Hebrews, chapter 7

12/6/2,019 God’s 9th Month, Av 8, 5,780

To: A called people with a gifted desire to be atOne with God.

God’s plans for His creation surpasses what fleshly man can imagine. Our merciful all knowing God plans resurrections of people in their own order. (1Cor 15:21-23: “Since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead also came through a man. For just as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive. But each in his own order: Christ, the firstfruits; then when Christ comes, those who belong to him.”)

Paul also wrote, “all Israel will be saved.” Rom 11:26; “And so all Israel will be saved as it is written: “The Deliverer will come out of Zion; He will remove ungodliness from Jacob.” (Quote from Isaiah 29:50-51, 27:9 and Jeremiah 31:33-34.) Paul knew about Isaiah’s crying out on behalf of Israel, “Though the number of the children of Israel are as the sand of the sea, only the remnant will be saved,’ Rom 9:27)

(Rom 9:22-29; “What if God, willing to demonstrate His wrath and to make known His power, has endured with much patience the objects of wrath prepared for destruction? And what if He is willing to make known the wealth of His glory on the objects of mercy that He has prepared beforehand for glory — even us, whom He has called, not only from the Jews but also from the Gentiles? (25) As He also says in Hosea: “I will call those who were not My people, and I will call her who was unloved, ‘My beloved.’ “And in the very place where it was said to them, ‘You are not My people,’ there they will be called ‘Sons of the living God.’ ” (27) And Isaiah cries out on behalf of Israel, “Though the number of the children of Israel are as the sand of the sea, only the remnant will be saved, for the Lord will execute His sentence on the earth completely and quickly.” Just as Isaiah predicted, “If the Lord of armies had not left us descendants, we would have become like Sodom, and we would have resembled Gomorrah.”) Without knowing Jesus’ deity His creating, communing with Noah and Abraham and His promises, we’d not understand Paul’s teaching.

Repeating God‘s promise to him at Gen 22:7 Abraham said. (Gen 32:12; But You said, ‘I will certainly make you prosper and will make your descendants like the sand on the seashore, too numerous to count.’) Speaking of Abraham the Hebrews writer wrote; (Heb_11:12  So in fact children were fathered by one man — and this one as good as dead — like the number of stars in the sky and like the innumerable grains of sand on the seashore.”)

Why is Satan allowed to manifest himself as an angel of Light

and God gives people over to a stupor of mind in this age?

He’s merciful toward people’s hostility toward Himself. Long before God delivered Israel from Egypt and made covenant promises, He had allowed the rest go the way that seemed right to themselves and thus to a stupor of mind. Followers of Jesus are aware that when allowed to go the way that seems right, people aren’t of a sound mind.

Whether it be spiritual or political thinking, “hostility and unbelief toward God’s way results in His mercifully giving people over to a mental spirit of stupor.” Merciful in that when resurrected people can honestly say to Him, “I wasn’t aware.” Understanding in this age is to whom He chooses to give it and withholding is His choice. Spiritual and even logical discernment doesn’t come through studies of any kind, “particularly theology.” To hostile covenant breaking Israelites, through Isaiah, Jeremiah and Paul God says.

(“Double disasters confronted you. But who feels sorry for you? Destruction and devastation, famine and sword. But who consoles you? Your children faint; they lie at the head of every street like an antelope in a snare. They are left in a stupor by the LORD’S anger, by the battle cry of your God. So listen to this, oppressed one, who is drunk, but not from wine! This is what your sovereign Master, the LORD your God, says: “Look, I have removed from your hand the cup of intoxicating wine, the goblet full of My anger. You will no longer have to drink it. I will put it into the hand of your tormentors who said to you, ‘Lie down, so we can walk over you.’ You made your back like the ground, and like the street for those who walked over you.” Isaiah 51:19-23) (Jesus’ parables didn’t start during Jesus fleshly life “when Israel began looking to other gods, they were in fact allowing themselves to be walked on and over.”)

Through Jeremiah God said, “go tell Israel every wine jar is made to be filled with wine.” ‘And they will probably say to you, ‘Do you not think we know that every wine jar is supposed to be filled with wine?’ Then tell them, ‘The LORD says, “I will soon fill all the people who live in this land with stupor. I will also fill the kings from David’s dynasty, the priests, the prophets, and the citizens of Jerusalem with stupor. And I will smash them ‘The LORD says, “I will soon fill all the people who live in this land with stupor. And I will smash them like wine bottles against one another, children and parents alike. I will not show any pity, mercy, or compassion. Nothing will keep Me from destroying them,’ says the LORD.” Jer 13:12-14)

(So what’s God’s conclusion? Allow Paul’s wrap up.) (Rom 11:6-10; “And if it is by grace, it is no longer by works, otherwise grace would no longer be grace. What then? Israel failed to obtain what it was diligently seeking, but the Elect obtained it. The rest were hardened, as it is written, “God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that would not see and ears that would not hear, to this very day.” And David says, “Let their table become a snare and trap, a stumbling block and a retribution for them; let their eyes be darkened so that they may not see, and make their backs bend continually.”)

