Hebrews, chapter 6

12/5/2,019 God’s 9th Month, Av 7, 5,780

To: A called people with a gifted desire to be atOne with God.

“Work out your salvation with awe and reverence, (Philippians 2:13; for the One bringing forth in you both the desire and the effort — for the sake of His good pleasure — is God.”) Desiring to be Christ Like are gifted and His Holy Spirit’s imputation makes people atOne with Himself, inheriting His characteristics, attributes, loves and hatreds: “is in fact the only way to gifted immortality.” Recipients can only boast in the Lord, being thankful for His gifted desires. These Godly desires and their result can only be attributed to His calling.

Believing IN faith begins when God reveals Himself, His characteristics, holiness, righteousness and what’s pleasing to Himself. Rebellious Cain like ‘believers that’ yielded to what seemed right. So does 99% of this world’s populations who think they’re doing God’s will. Cain’s righteous brother Abel ‘believed IN’ God and didn’t waver, ‘made a blood sacrifice as commanded.’ Cain may have repented for having murdered his brother, that’s likely because Cain’s son Enoch walked with God. (See Genesis 4:17) (Gen 5:23-24; “The entire lifetime of Enoch was 365 years. Enoch walked with God, and then He disappeared because God took him away.”) Righteous Abel’s blood still speaks to us; in that his yielding obedience is our example regarding what’s pleasing to God.

Worldly denominations calling themselves evangelicals are each walking in Cain’s shadow as they yield to and evolve with what’s politically correct. How different this world would be if Christendom truly repented; “turned to a mimicking of Abraham and Abel’s faith.” How different if Christendom believed in Jesus’ Good News as presented to the Hebrews. How different if Christianity looked to the calendar Jesus gave Moses.

Followers of Jesus shun pagan tradition that’s rooted in falsehood, like Baal - Jezebel worship, fertility deities and Aztec mythology. Godly faith is only gifted as we believe IN Him as He manifest to be in His holy word.

Godly Faith is believing IN every word that proceeds from God.

(Hebrews 11:8-10; “By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place he would later receive as an inheritance, and he went out without understanding where he was going. By faith he lived as a foreigner in the Promised Land as though it were a foreign country, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, who were fellow heirs of the same promise. (10) For he was looking forward to the city with firm foundations, whose architect and builder is God.”)

Abraham as did Abel, believed IN the Lord that called them. Abraham went out from family to live in areas not previously known to himself. He went forward not knowing the particulars but knew God kept promises. (Heb 13:8; “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever!) Same when we’re called to follow Jesus in this age, “if we know He keeps promises.” Today’s followers are called to go out form this world’s system of things. Turn from practices and traditions that aren’t rooted in God’s way. Jesus tells us that we are likely to be ostracized by the citizenry at large when we follow Him.

(Our calling like Abraham and Moses’ we’re called to follow Jesus.)

When we understand these things, “give Him all the praise for it’s not from our fleshly intellect that we understand.”

(John 10:25-30; Jesus replied, “I told you and you do not believe. The deeds I do in My Father’s name testify about Me. But you refuse to believe because you are not My sheep. My sheep listen to My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish; no one will snatch them from My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all, and no one can snatch them from My Father’s hand. The Father and I are One.”)

(Hebrews 11:11-13; “By faith, even though Sarah herself was barren and Abraham was too old, he received the ability to procreate, because he regarded the One who had given the promise to be trustworthy. So in fact children were fathered by one man – and this one as good as dead – like the number of stars in the sky and like the innumerable grains of sand on the seashore. (See Gen 22:7) These all died in faith without receiving the things promised, but they saw them in the distance and welcomed them and acknowledged that they were strangers and foreigners on the earth.”)

Followers of Jesus need to face the reality that they’re as strangers in the community they reside in. When called and gifted with believing IN faith, we need to seek revelation and wait on His promises. Seeking out a denomination of choice isn’t following Jesus. Peter explains to Believers.

