Perpetual Promises, chapter 6

11/1/19, God’s 8th month, Cheshvan 2/5780.

To: A called out people living through Jesus’ faith, promises and expectations; in the world but not of the world.

Numbers are important in God’s planning, 3, 7 and their multiples indicate completion, while number 6 indicates judgment. (No accident that His seventh day foreshadows His millennial rule, peace on earth etc. No accident that Jesus set aside three holy seasons with seven annual Sabbaths for His set aside people’s understanding regarding their calling, faith in His shed blood for the remission of sin, evidence of being at one with Him through His gifted holy spirit of truth, final judgment and conclusions.) No accident that Jesus had His apostle Matthew share chronology of God’s chosen up to and including Himself; it being 14 generations from Abraham to David, 14 from David to Israel’s scattering to Babylon, then 14 to Himself. (See Matt 1:1-17) Afterward review Isaiah 2:12-22 to discern ‘as God planned so it’ll be.’ Jesus’ future loving plans include resurrecting His followers to eternal life. Delivering Israel back to borders promised Abraham and judgment on their enemies. (See Isaiah 14:, Jeremiah 31: and Amos 9: regarding Israel’s future and judgment on their enemies.

Resurrections are mysteries to the world, but believers In understand God’s planning and power to keep promises.

(1Cor 15:38; But God gives it a body just as He planned, and to each of the seeds a body of its own. (1Cor 15:42-49; It is the same with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable, what is raised is imperishable. It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. So also it is written, “The first man, Adam, became a living person”; the last Adam became a life-giving spirit. (46) However, the spiritual did not come first, but the natural, and then the spiritual. The first man is from the earth, made of dust; the second man is from heaven. Like the one made of dust, so too are those made of dust, and like the one from heaven, so too those who are heavenly. And just as we have borne the image of the man of dust, let us also bear the image of the man of heaven.)

We’re living persons made in God image and likeness, our human spirit is the created part separating us from other breathing life forms; our spirit isn’t a separate internal life. When we die the whole dies, when we’re resurrected the whole comes forth as did Lazarus.

Proofs of God’s promises are all through Scripture, the king Assyria was Israel’s enemy and boasted about his successes over people groups, Isaiah prayed and God answered. (2Kings 19:42- 37; “So this is what the LORD says about the king of Assyria: “He will not enter this city, nor will he shoot an arrow here. He will not attack it with his shield-carrying warriors, nor will he build siege works against it. He will go back the way he came. He will not enter this city,” says the LORD. I will shield this city and rescue it for the sake of My reputation and because of My promise to David My servant.’ “That very night the LORD’S messenger went out and killed 185,000 men in the Assyrian camp. When they got up early the next morning, there were all the corpses. So King Sennacherib of Assyria broke camp and went on his way. He went home and stayed in Nineveh. One day, as he was worshiping in the temple of his god Nisroch, his sons Adrammelech and Sharezer struck him down with the sword. They escaped to the land of Ararat; his son Esarhaddon replaced him as king.”)

Long before God had told Isaiah, (2Kings 19:25; “Certainly you must have heard! Long ago I worked it out, In ancient times I planned it; and now I am bringing it to pass. The plan is this: Fortified cities will crash into heaps of ruins.”) Job understood that God frustrates the plans of the crafty so that their hands cannot accomplish what they had planned!”

Israel’s enemies are to be vindicated after their judgment. (Isaiah 10:12; But when the sovereign master finishes judging Mount Zion and Jerusalem, then I will punish the king of Assyria for what he has proudly planned and for the arrogant attitude he displays.”) (Isaiah 14:24; The LORD who commands armies makes this solemn vow: “Be sure of this: Just as I have intended, so it will be; just as I have planned, it will happen.”) (Isa 34:8; “For the LORD has planned a day of revenge, a time when He will repay Edom for her hostility toward Zion.”) As always study the whole.

When opportunity presents its self, guide people’s thinking regarding saving this earth; They can’t God has already planned its saving.

Jesus’ revelations to John is parallel’s to Job and Daniel’s.

(Revelations 1:12-16; “I turned to see whose voice was speaking to me, and when I did so, I saw seven golden lampstands “churches” and in the midst of the lamp stands was one like a son of man. He was dressed in a robe extending down to His feet and He wore a wide golden belt around his chest. His head and hair were as white as wool, even as white as snow, and His eyes were like a fiery flame. His feet were like polished bronze refined in a furnace, and His voice was like the roar of many waters. He held seven stars “angels” in His right hand, and a sharp double-edged sword extended out of His mouth. His face shone like the sun shining at full strength.”

Rev 1:17-20; When I saw Him I fell down at His feet as though I were dead, but He placed His right hand on me and said: “Do not be afraid! I am the first and the last, and the One who lives! I was dead, but look, now I am alive – forever and ever – and I hold the keys of death and of Hades! (grave - or underworld, all of which are under Jesus’ control.) Therefore write what you saw, what is, and what will be after these things. The mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand and the seven golden lamp stands is this: The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches and the seven lamp stands are the seven churches.”)

It’s spiritual revelations, ‘not like when people attempt to understand it all through their fleshly rational, through theology, personal intellect etc. He reveals to whom He wills.

