The Gospel, chapter 12

To: “In Resident Churches of God, all Saints” grace and peace from our God. 10/20/18, God‘s 8th month, Chestven 11, 5779 until sunset.

That Pentecost after Jesus’ ascension was a partial fulfillment of Jesus’ prophecy through Joel. Study that short book. After Jesus’ return, Satan bound and knowledge of His love covers like water the sea, “all who call on His name will be saved. Each Pentecost Sabbath looks forward to that day.

Pentecost represents a time of saving, “a day of entering His Rest was scheduled by God the Father.” (Study Isaiah 49:) Jesus’ apostle Paul confirms that this latter age is “the acceptable time.”

(2Cor 6:1-10; “Now because we “apostles” are fellow workers, we also urge you not to receive the grace of God in vain. For He says, “I heard you at the acceptable time, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” Look, now is the acceptable time; look, now is the day of salvation! We “apostles” do not give anyone an occasion for taking an offense in anything, so that no fault may be found with our ministry. But as God’s servants, we have commended ourselves in every way, with great endurance, in persecutions, in difficulties, in distresses, in beatings, in imprisonments, in riots, in troubles, in sleepless nights, in hunger, by purity, by knowledge, by patience, by benevolence, by the Holy Spirit, by genuine love, by truthful teaching, by the power of God, with weapons of righteousness both for the right hand and for the left, through glory and dishonor, through slander and praise; regarded as impostors, and yet true; as unknown, and yet well-known; as dying and yet – see! – we continue to live; as those who are scourged and yet not executed; as sorrowful, but always rejoicing, as poor, but making many rich, as having nothing, and yet possessing everything.) Remember Jesus told them of their suffering and what that result would be.

Sabbaths’ foreshadow that rest. (Heb 4:8-13; “For if Joshua had given them “Israelites” Rest, God would not have spoken afterward about another day. (9) Consequently a Sabbath Rest remains for the people of God. For the one who enters God’s Rest has also rested from his works, just as God did from His own works. Thus we must make every effort to enter that Rest, so that no one may fall by following the same pattern of disobedience. For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any double-edged sword, piercing even to the point of dividing soul from spirit, and joints from marrow; it is able to judge the desires and thoughts of the heart. (13) And no creature is hidden from God, but everything is naked and exposed to the eyes of Him to whom we must render an account.”)

We’re called to be at Rest from our own fleshly works. God’s resting and making the seventh day holy to Himself and His people are for this Sabbath and His millennia time of rest. Millennium means, “one thousand” and a thousand years is as a day with God. Jesus revealed a time after His millennial rule and afterward “New Jerusalem comes down, when all things are made new.” back to Peter.

(2Peter 3:8-13; “Now, dear friends, do not let this one thing escape your notice, that a single day is like a thousand years with the Lord and a thousand years are like a single day. The Lord is not slow concerning His promise, as some regard slowness, but is being patient toward you, because He does not wish for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief; when it comes, the heavens will disappear with a horrific noise, and the celestial bodies will melt away in a blaze, and the earth and every deed done on it will be laid bare. Since all these things are to melt away in this manner, what sort of people must we be, conducting our lives in holiness and godliness, while waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God? Because of this day, the heavens will be burned up and dissolve, and the celestial bodies will melt away in a blaze! But, according to His promise, we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness truly resides.”)

Peter’s prophetic words about the heavens and celestial bodies are misunderstood my many in relationship to God’s making all things new. Many think at Jesus’ next return the heavens will be instantaneously altered, others believe that Jesus’ return spells the end of planet earth. Taking all prophecy in consideration, we understand that the melting away of celestial bodies will be after Jesus’ millennial rule and likely after New Jerusalem comes down. Peter’s words in chapter one must be considered along with all other inspired text.

When talking with His apostles He explained, (“For the Son of Man will come with His angels in the glory of His Father, and then he will reward each person according to what he has done. I tell you the truth, there are some standing here who will not experience death before they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.” Matt 16:27) (Matt 17:1-8; “Six days later Jesus took with Him Peter, James, and John the brother of James, and led them privately up a high mountain. And Jesus was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became white as light. Then Moses and Elijah also appeared before them, talking with Jesus. So Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you want, I will make three shelters – one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” While Peter was still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is My One dear Son, in whom I take great delight. Listen to Him!” When the disciples heard this, they were overwhelmed with fear and threw themselves down with their faces to the ground. But Jesus came and touched them. “Get up,” He said. “Do not be afraid.” When they looked up, all they saw was Jesus alone.”

These three witnessed the kingdom of God. Moses, Elijah and many others will be with Jesus during His millennial rule. In Peter’s second letter he speaks of this miraculous event with Jesus.

