The Christian Obligation, chapter 24

To: A people desiring to be atOne with God the Father and God the Son “Jesus” “Called to be Spiritual Israelites” 6/3/19, God’s 2nd month 29th day of Lyyar 5,779 until sunset.

Book Chapter 18

Satan doesn’t want us thinking Loyalty to our Creator. We’re clay and Creator God the Potter is fact. The significance of that truth? He has prerogative, we don’t. People want the prerogative to choose, “that is, be one’s own god.” That‘s idolatry! Our individual god is “that which we look to for guidance.” Whether person, statue or an imaginary deity, “that which we serve is our god.” However we did inherit a fleshly nature that wants its own way, “a sin nature that if not turned from results in eternal death.” That hostile sin nature wants to choose for its self what’s, right, wrong, good and evil, “but such choosing isn’t our prerogative because we’re made in God’s image, likeness and for His purpose.”

It’s the difference in people and animals who’re guided by instinct. People are gifted with created intellect in the likeness of  God’s. We can observe, plan, compare and develop moral character or choose to ignore God’s sustaining, planning, promises and loving laws.

Heavenly Father: great and wonderful are all your Ways; thank You for Your creations and for making us in Your image and likeness. Thank You for Your calling each Saint and gifting Your spirit of truth. Give us yielding overcoming minds that we may grow and worship You in spirit and truth is our prayer, in the name, “nature” of Jesus we pray. AMEN.

Jesus knew the whole world would be deceived before His return. Knew the vast majority would be in servitude to Satan, “most unwittingly.” Naïve people can’t see how they’re used for Satan’s purpose. How Satan’s demonic assumptions invade song lyrics, literature and religions, causing deceptive beliefs. (We repeat, “believing IN, only one demonic lie camouflages God‘s truth.”) We repeat, Satan’s most erroneous deception is his lie causing people to assume, “we’re born to live forever someplace.” It’s Satan’s first camouflaging lie taught in some form by every major religion. (Re-study Genesis 3:)

The word, “love” is probably the most powerful word we use in every day language that’s misunderstood. Especially understanding, “love’s meaning” in relation to how God loves.” (There’s two kinds of love; (1) “self-serving inherited through procreation of ours, mine and me. (2) Godly gifted love through God the Father’s injecting His spirit of truth through Jesus to the mind, “such Godly love makes people atOne with Him, able to love as He loves.”) (A study of 1Corinthians 13: gives us the full meaning of Godly love.) Our inherited fleshly minds have problems loving others as ourselves and judging righteously. The fleshly mind only knows love in respect to caring for and protecting one’s own property, family, friends, country and the like. (Fleshly love is likened to animal instinctive love in that regard, “similar to that of a female animal’s instinctively protecting their young.”) Jesus’ apostle Paul shares such love with called believers IN.

(Romans 8:5-11; “For those who live according to the flesh have their outlook shaped by the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit have their outlook shaped by the things of the Spirit. For the outlook of the flesh is death, but the outlook of the Spirit is life and peace, because the outlook of the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to the law of God, nor is it able to do so. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God. You, “followers of and believers IN Jesus” however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, this person does not belong to Him. But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is your life because of, “Jesus’ gifted” righteousness. Moreover if the Spirit of the One who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, the One who raised Christ from the dead will also make your mortal bodies alive through His Spirit who lives in you.”) (Note that we’re mortal until injected with Jesus’ spirit.)

Christians “those called and gifted to believe IN Jesus” are gifted with Godly love “for one’s self and others alike.” Righteous Godly love considers others needs as their own. (Able to discern things not discernable in the flesh.) The characteristic of instinctive love is self centered, self preservation of mine and our turf. Revenge, a natural characteristic, “an eye for an eye is natural regarding genuine concern. Gifted Godly love considers others first, “applying self judgment likened to God’s, self examination in Jesus’ light.” God’s imputed gifted spirit opens His truths to the mind.

