The Christian Obligation, chapter 25

To: A people desiring to be atOne with God the Father and God the Son “Jesus” “Called to be Spiritual Israelites” 6/5/19, God’s 3rd  month 2nd  day of Sivan 5,779 until sunset.

Book Chapter 20

Satan wants people thinking in animalistic evolutional terms rather than “created in God’s image and likeness.” Satan doesn’t want us believing that God is earth’s Creator-Sustainer and has irrefutable plans for its survival. Puny people don’t consider the fact that one volcano eruption spews more carbon in one day than earth’s population in a generation. This knowledge doesn’t excuse the need to care for our environment. Only that we aren’t in control. God made animal nature “survival of the fittest” but put in people concern superior to that created in animals. The instinctive created nature in animals is locked in until God chooses to change it. Likewise the self serving sin nature inherited through Adam’s procreation can’t be altered except God giving His spirit.

We’re created with the capacity to individually practice what seems right, make choices, choose imaginary deities, worship our own intellect or look to God. All but the latter is idolatry. Our Creator tells us emphatically in His Word, that we’re clay, He’s the Potter, thus, to practices living from within our own reasoning is Idolatry. That’s exactly what Satan coached Eve, then Adam and Cain to do! They put what seemed rational to themselves, ahead of God’s instruction. For our learning, the holy scriptures teach that our inherited nature nurtures lust, division, war and the desire to lord over one another. Jesus’ half brother James, explains these human characteristics.

(James 4:1-3; “Where do the conflicts and where do the quarrels among you come from? Is it not from this, from your passions “inherited nature” that battle inside you? You desire and you do not have; you murder and envy and you cannot obtain; you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask; you ask and do not receive because you ask wrongly, so you can spend it on your passions.”)

Because of the hardness developed through disobedience, “many are blinded for a set time” but God gives the called an ability to analyze the result of human actions and look to Him for righteousness. The many are blinded because, they preferred the praise of people, “rather than the praise of our unseen Creator.” As with Eve, Adam and Cain, the fleshly mind finds it appealing to practice life according to inherited passions, “the get way.” Fleshly passions include love of money, power, fleshly lust, comfort in one’s own religion, the desire to lord over, etc.

Only escape from instinctively doing what seems right, is to “yield to God’s calling and turn - repent.” History demonstrates that without looking to God’s Way, majorities always evolve to and yield to their inherited fleshly thinking. This was the people’s state of being before the flood, afterward and where humanity is heading today. In countries where so many families have God’s holy scriptures in their homes; “anti God teaching and beliefs are growing rampantly each day.

From within our inherited fleshly nature we don’t have the capacity for Godly love. Self preservation isn‘t Godly love! We’re created to become, “holy because God is holy”

(1Peter 1:16; “for it is written, “You shall be holy, because I am holy.” A quote from Lev 19:2) Ultimately we’re created to become atOne with Jesus and God our Father. The called are gifted to live morally as God defines morality, “judge ourselves in Jesus’ Light and be atOne with Him. Jesus continues to teach God’s Ways to His chosen through Paul.

(Phil 1:27-30; “Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ so that – whether I come and see you or whether I remain absent – I should hear that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind, by contending side by side for the faith of the gospel, and by not being intimidated in any way by your opponents. This is a sign of their destruction, but of your salvation – a sign which is from God. For it has been granted to you not only to believe in Christ but also to suffer for Him, since you are encountering the same conflict that you saw me face and now hear that I am facing.”)

Jesus’ Way is; “yielding to and cultivating the gifted One true spirit. His word teaches that His Way has many opponents. Satan being the god of this world causes many divided opponents because he’s a divided, murderous, deceiving liar. Destruction is inevitable for Satan and his followers who don‘t repent.

(2Cor 11:13-15;“For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. Therefore it is not surprising his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, whose end will correspond to their actions.”) Our gifted belief IN Jesus gives power to overcome the oppositions we encounter. Desire and the effort to overcome is gifted from God. Christians practice His Way demonstrates belief in God.

(Philippians 2:1-3; “Therefore, if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort provided by love, any fellowship in the Spirit, any affection or mercy, complete my joy and be of the same mind, by having the same love, being united in spirit, and having one purpose. Instead of being motivated by selfish ambition or vanity, each of you should, in humility, be moved to treat one another as more important than yourself.”)

These are instructions to followers of Jesus, “a converted to God’s Way people.” A people spiritually called and spiritually led to turn from the inherited fleshly nature. Such are a people, “Born from above.” Gifted with humility and desire to treat others more important than ourselves! (God’s uniting spirit binds such people as one in like manner as God the Father and God the Son are One.)

Jesus promised His apostles, they’d do greater miracles than He, because He was going to His Father. (See John 14:12). Jesus said, “A slave is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they obeyed My word, they will obey yours too. (See John 15:20). As Jesus exemplified God the Father, Jesus’ apostles exemplified Jesus. As The Father is revealed through Jesus, Jesus reveals Himself through His apostles. Now Paul continues with the theme about how to treat each other.