(2 Peter1:16-21; “For we “apostles” did not follow cleverly concocted fables when we made known to you the power and return of our Lord Jesus Christ; no, we were eyewitnesses of His grandeur. For Jesus received honor and glory from God the Father, when that voice was conveyed to Him by the Majestic Glory: “This is My dear Son, in whom I am delighted.” When this voice was conveyed from heaven, we ourselves heard it, for we were with Jesus on the holy mountain. Moreover, we possess the prophetic word as an altogether reliable thing. You do well if you pay attention to this as you would to a light shining in a murky place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. (Until Jesus is revealed to our minds) Above all, you do well if you recognize this: No prophecy of scripture ever comes about by the prophet’s own imagination, for no prophecy was ever borne of human impulse; rather, men carried along by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.)

It’s amazing to followers of Jesus, that so many can read these marvelous spirit inspired words and still make God out to be one of their private imagination.

(Heb 4:12-13; “For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any double-edged sword, piercing even to the point of dividing soul from spirit, and joints from marrow; it is able to judge the desires and thoughts of the heart. And no creature is hidden from God, but everything is naked and exposed to the eyes of Him to whom we must render an account.”)

The holy bible is a spiritual book and understood by those to whom it is gifted. God reveals these gifted characteristic of His followers to Paul and he to we followers of Jesus.

(1Cor 1:18-27; “For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us “Christians” who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and I will thwart the cleverness of the intelligent.” (No matter one’s intellect, God can withhold or give spiritual understanding) Where is the wise man? Where is the expert in the Mosaic law? Where is the debater of this age? Has God not made the wisdom of the world foolish? For since in the wisdom of God the world by its wisdom did not know God, God was pleased to save those who believe by the foolishness of preaching. For Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks ask for wisdom, but we “apostles” preach about a crucified Christ, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles. (24) But to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength. (26) Think about the circumstances of your call, brothers and sisters. Not many were wise by human standards, not many were powerful, not many were born to a privileged position. But God chose what the world thinks foolish to shame the wise, and God chose what the world thinks weak to shame the strong.”)

When foolish people decide for themselves, what is good, evil, right and wrong, they are unwittingly falling into the same trap Satan laid for Eve and Adam. Satan said to the woman, “Is it really true that God said, ‘You must not eat from any tree of the orchard’?” The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit from the trees of the orchard; but concerning the fruit of the tree that is in the middle of the orchard God said, ‘You must not eat from it, and you must not touch it, or else you will die.’” The serpent said to the woman, “Surely you will not die, for God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will open and you will be like divine beings who know good and evil.” Genesis 3:2-5)  (This is Satan’s first lie of many.)

Vain people want to think of themselves as divine. When deciding for ourselves, what’s right, wrong, good and evil, we in fact making ourselves little gods to ourselves and often others who may believe in us.

Is what attracted Eve, desirable to us? (Gen 3:6-7; “When the woman saw that the tree produced fruit that was good for food, was attractive to the eye, and was desirable for making one wise, she took some of its fruit and ate it. She also gave some of it to her husband who was with her, and he ate it. Then the eyes of both of them opened, and they knew they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.”)

Their total outlook was innocence before disobedience. Before Satan tempted they looked to their Creator as Master and Teacher, but they were not gifted with a believing IN spirit. (See John 7:39) After eating from the forbidden tree their minds were opened to self serving vanity, “thoughts regarding what seemed right, good and evil was entertained.” They became aware of their nakedness. Their yielding to what seemed right, brought about God’s promise of eternal death.

But, Creator Jesus and God our father had a plan for people made in His image and likeness. He could not be outdone by the deceiver, “Satan.” They had already planned the way of salvation through God the Son, “The Word, Way and Life.” He would be the Light, the sacrifice for the remission of sin.

(John 3:16-21; “For this is the way God loved the world: He gave His One and only Son, so that everyone who believes IN Him will not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world should be saved through Him. The one who believes IN him is not condemned. The one who does not believe has been condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the One and only Son of God. (19) Now this is the basis for judging: that the Light has come into the world and people loved the darkness rather than the Light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone who does evil deeds hates the Light and does not come to the Light, so that their deeds will not be exposed. But the one who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that it may be plainly evident that his deeds have been done in God.”)

In keeping with His Sabbath rest principle, we believe God allotted six thousand years, for His created people to go the way that seemed right to their fleshly minds. Allowing Satan to be the god of fleshly minded people, while calling out a predestined people for His name sake and kingdom purpose. Jesus reveals that Satan knows his time is short.