Writing to God’s church at Corinth about observing the Passover celebration, Jesus’ apostle Paul cautioned the people to examine themselves before partaking of it. (See 1Corinthians 11:28-32; Paul went on to say; (“it’s why many of you are weak, sick, and quite a few are dead.”) But if we’d examine ourselves, we’d not be judged. But when we’re judged by the Lord, we’re disciplined so that we may not be condemned with the world.” 1Cor 11:31-32)

(God is love. see John 4:16) Thus, God’s love toward His people, include judgment, discipline and righteousness. When we love God we endure suffering as discipline, knowing that God treats us as His children. (“For what son is there that a father does not discipline? But if you do not experience discipline, something all sons have shared in, then you are illegitimate and are not sons.) Besides, we have experienced discipline from our earthly fathers and we respected them; shall we not submit ourselves all the more to the Father of spirits and receive “eternal” life?” Hebrews 12:6-9)

In Jesus’ Revelations to John, regarding His church at Laodicea: Jesus said, “All those I love, I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent!” Rev 2:19)

God’s love of His people includes discipline that gets our attention, “when we don’t practice the things He reveals.” Godly love carries over to how we love our children. (“The one who spares his rod hates his child, but the one who loves his child is diligent in disciplining him.” Proverbs 13:24) God’s love for His people include “capital punishment when people aren’t willing to yield to His values.” (God’s loving way purges wickedness from a Godly nation. (See Deuteronomy 21:18-21.)

We’ve all seen instinctive love in action, but few recognize it for what it is. For example: “governments by people “in so called democracies” evolves as instinctive love to it’s populations for governmental self serving reasons. Results in, people’s loss of self esteem and moral character diminishment, “while politicians enrich themselves.” Finally economic chaos erupts. Likewise we’d define most charitable institutions as practicing instinctive love. Soon becoming bureaucracies with CEO’S making the big bucks, with a small fraction of donations getting to the needy. (As groups, fleshly minded people naturally evolve to instinctive love behavior, yielding to the self serving ways.) History of nations verify the same: (“it’s always been that when people attempt to rule themselves, they gradually evolve to the destructive, instinctive “get way.”) Fleshly people always yield to their instinctive inherited nature. The decline and fall of the Roman empire is a good example.

Instinctive love manifest its self in many ways. Our Creator God is ignored. (Jesus said it; “No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other.” “You cannot serve God and money.” Luke 16:13) The fact is, “individuals either serves the true God of Abraham or they make something else their god, imaginary or otherwise.” Characteristically all fleshly people yield to instinctive love, “everyone sees things, their way.” Hurt me or my child, I get even. Instinctive love manifest it’s self when people find themselves in similar or same value as animal life. Like animals pastime pleasures revolves around entertainment and life style practices, “that are abominations to our Creator.” Jesus said, “these are signs of the times in which we live.” (Lawlessness increases so much, “that even instinctive love”  grows cold.)

Unbelievers scoff at attempts to shed light on this subject; but we must. Demonstrating His love for His chosen people, “the Israelites” God gave them standards to live by and “altruistic leaders.” True to the inherited instinctive love, “Israelites wanted a king like the pagan people around them.” So, God told Samuel, “the people aren’t rejecting you, they’re rejecting Me.” (When individuals, groups or nations reject God’s Way, they’re an idolatrous pagan people, “and soon evolve to haters of what God loves.”

(Matt 24:9-14; “Then they will hand you “Christians” over to be persecuted and will kill you. You will be hated by all the nations because of My name. Then many will be led into sin, and they will betray one another and hate one another. And many false prophets will appear and deceive many, and because lawlessness will increase so much, the love of many will grow cold. But the person who endures to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached throughout the whole inhabited earth as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end, “of this age” will come.”) The Christian way is difficult for many when surrounded by pagan societies. The question: who is gifted with the mind to examine themselves in Jesus’ Light and who is gifted with the desire to seek His Way? We can glean these truths from Paul’s letters to the churches.