(Phil 2:4-11; “Each of you should be concerned not only about your own interests, but about the interests of others as well. You should have the same attitude toward one another that Christ Jesus had, who though He existed in the form of God did not regard equality with God “the Father” as something to be grasped, but emptied Himself by taking on the form of a slave, by looking like other men, and by sharing in human nature. He humbled Himself, by becoming obedient to the point of death – even death on a cross! As a result God exalted Him and gave Him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow – in heaven and on earth and under the earth – and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.”)

Praise God the day’s coming when every person will know “Jesus is Lord.” Not only are we made in God’s image and likeness, “we’re made to need God as a child needs his human parent.” Followers of Jesus are spirit led to “put on Jesus the Christ, think as He did and does.” Our attitude toward other Believers IN grows to be like Jesus’ love for us. Followers of Jesus have no desire to be human deities, invent a religion “nor decide for ourselves what’s right, wrong, good and evil.” Our desire is to empty ourselves, “yield ourselves as slaves to Jesus.” Christians are gifted to believe IN the Son of God, who’s now ascended to His Father, intermediates on our behalf and through Him our inherited from Adam human nature is changed.

As the Son of God, “Jesus shared in human nature, experiencing temptation and overcame to the end.” It’s revealed we followers of Jesus are also tempted and as “Son’s of God we overcome through Jesus.” Jesus is our example “yielded to and prayed to His Father.” When we’re gifted to Believe IN as Jesus believed IN “we’re born from above.” Then we too are gifted with overcoming powers as was Jesus. Paul explained to the Hebrews.

(Heb 4:15; “For we do not have a high priest incapable of sympathizing with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in every way just as we are, yet without sin.”) Jesus entered that Sabbath rest “all Believer IN are also called to.” (Heb 4:1-3; “Therefore we must be wary “cautious” that, while the promise of entering His rest remains open, none of you may seem to have come short of it. For we had good news proclaimed to us just as they “the Israelites” did. But the message they heard did them no good, since they did not join in with those who heard it in faith. For we who have believed enter that “Sabbath” rest, as He has said, “As I swore in My anger, ‘They will never enter My rest!’ For forty years I was continually disgusted with that generation, and I said, ‘These people desire to go astray; they do not obey My commands.’ So I made a vow in My anger, ‘They will never enter into the resting place I had set aside for them.’ (Quote from Psalms 95:10-11) And yet God’s works were accomplished from the foundation of the world.”)

God the Father and “The Alpha and Omega, Jesus” planned things from the foundation of His creation to times beyond, New Jerusalem’s coming down.

(Heb 4:4-10; “For God has spoken somewhere about the seventh day in this way: “And God rested on the seventh day from all His works,” but to repeat the text cited earlier: “They will never enter My rest!” Therefore it remains for some to enter it, yet those to whom it was previously proclaimed did not enter because of disobedience. So God again ordains a certain day, “Today,” speaking through David after so long a time, as in the words quoted before, “O, that today you would listen as He speaks! Do not harden your hearts.” For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken afterward about another day.(9) “Consequently a Sabbath rest remains for the people of God. For the one who enters God’s rest has also rested from his works, just as God did from His own works.”)

The Seventh Day foreshadows our resting from doing works of the flesh, Jesus’ millennial rule on earth doesn’t change the fact that the seventh day is holy.

(Heb 4:11-13; “Thus we must make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by following the same pattern of disobedience. For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any double-edged sword, piercing even to the point of dividing soul from spirit, and joints from marrow; it is able to judge the desires and thoughts of the heart. And no creature is hidden from God, but everything is naked and exposed to the eyes of Him to whom we must render an account.”) Overcoming our fleshly nature and Satan’s demonic doctrines, “to the end” is God’s Way for His people.

(Philippians 2:12-13; “So then, my dear friends, just as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence but even more in my absence, continue working out your salvation with awe and reverence, for the One bringing forth in you both the desire and the effort – for the sake of His good pleasure – is God.”)

Let’s NOT be boastful when these truth are understood, “remember God gives the desire and effort!” Being saved is an individual gift. A gifted nature change is to be, “born from above.” Then we’re Sovereign individuals made in God’s image spiritually, understanding that He brought us forth and He gave the desire and effort for the sake of His good pleasure. Thus we work at pleasing Him with awe and reverence.

(Phil 2:14-18; “Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may be blameless and pure, children of God without blemish though you live in a crooked and perverse society, in which you shine as lights in the world by holding on to the Word of Life so that on the day of Christ, I will have a reason to boast that I did not run in vain nor labor in vain. But even if I “Paul” am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice together with all of you. And in the same way you also should be glad and rejoice together with me.”)

In Paul’s day and now, we’re living in perverse societies. Worse today? Likely! But, as for as our being tempted, “Jesus has lived it.” Jesus did say, “these latter days would be likened to Sodom and Gomorra.” Overcome to the end is what we are called to do.

Followers of Jesus were once as “unbelieving governments, politicians, educators and the religious. Let’s not forget, ‘they’re driven and influenced by the fleshly nature inherited from Adam with Satan’s deceptions at every turn.”
