This month is one of the few where the Roman calendar month aligns with God’s calendar. Observe God’s full moon in a couple of days and investigate how the Roman calendar came to be and why?

Paul was called to be one of Jesus’ apostles and as such had authority by the gifted imputation of Jesus’ nature to teach God’s Way. He and each apostle gave their lives for the Way. Each suffered persecutions because they taught Jesus’ resurrection, ascension, His being our Creator, Deliverer, Mediator and coming king of kings. Paul’s dealing with gentile converts differed somewhat from dealing with Israelite converts “in that gentiles previously worshiped many gods by imaginary names. Gentiles worshiped the god of fertility, god of thunder, the sun and others imaginary gods, “making Paul’s overseeing position more difficult.” Sinful sexuality plagued the gentile populations more than Israelites. Paul had to address a case in the Corinth church “where a man cohabitated illegally” and refers back to this in his second letter to the church.

(2Cor 1:23-24; “Now I appeal to God as my witness, that to spare you I did not come again to Corinth. I do not mean that we rule over your faith, but we are workers with you for your joy, because by faith you stand firm.”) Paul was careful not to be accused of lording over people, as was the custom of gentile, Pharisees and denominational types. Israelite and gentile groups had problems overcoming their old ways and “turning to Creator and Savior Jesus.” Establishing moral conduct has always been an ongoing struggle among people, “especially unbelievers.”

(2Cor 2:1-4; “So I made up my own mind not to pay you another painful visit. For if I make you sad, who would be left to make me glad but the one I caused to be sad? And I wrote this very thing to you, so that when I came I would not have sadness from those who ought to make me rejoice, since I am confident in you all that my joy would be yours. (4) For out of great distress and anguish of heart I wrote to you with many tears, not to make you sad, but to let you know the love that I have especially for you.”)    REMEMBER the sinful conditions Paul wrote about in his first letter? Paul intended to come with boldness and see to it that this sin was purged from the congregation.

(2Cor 3:1-3; “Are we beginning to commend ourselves again? We don’t need letters of recommendation to you or from you as some other people do, do we? You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone, revealing that you are a letter of Christ, delivered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on stone tablets but on tablets of human hearts.”) This parallel teaching to Jesus’ church is the same teaching through Moses and Paul, expanding on the fact that we’re individually temples of God’s spirit, “a circumcision of the heart people.”

(Rom 2:28-29; “For a person is not a Jew “Christian” who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision something that is outward in the flesh, but someone is a Jew “Christian” who is one inwardly and circumcision is of the heart by the Spirit and not by the written code. This person’s praise is not from people but from God.”) You’ll note in Jesus’ revelations to John, “the word “Jew” is used - “meaning Christ Like.” Circumcision in the flesh and the law on stone tablets foreshadowed a new spirit “when God’s Word would be written in people’s hearts. New creation means, God’s spirit living in His people.

To the Galatians Paul explained: (“For neither circumcision nor un-circumcision counts for anything; the only thing that matters is a new creation! And all who will behave in accordance with this rule, peace and mercy be on them, and on the Israel of God.” Gal 6:15-16) Remember we learned “Israel” means God fights for. Today’s Israel of God “are followers of Jesus.” Jesus is the Mediator before the Father “for Christ like folks.”

(2Cor 3:4-6; “Now we have such confidence in God through Christ. Not that we are adequate in ourselves to consider anything as if it were coming from ourselves, but our adequacy is from God, who made us adequate to be servants of a new covenant not based on the letter but on the Spirit, for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.”)

Note, Paul admits that he isn’t adequate from within himself to consider spiritual matters. Paul and we teach “Immortality is gifted through the life of Jesus.” Paul did and we should recognized our personal inadequacy in all things. Paul recognized as we should “we had nothing to do with our calling and conversion.” God’s spirit lives in Christians “not because of our adequacy but for His purpose.” He calls, reveals Himself and grants His gift of repentance. Let’s review.