(1Peter 1:22-25; “You have purified your souls ‘being’ by obeying the truth in order to show sincere mutual love. So love one another earnestly from a pure heart. You ’followers of Jesus’ have been born anew, not from perishable but from imperishable seed, through the living and enduring word of God. (24) For all flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of the grass; the grass withers and the flower falls off, but the word of the Lord endures forever.”) ’See Gen 47:31’ The gifted Holy Spirit in each Believer is “God’s imperishable seed.” (Immortality)

(Heb 11:14-19; “For those who speak in such a way make it clear that they are seeking a homeland. In fact, if they had been thinking of the land that they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. But as it is, they aspire to a better land, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore, God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them. By faith Abraham, when He was tested, offered up Isaac. He had received the promises, yet he was ready to offer up his only son. God had told him, “Through Isaac descendants will carry on your name,” (19) and he reasoned that God could even raise him from the dead, and in a sense he received him back from there.”) Abraham knew the Lord as Creator, Re-Creator, Savior, Redeemer and Deliverer.

(Heb 11:20-22; “By faith also Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning the future. By faith Jacob, as he was dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph and worshiped as he leaned on his staff. By faith Joseph, at the end of his life, mentioned the exodus of the sons of Israel and gave instructions about his burial.”) They each were gifted with knowing faith before pronouncing these blessings.

All looking to Jesus’ promised deliverance as promised Abraham.

(Exodus 12:40-42; “Now the length of time the Israelites lived in Egypt was 430 years. At the end of the 430 years, on the very day, all the regiments of the Lord went out of the land of Egypt. It was a night of vigil for the Lord to bring them out from the land of Egypt, and so on this night all Israel is to keep the vigil to the Lord for generations to come.”) In addition to revelations, in all likelihood Moses’ parents had told him of the Lord’s promise to Abraham. Followers of Jesus like Moses, realize we’ll be ill-treated.

(Heb 11:23-27; “By faith, when Moses was born, his parents hid him for three months, because they saw the child was beautiful and they were not afraid of the king’s edict. By faith, when he grew up, Moses refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to be ill-treated with the people of God than to enjoy sin’s fleeting pleasure. (26) He regarded abuse suffered for Christ to be greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for his eyes were fixed on the reward. By faith he left Egypt without fearing the king’s anger, for he persevered as though he could see the One who is invisible.”)

As Jesus foretold, His followers are in a similar situations as was Moses in Egypt. We can choose the pleasures of this world’s system of things or if called, can choose “suffering for Christ to be of greater wealth.”

(Heb 11:28-31; “By faith Moses kept the Passover and the sprinkling of the blood, so that the One who destroyed the firstborn would not touch them. By faith they crossed the Red Sea as if on dry ground, but when the Egyptians tried it, they were swallowed up. By faith the walls of Jericho fell after the people marched around them for seven days. By faith Rahab the prostitute escaped the destruction of the disobedient, because she welcomed the spies in peace.”)

(Heb 11:32-40; “And what more shall I say? For time will fail me if I tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets. Through faith they conquered kingdoms, administered justice, gained what was promised, shut the mouths of lions, quenched raging fire, escaped the edge of the sword, gained strength in weakness, became mighty in battle, put foreign armies to flight, and women received back their dead raised to ‘physical’ life. But others were tortured, not accepting release, to obtain resurrection to a better life. And others experienced mocking and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, sawed apart, murdered with the sword; they went about in sheepskins and goatskins; they were destitute, afflicted, ill-treated (38) (the world was not worthy of them); they wandered in deserts and mountains and caves and openings in the earth. And these all were commended for their faith, yet they did not receive what was promised. For God had provided something better for us, so that they would be made perfect together with us.”) Better for us because “Daniel was told, knowledge will increase in this latter age.”

(Matt 19:29-30; “And whoever has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”) See also Jesus’ parable regarding workers called to gather produce toward the end of the work day being paid the same as those who went to work earlier. Matt 20:8-16.

All written for people called last.

(Romans 15:4-6; “For everything that was written in former times was written for our instruction, so that through endurance and through encouragement of the scriptures we may have hope. Now may the God of endurance and comfort give you unity with one another in accordance with Christ Jesus, so that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”)

Believers IN are spiritual Israelites “Jews if you prefer” regardless of nationality we are atOne with one another, God the Father and God the Son.