Jesus met a Samaritan woman drawing water who knew about the Christ’s coming who’d tell everything, then Jesus shared Himself and had opportunity to teach His apostles; (John 4:21-45; Jesus said to her, “Believe me, woman, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You people worship what you do not know. We worship what we know, because salvation is from the Jews. But a time is coming — and now is here — when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such people to be His worshipers. (24) God is spirit, and the people who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah is coming” (the one called Christ); “whenever He comes, He will tell us everything.” Jesus said to her, “I, the One speaking to you, am He.” (27) Now at that very moment His disciples came back. They were shocked because He was speaking with a woman. However, no one said, “What do you want?” or “Why are you speaking with her?” Then the woman left her water jar, went off into the town and said to the people, “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Surely He can’t be the Messiah, can he?” (30) So they left the town and began coming to Him. Meanwhile the disciples were urging him, “Rabbi, eat something.” But He said to them, “I have food to eat that you know nothing about.” So the disciples began to say to one another, “No one brought him anything to eat, did they?” Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of the One who sent Me and to complete His work. (35) Don’t you say, ‘There are four more months and then comes the harvest?’ I tell you, look up and see that the fields are already white for harvest! The one who reaps receives pay and gathers fruit for eternal life, so that the one who sows and the one who reaps can rejoice together. For in this instance the saying is true, ‘One sows and another reaps.’ (38) I sent you to reap what you did not work for; others have labored and you have entered into their labor.” Now many Samaritans from that town believed IN him because of the report of the woman who testified, “He told me everything I ever did.” So when the Samaritans came to Him, they began asking Him to stay with them. He stayed there two days, and because of His word many more believed. (42) They said to the woman, “No longer do we believe because of your words, for we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this One really is the Savior of the world.”

(John 4:43-45; After the two days He departed from there to Galilee. (For Jesus Himself had testified that a prophet has no honor in his own country.) So when He came to Galilee, the Galileans welcomed Him because they had seen all the things he had done in Jerusalem at the feast (for they themselves had gone to the feast).

(John 4:46-54; Jesus came again to Cana in Galilee where he had made the water wine. In Capernaum there was a certain royal official whose son was sick. When He heard that Jesus had come back from Judea to Galilee, he went to Him and begged Him to come down and heal his son, who was about to die. So Jesus said to him, “Unless you people see signs and wonders you will never believe!” “Sir,” the official said to Him, “come down before my child dies.” Jesus told him, “Go home; your son will live.” The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and set off for home. While he was on his way down, his slaves met him and told him that his son was going to live. So he asked them the time when his condition began to improve, and they told him, “Yesterday at one o’clock in the afternoon the fever left him.” Then the father realized that it was the very time Jesus had said to him, “Your son will live,” and he himself believed along with his entire household.” Jesus did this as His second miraculous sign when He returned from Judea to Galilee.”)

Jesus attributes, creating wine, healing, walking on water, telling people’s past, re-creating bread and fish feeding thousands and resurrecting to physical life didn’t cause those who weren’t His Sheep believe. This alone should make people know, “there’s no prescribed method by which a person can understand truth, conjure up Godly love and be saved.

(1John 4:7-10; “Dear friends, let us love one another, because ‘Godly’ love is from God, and everyone who loves has been fathered by God and knows God. The person who does not love does not know God, because God is love. By this the love of God is revealed in us: that God has sent His one and only Son into the world so that we may live through Him. (10) In this is love: not that we have loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins.”) Paul too reveals God’s awesomeness in predestining us to adoption as His literal children.

Ephesians 1:3-6; “Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms in Christ. For He chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world that we may be holy and unblemished in His sight in love. He did this by predestining us to adoption as His sons through Jesus Christ, according to the pleasure of His will – (6) to the praise of the glory of His grace that He has freely bestowed on us in His dearly loved Son.”)

How do people learn the secret of His will? (verses 9-10; “He did this when He revealed to us the secret of His will, according to His good pleasure that He set forth in Christ, toward the administration of the fullness of the times, to head up all things in Christ – the things in heaven and the things on earth.”)

Did Paul think himself worthy? Did he value his previous fleshly education?

Eph 3:9-13; “To me “Paul“– less than the least of all the saints – this grace was given, to proclaim to the Gentiles the unfathomable riches of Christ and to enlighten everyone about God’s secret plan – a secret that has been hidden for ages in God who has created all things. (10) The purpose of this enlightenment is that through the church the multifaceted wisdom of God should now be disclosed to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly realms. This was according to the eternal purpose that He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord, in whom we have boldness and confident access to God because of Christ’s faithfulness. For this reason I ask you not to lose heart because of what I am suffering for you, which is your glory.

(Eph 3:14-21; For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on the earth is named. I pray that according to the wealth of His glory He may grant you to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner person, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, so that, because you have been rooted and grounded in love, you may be able to comprehend with all the Saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and thus to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God. Now to Him who by the power that is working within us is able to do far beyond all that we ask or think, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”)

Let’s close this study with another jewel from Paul. (Rom 1:20; “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible attributes – His eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, because they are understood through what has been made. So people are without excuse.”)