(Romans 6:21-23; “So what benefit did you then reap from those things that you are now ashamed of? For the end “result” “benefit” of those things is “eternal” death. But now, freed from sin and enslaved to God, you have your benefit (“end result” leading to sanctification, and the end “result” “benefit” is eternal life. For the payoff “end result” “benefit” of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”)

What could be more clear? People aren’t born to live forever someplace! NOTE the words “what benefit did you reap from” and “what were you gaining from your previous fleshly life style?” The answer is “death.” Now freed from sin and enslaved to God our benefit is, “sanctification and the end is eternal life.” It is taught from the holy scriptures many times over: (1) We were born to die once, “as in Adam, all die.” The only exception being; “Believers IN who’re alive at Christ’s return.” (2) “Eternal life is gifted from God the Father, in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Jesus had Isaiah write about the millennial age to come.

(Isaiah 55:8-9; “Indeed, My plans are not like your plans, and My deeds are not like your deeds, for just as the sky is higher than the earth, so My deeds are superior to your deeds and My plans superior to your plans.”) God’s plans is to resurrect the dead in Christ first. Believers IN are to be in the first resurrection “their payoff” eternal life.” Afterward, physical resurrections and judgment. Many will repent for having lived the way that seemed right to their fleshly intellect. Some will die a second death. Let’s review Jesus’ revelation to John.

(Revelations 20:6; “Blessed and holy is the one who takes part in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with Him for a thousand years.)

(Revelations 20:11-15; “Then I saw a large white throne and the One who was seated on it; the earth and the heaven fled from His presence and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne. Then books were opened, and another book was opened – the book of life. So the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to their deeds. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and Death and Hades “grave” gave up the dead that were in them, and each one was judged according to his deeds. Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death – the lake of fire. If anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, that person was thrown into the lake of fire.)

(Revelation 21:8; But to the cowards, unbelievers, detestable persons, murderers, the sexually immoral, and those who practice magic spells, idol worshipers, and all those who lie, their place will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur. That is the second death.”) There’re many questions and few can answer them all. May we have faith in our Creator, His promises through His prophets, apostles and Himself. “His Ways are higher than our ways.”

The holy scriptures teach “followers of Jesus are the temples of God.” Our desire is to be Christ Like “as Jesus is manifested to be in the holy scriptures” comes from God the Father. So lets review Paul’s explaining again. (Philippians 2:12-13; (13) for the One bringing forth in you both the desire and the effort – for the sake of His good pleasure, is God.)

Jesus’ apostles knew their teaching couldn’t give people a desire to believe IN, nor a desire to be atOne with God the Father and God the Son. They knew as we should “no person can open another’s mind.” No amount of theology schooling can give spiritual understanding. The apostles and we, “have faith that God will use revealed words to open minds and give a desire to be spiritually Christ Like.” Thus, until miraculously called, “born from above” people go the way that seems right to their fleshly inherited from Adam nature. The desire to be holy, “Christ Like” in spirit and truth is gifted.

The uncalled can’t see the harm in mixing pagan ways and practices “in the name of Jesus.” They have no concern regarding where customs and tradition originate. Jesus and His apostles called such lack of concern, “deceiving one’s self.” It is in the nature of unbelievers to respect charisma and credentials rather than “truth in the message.”

(1Cor 3:18-23; “Guard against self-deception each of you. If someone among you thinks he is wise in this age, let him become foolish so that he can become wise. For the wisdom of this age is foolishness with God. As it is written, “He catches the wise in their craftiness.” And again, “The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.” So then, no more boasting about mere mortals! For everything belongs to you “Christians” whether Paul or Apollos or Peter or the world or life or death or the present or the future. Everything belongs to you “Christians” and you belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God.”)

Guarding against “self deception?” Remember who’s nature we inherited at birth and (“there’s a way that seems right that leads to death.” Proverbs 14:12.) We must respect God’s View and prayerfully examine His Way with the knowledge that “in the flesh, we’re spiritually ignorant!” Review Rom 8:5-11 again.
