A result of our being calling to the Light is to know and desire obedience to God. Know it was His choice, know “as He has planned so it’ll be. (Isaiah 46:8-13; “Remember this, so you can be brave! Think about it, you rebels! Remember what I accomplished in antiquity! Truly I am God, I have no peer; I am God, and there is none like Me, who announces the end from the beginning and reveals beforehand what has not yet occurred,

who says, ‘My plan will be realized, I will accomplish what I desire’ who summons an eagle from the east, from a distant land, one who carries out My plan. Yes, I have decreed, yes, I will bring it to pass; I have formulated a plan, yes, I will carry it out. Listen to Me, you stubborn people, you who distance yourself from doing what is right. I am bringing My deliverance near, it is not far away; I am bringing My salvation near, it does not wait. I will save Zion; I will adorn Israel with My splendor.”) See also Isaiah 2:12, 14:24-27, 22:5, 23:9, 29:15, 30:1, 32:6-6 & 34:8.

Our Creator planned our salvation through Jesus from the foundation of His creation. He gives the desire to know Him, He keeps His Elect on His potter wheel. It’s natural that we called contemplate “why me?” The answer is, “by grace, mercy and for His purpose.”

Our inherited from Adam desire and nature must be changed to an inherited gifted spiritual desire Like Jesus’. Remember Jesus explaining to Nicodemus that people must be “born from above” and explained how that happens? Study John 3: for our purpose, we zero in on verses 6-8 again. Remember review and repetition is for our spiritual good.

(John 3:6-8; “What is born of the flesh is flesh, and what is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not be amazed that I said to you, ‘You must all be born from above.’ The wind blows wherever it will, and you hear the sound it makes, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”)

Judaism and all religions zealously lean to their fleshly inherited intellect, all have a zeal for a god of their imagination, not in line with Jesus’ truth unless the Father calls and reveals. Consider Paul’s explanation about the Israelites zeal.

(Rom 10:1-4; “Brothers and sisters, my heart’s desire and prayer to God on behalf of my fellow Israelites is for their salvation. For I can testify that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not in line with the truth. For ignoring the righteousness that comes from God, and seeking instead to establish their own righteousness, they did not submit to God’s righteousness. For Christ is the end of the law, with the result that there is righteousness for everyone who believes.) We can’t inherit God’s kingdom, while in our fleshly nature inherited from Adam. God calls, opens minds, grants repentance and changes the nature of those He chooses. Jesus said it and John quoted Him as recorded in chapter 3: above.

Believers IN don’t know how they were” born from above” any more than they can know where the wind is going! They only know their outlook regarding life’s practices are miraculously changed. Things once loved aren’t loved anymore. Fleshly deep seated desires aren’t what they once were. Jesus’ apostle Paul explained to the Romans and all Believers IN.

(Rom 8:1-2; “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the life-giving Spirit in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death.”) Every individual person “except Jesus” inherited Adam’s nature from birth, a hostile, lawlessness toward God’s Way. It’s the nature leading to eternal death until miraculously changed. Until supernaturally” born of the spirit” we’re in bondage to the nature inherited from Adam. (See 1 John 3:4.

(2Timothy 2:19 “However, God’s solid foundation remains standing, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from evil.”) That turning can’t be achieved by and through our own intellectual will, some methodology.

(Rom 8:3-11; “For God achieved what the law could not do because it “the law” was weakened through the flesh. By sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and concerning sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, so that the righteous requirement of the “spiritual” law may be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. (5) For those who live according to the flesh have their outlook shaped by the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit have their outlook shaped by the things of the Spirit. (6) For the outlook of the flesh is death, but the outlook of the Spirit is life and peace, because the outlook of the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to the law of God, nor is it able to do so. (8) Those who are in the flesh cannot please God. You, “followers of Jesus” however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, this person does not belong to Him. (10) But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is your life because of “Jesus’” righteousness. Moreover if the Spirit of the One “God the Father” who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, the One who raised Christ from the dead will also make your mortal bodies alive through His Spirit who lives in you.”)

When we’re “born from above” we’re children of God. We inherit an internal desire to know, “be intimate with God the Father and God the Son.”

(Rom 8:12-17; “So then, brothers and sisters, we “who are born from above” are under obligation, not to the flesh to live according to the flesh (for if you live according to the flesh, you will die) but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body you will live. (14) For all who are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery leading again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit itself bears witness to our spirit that we are God’s children. And if children, then heirs (namely heirs of God and also fellow heirs with Christ – if indeed we suffer with Him so we may also be glorified with Him.”)

Living God’s Way does make people unpopular with the world. That alone amounts to suffering to a degree.

(Rom 8:18-30; “For I consider that our present sufferings cannot even be compared to the glory that will be revealed to us. For the creation eagerly waits for the revelation of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility – not willingly but because of God who subjected it – in hope that the creation itself will also be set free from the bondage of decay into the glorious freedom of God’s children. For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers together until now. Not only this, but we ourselves also, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we eagerly await our adoption, the redemption of our bodies. (the resurrection) (24) For in hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope because who hopes for what he sees? (what he understands) But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with endurance. In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness, for we do not know how we should pray but the Spirit itself intercedes for us with inexpressible groaning. And the spirit who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes on behalf of the Saints according to God’s will. And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to His purpose, because those whom He foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that His Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. (30) And those He predestined, He also called; and those He called, He also justified; and those He justified, He also glorified.”)

Christians are about God’s purpose and His planning. God’s opening minds is likened to a Light flash. Suddenly we see what we were blind to previously.

(Rom 8:31-39; “What then shall we say about these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? Indeed, He who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all – how will He not also, along with Him, “His Son” freely give us all things? Who will bring any charge against God’s Elect? It is God who justifies. Who is the one who will condemn? Christ is the One who died (and more than that, He was raised) who is at the right hand of God, and who also is interceding for us. Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will trouble, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? (36) As it is written, “For your sake we encounter death all day long; we were considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we have complete victory through Him who loved us! For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor heavenly rulers, nor things that are present, nor things to come nor powers nor height nor depth nor anything else in creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”)

Remember Jesus is our Intercessor - Mediator and He experienced life in the flesh. He knows our trials and in Him we have a new outlook. Jesus’ apostle Paul continued the same teaching in his Ephesians letter. Again, let’s be reminded, repetition is good for our learning and memory. Next chapter we see Paul writing the same to God’s church at Ephesus.