Wonder why the division, hostility, sickness and coming plagues? God foreknew and told us why through Paul. (See Rom 1:21-38) Paul knew.

(Rom_11:8 “As it is written, “God gave them a spirit of stupor eyes that would not see and ears that would not hear, to this very day.”) It’s the same principle with why Jesus spoke in parables, so they wouldn’t understand.

(Matt 13:10-15; “Then the disciples came to Him and said, “Why do you speak to them in parables?” He replied, “You have been given the opportunity to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but they have not. For whoever has will be given more, and will have an abundance. But whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him. For this reason I speak to them in parables: Although they see they do not see, and although they hear they do not hear nor do they understand. (14) And concerning them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled that says: ‘You will listen carefully yet will never understand, you will look closely yet will never comprehend. For the heart of this people has become dull; they are hard of hearing, and they have shut their eyes, so that they would not see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.’) (See Isa 6:9-10)

Hard hearted, unbelieving people began with Adam and Eve’s procreation. All have inherited their sin nature that must be spiritually turned from with believing IN faith in Jesus.

(John 10:25-30; Jesus replied, “I told you and you do not believe. The deeds I do in My Father’s name testify about Me. But you refuse to believe because you are not My sheep. My sheep listen to My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish; no one will snatch them from My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all, and no one can snatch them from My Father’s hand. The Father and I are One.”) See previous studies regarding Believers IN.

Jesus’ kingdom likened to the Davidic kingdom is to be established on earth.

Ezekiel 34:23-31; “I will set one shepherd over them, and he will feed them – namely, my servant David. He will feed them and will be their shepherd. I, the Lord, will be their God, and My servant David will be prince among them; I, the Lord, have spoken! “‘I will make a covenant of peace with them and will rid the land of wild beasts, so that they can live securely in the wilderness and even sleep in the woods. I will turn them and the regions around My hill into a blessing. I will make showers come down in their season; they will be showers that bring blessing. The trees of the field will yield their fruit and the earth will yield its crops. They will live securely on their land; they will know that I am the Lord, when I break the bars of their yoke and rescue them from the hand of those who enslaved them. They will no longer be prey for the nations and the wild beasts will not devour them. They will live securely and no one will make them afraid. I will prepare for them a healthy planting. They will no longer be victims of famine in the land and will no longer bear the insults of the nations. Then they will know that I, the Lord their God, am with them, and that they are My people, the house of Israel, declares the sovereign Lord. (31) And you, My sheep, the sheep of My pasture, are My people, and I am your God, declares the sovereign Lord.’”)

Think spiritual, think millennium.

The messianic king is here called “David” (see Jeremiah 30:9 and Hosea 3:5, as well as Isaiah 11:1 and Micah 5:2) because He will fulfill the Davidic royal ideal depicted in the prophets and royal psalms (see Psalms 2, 89).

Jesus; the messianic king (“David”) is called both “king” and “prince” in Ezekiel 37:24-25. The use of the term “prince” for this king facilitates the contrast between this ideal ruler and the Davidic “princes” denounced in earlier prophecies (see Ezekiel 7:27; 12:10, 12; 19:1; 21:25; 22:6, 25).

The phrase “live securely” occurs in Ezekiel 28:26; 38:8, 11, 14; 39:26 as an expression of freedom from fear. It is a promised blessing resulting from obedience (See Leviticus 26:5-6). “The woods” are typically considered to be places of danger (Psalms 104:20-21; Jeremiah 5:6). “Showers of blessing.” Abundant rain, which in turn produces fruit and crops (v. 27), is a covenantal blessing for obedience (Leviticus 26:4).

These promises include Abraham’s spiritual (Genesis 15:7) descendants. (See Genesis 15:8; Exodus 6:7 & Galatians 3:29.

Ezekiel 39:7-8; “‘I will make My holy name known in the midst of My people Israel; I will not let My holy name be profaned anymore. Then the nations will know that I am the Lord, the Holy One of Israel. (8) Realize that it is coming and it will be done, declares the sovereign Lord. It is the day I have spoken about.”)
