of them, saying, “Look! The Lord is coming with thousands and thousands of His holy ones, to execute judgment on all, and to convict every person of all their thoroughly ungodly deeds that they have committed and of all the harsh words that ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.” (16) These people are grumblers and fault-finders who go wherever their desires lead them, and they give bombastic speeches, enchanting folks for their own gain.”) (Religious, political and denominational leaders who make merchandise of people.)

Exhortation to the Faithful

(Jude 1:17-23; But you, dear friends – recall the predictions foretold by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. For they said to you, “In the end time there will come scoffers, propelled by their own ungodly desires.” These people are divisive, worldly, devoid of the Spirit. (20) But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith, by praying in the Holy Spirit, maintain yourselves in the love of God, while anticipating the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that brings eternal life. And have mercy on those who waver; save others by snatching them out of the fire; have mercy on others, coupled with a fear of God, hating even the clothes stained by the flesh.”) (Delivered from Egypt Israelites and Jesus’ hometown citizens were stained by fleshly indoctrination.)

Final Blessing obtained by gifted desire.

(Jude 1:24-25; Now to the One ‘Jesus’ who is able to keep you from falling, and to cause you to stand, rejoicing, without blemish before His glorious presence, to the only God our Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, power, and authority, before all time, and now, and for all eternity. Amen.”)

It’s God’s imputed spirit of truth to the mind that gives understanding and a loving desire to be obedient. To these God gifted characteristics likened to His own and to these each apostle wrote letters to. At the end of Paul’s Colossian letter he names his associates. Among them was Mark, the writer of the gospel account titled, “Mark” and Luke the writer of the gospel account titled, “Luke“ and “Acts of the Apostles.” Mark was a cousin to Barnabas, “Jesus’ apostle.” Luke the physician and writer of the gospel account titled, “Luke” “Tychicus and Onesimus, ones from the Colossian church.” “Onesimus was a runaway slave, from his master, “Philemon” when Paul met him.” Now Onesimus is back with Paul and serving. Before the time of Paul’s Colossians letter he’d sent Onesimus back to Philemon with the following letter.” Here’s how we should respect one another.

(Philemon 1:1-3; “From Paul a prisoner of Christ Jesus and Timothy our brother, to Philemon, our dear friend and co-laborer, to Apphia our sister, to Archippus our fellow soldier, and to the church that meets in your house. Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!”) Many women worked at spreading Jesus’ good news with Paul.  Churches in homes wasn’t uncommon.

Obviously Paul wanted his letter to Philemon to be seen

by those named above and each believer IN, it’s a lessen for all.

(Philemon 1:4-24; “I always thank my God as I remember you, “Philemon,” in my prayers, because I hear of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the Saints. I pray that the faith you share with us may deepen your understanding of every blessing that belongs to you in Christ. I have had great joy and encouragement, because of your love for the hearts of the Saints have been refreshed through you, brother “So, although I have quite a lot of confidence in Christ and could command you to do what is proper” I would rather appeal to you on the basis of love – I, Paul, an old man and even now a prisoner for the sake of Christ Jesus – (I am appealing to you concerning my child, whose spiritual father I have become during my imprisonment, that is, “Onesimus” who was formerly useless to you, but is now useful to you and me.)

(“I have sent him (who is my very heart) back to you. I wanted to keep him so that he could serve me in your place during my imprisonment for the sake of the gospel. However, without your consent I did not want to do anything, so that your good deed would not be out of compulsion, but from your own willingness. For perhaps it was for this reason that he was separated from you for a little while, so that you would have him back eternally, no longer as a slave, but more than a slave, as a dear brother. He is especially so to me, and even more so to you now, both humanly speaking and in the Lord.”)

Therefore if you regard me as a partner, accept him as you would me. (18) Now if he has defrauded you of anything or owes you anything, charge what he owes to me. I, Paul, have written this letter with my own hand: I will repay it. I could also mention that you owe me your very self. Yes, brother, let me have some benefit from you in the Lord. Refresh my heart in Christ. Since I was confident that you would obey, I wrote to you, because I knew that you would do even more than what I am asking you to do. At the same time also, prepare a place for me to stay, for I hope that through your prayers I will be given back to you.

(23) Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus, greets you. Mark, Aristarchus, Demas and Luke, my co-laborers, greet you too. May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.”)

We noted from the Colossians letter, that Onesimus was one of Paul’s coworkers and obviously, after Paul’s letter Philemon gave Onesimus his freedom. Philemon had likely been a Believer for a good while, likely had read or had heard of the principles in Paul’s letters and knew the love of Jesus.

When Jesus and His apostles speak of faith, they are speaking of believing IN faith. Which is to say, “the gifted revealed knowledge of God the Father and God the Son.” The words, “when faith came to you” has the meaning, “when God is revealed to you.” Likely Philemon understood the spiritual content of Paul’s letter.
