When Jesus returns He’ll do away with pagan calendars, times honoring pagan and imaginary gods. Satan is the world’s friend; enemy of God and His followers. He desires separating us from God’s way, doesn’t want us knowing we have immortality through Jesus, be in the first resurrections; return with Jesus and rule with Him. Satan don’t want us knowing believing in Jesus as He manifest Himself to be is to be “born again” to Jesus spiritual likeness. We must know Satan is getting more ruthless in these latter days. Many are being demonically possessed.
Review Jesus’ conversation with Zachariah’s sisters at John 11:23. Jesus is saying, (1) People believing IN Him will live even if they die. (2) People alive; believing in Him when I return will never die. Review 1Cor 15:51-52; Listen, I will tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed – in a moment, in the blinking of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.)
Consider Paul’s whole summation in Corinthians 15:
(15:42-44-46; It is the same with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable, what is raised is imperishable. It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.
So also it is written, “The first man, Adam, became a living person”; the last Adam “Jesus” became a life-giving spirit. (46) However, the spiritual did not come first, but the natural, and then the spiritual.
(Immortality is when, “the natural is impregnated with God’s spirit.)
It’s Jesus’ conclusion through Paul at verses 50-55; “Now this is what I am saying, brothers and sisters: Flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Listen, I will tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed – in a moment, in the blinking of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we ‘who are alive’ will be changed. For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. Now when this perishable puts on the imperishable, and this mortal puts on immortality, then the saying that is written will happen, “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” “Where, O death is your victory? Where, O death is your sting?”
(56-58; The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ! So then, dear brothers and sisters, be firm. Do not be moved! Always be outstanding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.)
The law demands death for disobedience, buy Jesus made the way and all who don’t subscribe to the way, will die a second death. (Review Revelations 21:8, to discern the characteristics followers of Jesus must be turning from.
(John 11:45-48; Then many of the people, who had come with Mary and had seen the things Jesus did, believed IN Him. But some of them went to the Pharisees and reported to them what Jesus had done. So the chief priests and the Pharisees called the council together and said, “What are we doing? For this man is performing many miraculous signs. If we allow Him to go on in this way, everyone will believe IN Him and the Romans will come and take away our sanctuary and our nation.)
This world’s religions don’t want God’s truth taught. They’re negative about Jesus’ second coming, forcefully taking power from this world’s demonic leaders, bind Satan one thousand years and bring peace to this earth. Then all will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord. (Jesus ask us to read Revelations out loud.)
During times before John the Baptist and Jesus’ earthly miniseries, temple Priest were sometimes given revelations and prophesied. When Zachariah, (John the Baptist’s dad) was High Priest, an angel visited him and told of John’s birth. Now High Priest, (Caiaphas) shares a revelation. At this point God was still using the Synagogues for His purpose, so Jesus sent some He Healed, to show themselves to the Priest according to how He had instructed Moses. After Jesus resurrected Lazarus the talk was, “all people will be turning to Jesus.” Authorities were thinking now Rome will take away their positions. Let’s remember, Jesus’ New Testament Church’s birth began on that Pentecost after His ascension.
John 11:49-52; Then one of them, ‘Caiaphas’ who was High Priest that year, said, “You know nothing at all! You do not realize that it is more to your advantage to have one man die for the people than for the whole nation to perish.” (Now Caiaphas did not say this on his own, but because he was high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus was going to die for the Jewish nation, and not for the Jewish nation only, but to gather together into one, the children of God, who are scattered.)
Caiaphas’ prophecy is; “Jesus will again deliver the scattered tribes of Israel.” He will yet miraculously gather His chosen to their former boundaries promised Abraham. Zephaniah and Isaiah prophesied the same.
(Zephaniah 3:19-20; Look, at that time I will deal with those who mistreated you. I will rescue the lame sheep and gather together the scattered sheep. I will take away their humiliation and make the whole earth admire and respect them. At that time I will lead you – at the time I gather you together. Be sure of this! I will make all the nations of the earth respect and admire you when you see ME restore you, says the Lord.)
Jesus died for the sins of the world and promises to Abraham include restoring His chosen people. It’s not likely; Caiaphas understood the degree in which his prophecy paralleled Isaiah’s and Zephaniah’s. Now Jesus knew the next Passover would be about His giving His life for the sins of the world as preplanned.
(John 11:53-57; So from that day they planned together to kill Jesus. Thus Jesus no longer went around publicly among the Judeans, but went away from there to the region near the wilderness, to a town called Ephraim, and stayed there with His disciples. Now the Jewish Feast of Passover was near, and many people went up to Jerusalem from the rural areas before the Passover to cleanse themselves ritually. Thus they were looking for Jesus, and saying to one another as they stood in the temple courts, What do you think? That He won’t come to the Feast? (Now the chief priests and the Pharisees had given orders that anyone who knew where Jesus was should report it, so that they could arrest Him.)
Israelites were keeping the Passover season as commanded, ‘The Feast of Unleavened Bread, began the day after, with the holy annual Sabbath day. Putting leavening out from their shelters was for ceremonially cleansing themselves of sins. The custom reminds today’s believers to overcome sin to the end. Every Christian‘s goal is to stop practicing lawlessness – sin, and practice Jesus’ righteous Ways. God gives the desire to overcome our inherited sin nature and Satan’s obstacles to the end of our physical lives. Naturally this includes the ten commandments; number 9 is, “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor and 10 is, “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife; his male servant; his female servant; his ox; his donkey; or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”
Christendom practically ignores God’s Ten Commandments, particularly the fourth. Jesus demonstrated the magnification of honoring the seventh day. Our straight forward example is the seventh, ‘you shall not commit adultery.’ Jesus said about it; (Matt 5:27-28; “You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to desire her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” The idea is to obey God from our inner being; that is, being mindful of the law’s spiritual magnification. Practicing God’s law was what the Pharisee mentality worshiped; spiritual magnification comes with loving God and His law, understanding He and they given from love.
The spiritual magnification of the tenth commandment, “you shall not covet” likewise includes much more than not desiring the neighbor’s property, but includes putting neighbor ahead of self in all manner of conduct. Build up, rather than put down only scratches the surface.