We find the apostles repeating principle in various verbiage. We too repeat various text, from Jesus, His prophets, our Lord’s brothers James, Jude and others that support the subjects. Review is good, whether we’re blessed with near perfect memory or somewhat forgetful. As with Colossians and Philippians written during Paul’s time house arrest these authority allowed Paul visitors and coworker supports. Consider Paul’s humility.

(Phil 1:1-2; “From Paul and Timothy, slaves of Christ Jesus, to all the Saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi, with the overseers and deacons. Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!”) With Paul’s intimate relationship with Jesus and God the Father was knowledge of God’s Ways and characteristics. As apostles they each had permission to write, “from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” Jesus inspired His apostles letters.

(Phil 1:3-6; “I thank my God every time I remember you. I always pray with joy in my every prayer for all of you because of your participation in the gospel from the first day until now. For I am sure of this very thing, that the One who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.”) That is until the day of Jesus’ return or perhaps until Jesus is revealed  individually and intimately. Each believers should be about the business of support as was, God’s church at Philippi, who participated in the spread of Jesus’ good news.”) A responsibility of all who are gifted with this understanding and gifted outgoing Godly love. We Believers IN like Paul, only had instinctive love in his heart until Jesus was revealed to our minds.

(Phil 1:7-11; “For it is right for me to think this about all of you, because I have you in my heart, since both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of THE gospel all of you became partners in God’s grace together with me. For God is my witness that I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus. And I pray this, that your love may abound even more and more in knowledge and every kind of insight so that you can decide what is best, and thus be sincere and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ to the glory and praise of God.”) We too can be partners with Paul. His letters are still going out. Our goal is, “to encourage the called to overcome to the end, thus, be blameless “for the day of Christ.”

(Phil 1:12-14; “I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that my situation has actually turned out to advance the gospel. The whole imperial guard and everyone else knows that I am in prison for the sake of Christ, and most of the brothers and sisters, having confidence in the Lord because of my imprisonment, now more than ever dare to speak the word fearlessly.”)

God always works things out for good, for those He is calling. True of the inherited nature in people; many in Paul’s day began teaching a Jesus of their own understanding. From their own fleshly instinctive love nature. This too is what Paul was doing as a Pharisee, before his conversion and what each self called teacher does.

(Phil 1:15-18; “Some, to be sure, are preaching Christ from envy and rivalry, but others from goodwill. The latter do so from love because they know that I am placed here for the defense of the gospel. The former proclaim Christ from selfish ambition, not sincerely, because they think they can cause trouble for me in my imprisonment. What is the result? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is being proclaimed, and in this I rejoice. Yes I will continue to rejoice.”)

Paul isn’t overly critical of those teaching from selfish ambition. His thoughts were, “if a Jesus of one’s imagination is being proclaimed, some may be led to investigate whether or not they speak truth. (See 1Thess 5:21) Those teaching Christ from goodwill were Paul’s supporters. As today, some teach for the sake of popularity and monetary gain. The problem in each age is that many find their comfort zone in denominations that teach a mix of Judaism and paganism, using Jesus’ name. Thus Jesus’ Words are fulfilled; (“”Jesus began to say to them, “Watch out that no one misleads you. Many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am He,’ and they will mislead many.”” Mark 13:5-6)

(Phil 1:19-26; “for I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ. My confident hope is that I will in no way be ashamed but that with complete boldness, even now as always, Christ will be exalted in my body, whether I live or die. For to me, living is Christ and dying is gain. Now if I am to go on living in the body, this will mean productive work for me, yet I don’t know which I prefer: (23) I feel torn between the two, because I have a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far, but it is more vital for your sake that I remain in the body. And since I am sure of this, I know that I will remain and continue with all of you for the sake of your progress and joy in THE faith, so that what you can be proud of may increase because of me in Christ Jesus, when I come back to you.”)

Paul’s focus was on the betterment of the Philippians, you and I, without selfishness of any kind

Self preservation is a created characteristic in all living things. Though we’re created superior to all other breathing beings, “in God’s image and likeness.” Only called Believers IN have the capacity for altruistic concern, beyond instinctive love.
